- In this video you’ll see the process that I use to dip traps using acetone in a rest oleum paint. This process works very well in protecting your traps from rust #trapping #predatorcontrol #duketraps #predator #advancepredatormanagement #trapnation #trapprep
Thanks for sharing this Jason. I've tried just about every way to color traps, dying, dipping and painting and the way you did it is the best I have found to date.
How many seasons does it last on the traps. Before you have to dip them again
Great video, do you allow a certain amount of time for your K9 traps to air out before you set them? I’ve always been iffy on painting my traps until I just seen that’s how you do yours
Thanks for posting this. How often do you have to do that with your traps? for those rusted ones… do you end up having paint flake off after being outside post-dipping?
Do you dip them in wax or floor polish?
No I just dip them in rustoleum and acetone and that’s it … the rustoleum protects them
This is the first year I did this to my traps. 🤞🏻Fingers crossed I have no problems this year with my traps.. Thanks for sharing it eased my mind a little bit seeing you did the same thing👍🏻
Thank you for sharing! Those traps look great! Good luck with everything my friend!
Did you still have to remove the oil from the new trap ?
I don’t worry about it, It’s an oil based paint
I did this with my traps for the first time this season. Dipping them in Zep floor polish as well. It’s been my worst season to date, I can barely catch a cold this year. Not having any dig ups or misses, I’m hoping it’s just bad luck, but I can’t help but blame the paint. It’s the only thing I’m doing differently as compared to previous seasons.
Those look really good. How does this hold-up after a catch?
I’ve got black walnuts around my house I soak the hulls in a bucket of water. it’s as black as night, free and obviously more natural smelling than paint and thinner
