- We, the EMS first responders and support staff of Alameda County, are SO EXCITED to present our lip sync challenge video. We work in one of busiest and most diverse EMS systems in the country and we wanted to highlight some of the special aspects of us and our community. As a workforce, we are currently undergoing change in various aspects of our work lives and it has been so fun creating this video. It has absolutely boosted the morale of our workforce and as one senior paramedic said, "The most fun I've had during my career." Our members voted on the song and chose a Bay Area Anthem written and performed by one of our favorite local artists, which we felt was a great way to incorporate more of our community. We enlisted one of our Firefighter First Responder brothers to record and produce this video. We are VERY PROUD to present to you the ALCO EMS Lip Sync Challenge video, "Tell Me When to Go" by E-40 featuring Keak da Sneak. E-40

Alameda County EMS just released this lip sync rendition of "Tell Me When to Go" by E-40 and Keak Da Sneak ruclips.net/video/EObLWBNgem4/видео.html
Keak, whose iconic voice blessed this historic track, needs a wheelchair, uses a colostomy bag & catheter, and needs a nurse 3x a week. In order to defend himself from future robberies, Keak started to carry a firearm Yet, he is about to be sent to prison for 16 months for 1 count of possession of a firearm as a felon (a felony he received for a prior weapons charge).
Keak is essentially being punished with incarceration for self-defense after surviving multiple assaults & robberies, which left him in of medical equipment to meet basic human needs. This is a major example of being over-policed yet under-protected.
Keak is concerned that prison authorities won't meet his basic medical needs while he's incarcerated, which could further deteriorate his health.

To be fair, I'm sure this wasn't the intention, but Alameda County EMS' lip sync video comes off terribly parasitic in this context. This man's voice and artistry is being used in a public relations video, all while Keak is about to face terribly inhumane conditions.
Keak is being locked up because of the gun he carried out of self-defense to prevent the kinds of attacks that resulted in these disabilities, and now he’s essentially being punished out of self-defense, only to have his disabilities likely deepen.
I know not everyone at AC EMS is a doctor, but y'all work in healthcare. The Hippocratic Oath says "I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required". The Oath also says, "nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery".
I'm sure AC EMS got love for Keak as a Bay legend, which is obvious because you celebrate his artistic work. So do the right thing, AC EMS ...Don't just use his voice, speak up for him and other incarcerated persons who face inhumane conditions in prisons & jails - through AC EMS, through your unions, professional associations, etc. That'd be a great way to show love for him in this moment.
Hi Cesar. Keak is a legend and our team did make it a point to reach out to him and his camp to be featured the video. Unfortunately It did not work out and we absolutely wish him the best. No Public funds were used in this video and all of the money came from from the members themselves. We truly wish him well as he is a Bay Area legend. Also Keat reached out via one of his constituents and on social media himself expressing his support for the song and these amazing first responders.
