of note for map reading and GPSing Unless you are using survey grade differential GPS equipment or are on the military's GPS frequencies the accuracy of your position is no better than 10 meters. The typical car GPS uses a "snap to" feature that puts the picture of you on the nearest road. Which means at best you will be able to get an accuracy of 8 digit coordinates (assuming you are using the grid coordinate system, if you are using Lat Long then a one decimal places of seconds of arc) You map will (should) include a warranty on the positional accuracy of the map. Again, unless you have a map certified as a survey then the warranty is not going to be much better than 100 feet (anything depicted on the map is up to 100 feet distant from the location printed, in any direction). So there is really no need to ever use a more accurate position than a 6 digit grid reference.
Appreciate the addition to the discussion. I disagree with you on never using more than a 6 digit grid (if I'm understanding you correctly). When you're trying to find points during a Land Nav course, 6 digits would be horrible, especially at night. ~ Bryan
Do you also have a black IWB Pouch that fits money/cards/knife?? To attach it on a belt and put the pouch inside the pants for emergency? I can't find something, from neoprene for example
In my understanding of a USGS grid zone map, when you talk about a grid on a map your not using the words Latitude and Longitude....the lines are refereed to as (respectively) Easting and Northing lines. Even tho the Latitude and Longitude is marked on the corners and along the edges of a map.......the grid lines (UTM lines) are totally different. Asking a silly question here....but aren't you mixing UTM and Latitude/Longitude together here? Isn't the map designation 14S just a UTM world grid location? On another note...I like the SPIE kit 👍
ITS Tactical / Imminent Threat Solutions it's really hard to prove, but it does happen, one of the Nightline style shows did an episode on it. Basically like an organized intimidation effort structured to make the target overreact and look crazy.
Pretty sure the dude was asking you for some advice on counter surveillance techniques so he can figure out if he's actually being gang stalked or if he's crazy
My two favorite gloves are, the Oakley gloves and/or just standard issue flight gloves.
Great segment.
Thanks for the glove answer! You guys do an awsome job!
Should use hypalon for those pouches for even more reduced profile, either way im getting one
