    Great flying and seeing it with swept back wings just added to the joy. Does look like tricky flying once those big wings are swept back. The cooking battery says much about the workout with the wings swept back.

    I was doing that XT90-EC plug cheat on a Flexjet. Turns out the contacts had been heating up enough to loose their spring temper. Then one flight on the first turn after takeoff, the airplane just shut down, completely. THe plug had completely lost contact, even though the housi ngs were fully engaged. Luckily I was in a turn pulling up elevator and the trim the jet was left with was a gentle nose-high free-flight glide into our grass parking area. The only damage was the gear doors pulled off in the grass.
    Lucky to get the airplane back, I was also able to learn from that which wouldn't have happened if it went down out in the woods. No more cheating by using the XT and EC plugs together on high draw jets. Park flyers may be a different story...

    • @RCPlaneReviewer
      @RCPlaneReviewer  Год назад +4

      Yeah can't do that with the high draw, hotter setups for sure!! You can get away with it on prop planes. But not edfs

    At the 21:09 mark, the EC5 bullets are 5mm and the XT90s are 4.5mm bullets. The male XT90 4.5mm bullets (ESC) will fit inside a female EC5 5.0mm (battery) bullet, but the 0.5mm gap generates lots of heat. The 1st and only time I flew with that combo my 6S 4500mAh Genesis batt came down VERY HOT, and PUFFED. Ruined the battery and could have lost the jet!

    This was the 1st plane I said I wanted when my very 1st flying club asked me what is the plane you want the most. Without? the B-1B Lancer or "Bone". 1 of the most fierce and respected planes on the planet. Been waiting to see if any other companies were going to license it or if I'm going to build it myself, this is still worth buying in my opinion, to upgrade the servos and esc amongst other modifications

    Wow, super cool video! And good tipp at the end! I would prefer some bigger connector probably. I did not think the XT90 would melt so easy. The EC5 maybe because they aren´t so solid. But maybe the bigger AS150 or something like that would be better. Luckily the connector did not get disconnected while melting. I had that on a car with T/Deans and 6S but the car doesn´t falls from sky xD xD ... Super cool flights! and super nice model :)))))

    Hey Bobby nice flight, T.J. nice reference to the golf course. Those XT90 and EC5s I don't think are really compatible even though some people say you can connect them that way you really should not do it because of the arcing that occurs from loose contact between the two connectors.

    • @josephklabnik1522
      @josephklabnik1522 Год назад +1

      You are correct. The EC5 male connector is smaller than the XT 90 and most likely where the heat was being generated from from lack of good contact. I suggest you use one or the other but do not mix them. I've seen this exact issue with flyers form my field.

      @@RCPlaneReviewer If you only knew how deeply I collaborate with AI on all my RC plane projects 🤯. I am fully aware of the financial consequences of not getting this right because it's money out of my hide if I get this wrong. You should know that I'm pushing as hard as I possibly can and putting in as much as SIM time as I can while making it as difficult as I can so flying feels very easy when I show up at the field. Understanding minimum speed requirements for a particular wing loading, knowing how much aft CG I can get away with by playing with my elevator gyro sensitivity, and holistically understanding approach angles power settings and minimum speeds for a particular wing type. There's no playbook or rule book for how to go about being successful in this hobby. I'm just doing what I know how to do best which is giving it my best. Seeing you guys push every week with new content dropping videos all the time makes me want to push too bro! I don't know where the endgame is but I'm still hungry for this.

I cheated like you during the basic setup, but no way I'd do that for a flight. I'm going with either an Eagle tree gyro or complete bypass on mine. She's built and setup with RC Geek burners installed. I just need to get the gyro installed and configured. Great demonstration of even experienced pilots working "10 mistakes high" on a new airframe.

  • @markhampton6178
    @markhampton6178 7 месяцев назад +2

    Hey, I discovered why your plug is doing that. That is not a true xt90 plug. That is a cheap Chinese knockoff of one. I had the same problem and it actually blew my ec5 piece off of it and it kept arcing. The reason why is the wire was not soldered properly and it caused a very small place for current to flow which caused the plug to get hot and that's the reason why it arced every time I plugged in the cable. So do yourself a favor, cut off the xt90 and replace it with an ic5 which I did on mine.
