- Iran and its supporters at the UN were keen to point out a double standard they said was at work after its attack on Israel, which Iran said was a response to the deadly Israeli bombing of an Iranian consulate.

So lets assume Israel was responsible for the embassy attack as they haven't admitted as such, personally I believe they were behind the attack, and with reason, the response of 300 projectiles by Iran in some form or nature was proportionate in response to the embassy attack? Really, putting how many at risk (not just Israeli's) at what casualty cost to the embassy attack? I only ask since proportionate has been used extensively of late and just wondering if the same metric of standards is used consistently or selectively. Israel should restrain themselves because any other country would after such an extensive attack, name me one country, just one county in the world after receiving such an assault, which would include Iran, irrespective why the assault happened, would sit on their hands and/or be expected to sit on their hands, so why would or should we expect Israel to do as such? So if we preach proportionality, can Israel send back as many as they received?

Under the UN Charter Iran has a right to defend itself. Israel has attacked Iran for years. This is the first time Iran retaliated. Iran took great effort to warn purposefully not causing much harm to descalate.
