I don't think I've seen an entire fandom soley dedicated to the concept art page of an artbook and the weirdest thing is that they all look pretty good.
Because the first idea was such a good one, everybody just wants to draw it more. I mean... Wish could seriously have been the rebirth we all want for disney. A way to use the magic it had since snow white even now! And yet... they didn't! Just because by now a female hero that falls in love could be percieved as weak (although we have Belle, Mulan, Captain Amelia, Kida, Megara, Tiana, Rapunzel, Jasmine, Pocahontas and many others that fell in love and yet are strong as steel) And there cannot be female antagonists anymore (having a couple of evil rulers with the plotwist of Amalia revealing it later was pure genius) Plus... Starboy was such a great character and design at the start. The true embodiment of wishes, that star to whom Tiana, Cinderella, Snow White and Jiminey Cricket prayed, Peter Pan and his friends flew, Ariel watched from beneath the waves and so on!

GOD instead of recycling a love song and changing a few words to haphazardly cover what the essence of a Wish is, this works so much better. Wishes aren't just something you can take out of someone and.. put back in. They aren't an "object" perse, they're abstract concepts that are so complex and profound. They're literal fragments of hope. Without a wish, without one huge goal/motivation to keep someone going, they fall into despair and numbness. Depicting Star as *dying* here perfectly encapsulates that. The longer people lock their most personal wishes up in a room to be seen and not heard, the less they believe it, and the weaker that force tethering them to the very essence of life.

The main problem with Wish is that there really aren't any stakes in not getting the wishes back. So people don't get their wishes granted, which sucks; they go on with their lives, and things proceed as usual. Magnifico wasn't really using them for evil until the ending; they aren't being held against their wills, and they chose to give them up anyway
Imagine if Magnifico taking the wishes for himself was actually slowly sucking the life out of the kingdom’s people. Now that’s a story right there. I also really love the way you made Star demonstrate what’s happening to him.
Salma, I'm actually doing a rewrite with a similar concept with the wishes, its not Magnifico, but an evil supernatural enemy that basically uses the wishes/dreams to essentially suck out their life force and turn them like him. I'm gonna have a similar conversation that leads to a small argument, and he just says it out of the blue in anger, then calmly explains what's going on with him: He was cursed as a baby and the wishes are like a connective thread for him for his life, so if all the wishes are destroyed, or his curse fully controls him, he'd die, and basically doom the kingdoms to destruction since he and Asha ( who's the princesses) are trying to stop him, partly because they're destined to, and partly because the enemy plans to turn every human in the kingdom immortal like him, since Aster is only half-vampire because of his curse, and Asks and her family are humans with magic powers. Her dad was born with them, then he married Amaya, who was only a nurse at the time, shared his powers with her, and they eventually had Asha, a princess born with powers, but was able to make them stronger when she got older, thanks to her parents and her Saba for help, since he's actually the Kings father, making him the reason she knows about so much life outside the palace and forest. Her friends and the goat are in it, but both play bigger roles, and the little goat is a female named Valerie, who's 3 months old.
imagine if all the wishes are stars or magnifico captures all the stars and kept them locked draining their power sources and starboy feels all the wishes and stars inside himself through a vision.
That would be amazing! When Macnifico Crushes the wishes it hurts him because he is a star and he cares! If Disney done this it would so watchable for the fans!!!
Omg. I'm getting memories of when I was younger cheering on another star-crossed lovers Disney Couple. Kiara and Kovu. This could've been an amazing concept. Cheering on Asha and Star Boy for them to be together. GOSH DARN IT this could've been so much more.
If everyone keeps going on lile this, we'll have MANY of WISH movies by the end of the year, showing the many possibilities it could have been. Also, it's my first time seeing a fandom emerge from 2 pages of a concept art book. Brilliant!
In the graphic novel/comic, Magnifico questions why Star answered Asha, why it took her for them to meet. I'd have loved seeing Star relieve Magnifico of his trauma here, restoring Magnifico's "innocence."
