EMERALDS excerpts featuring Violette Verdy (Balanchine / Faure)

The opening of George Balanchine's 3 Act plotless ballet JEWELS (1967) was EMERALDS set to the music of Gabriel Faure. This ballet had a decidedly French wit and sophistication perfectly embodied in the company's French ballerina Violette Verdy. Here are some silent excerpts with music added later just to give an idea, and featuring Ms. Verdy's solo, and opening and closing of the ballet. Balanchine later added more movements.
