I have never understood why people hate TLA arc it i appreciated the character development and the way Ginjo and Ichigos relationship developed, crazy you said him not getting a back story is a mistake, ive always felt that is what was missing from this arc to really put it in a higher place in people’s opinion, the flashback story would be awesome and it’s a shame it was never done would love to do a discussion with you, possible video idea or just for research lol
Can you do a character analysis on ichogos inner hollow white and how it’s his zanpakto not the fake zangetsu? Really confusing and am wondering why white was never straight up about it
Personally enjoyed Fullbringers arc. It got flack for being low scale ichigo-centric with great energy bear end. But it was just a different kind of story kubo was trying to tell. Dichotomy of his character when paired up with tsukashima is the complete opposite when mirroring Grimmjow and ulq.
I still think that panel of him grinning behind ichigo during the reveal of the betrayal is one of my favorite panels of the manga (only behind the Aizen "when did you think I wasn't using my shikai" panel)
The massacre of his friends sure had an effect on him. In all Ginjo is an example of Soul Society's bloody baggage having consequences. It's interesting how he and the other deceased Fullbringers have essentially become freeloaders at the Shiba estate, a rather lighthearted continuation of their story.
He was just so well written, you already talked about how his character is well written but I also wanna add a lil bit praise about the genius writing behind his fight against Ichigo, how it developed and was built up to the change in pace and emotions all the while having a Emotional conclusion with Ginjo asking , "Ichigo if you were in my position would you had done the same" & " Ichigo those eyes doesn't look like they want to kill me, they look like they are trying to understand me". He was truly well written from start to finish.
When Ichigo and Ginjo are fighting everyone at the end, you can actually hear Ginjo's thoughts. For me, his genuine confusion and surprise was convincing
@@curtisjackson4090 hmmm I didn't like it because the explanation of the full bring powers had me like...meh? I don't know it was all mediocre to me especially since our guy Chad (whom I am a fan of) got turned into fodder not only that but I felt like the soul society was always watching because it was damn ichigo why wouldn't they always watch him. so no matter what the fullbringers were just going to lose. I do like ginjos reasons which went over my head at first because the soul society (besides ichigos family tree) are legit bad.
The Fullbringer Arc is genuinely my favorite in Bleach. It was totally unlike anything before or after. This arc was a character study of Ichigo and his unwavering drive to protect if he suddenly couldn’t use his Shonen protagonist gifts and the people he needs to protect didn’t want his help.
@@3slicessenpai I doubt that naruto been through a lot of shit in his childhood probably more than ichigo, soo I do not agree on that unless its a joke.
I think it is also too early for its time, like those kind of story arcs don't work that much back then but when a shonen battle series does those type of shit nowadays everybody gets mindblown.
Honestly I hated the ending, we spent the entire arc thinking that the fullbringer were the only way for Ichigo to regain his powers just to have the captains show up at the end to give them back to him like it was nothing and to completely humilliate the fullbringers.
I think that moment during their training where Ichigo ponders about how he can't sense Ginjo's intent is massively underrated. If you managed to figure out what Tsukishima's ability was before that scene, and then read it, it just makes the reveal obvious, but at that point in the arc, we don't yet know what his ability is, nor can we really effectively guess at it. It's the kind of hint that, if done even slightly wrong, can completely ruin a reveal like Ginjo's, but when it's done right, it makes for a massive moment of realization on a reread. If Kubo had given us more information about Tsukishima's ability prior to that scene, or if Ichigo had given more weight to the feeling he got from Ginjo's sword, the reveal at the end would've fallen flat, because we wouldn't have been blindsided how we were. On a first read, Ginjo's reveal is something you're never going suspect when it happens, but on a reread you see all the cracks that Kubo left to hint at it. It's absolutely beautiful
It's a great hint at ulterior motives as well as evidenced in the past when Ichigo encountered Gin and said that he could never understand exactly what Gin wanted whenever they crossed swords and we saw how that panned out with Gin never actually paying attention to Ichigo when they fought and only keeping his attention towards Aizen for when he would have his chance to take him out.
Ginjo is personally the most interesting villain, as what he pursues isn´t fueled by something grandiose he has set himself as a mission No, he suffered at the hands of the soul society, and wants answers, and wants his revenge, he could have been Ichigo, as well as Ichigo could have been him And thats the beauty of him as a villain
I just really like how he was the one to land a fatal blow on Tokinada during the CFYOW Novel, to me that was his shining moment in the series. I also liked when Tokinada offered him his main goal (which is "To change the world") & Ginjo immediately rejected his offer without hesitation, that really spoke a lot for Ginjo's character to me.
He certainly knew such a plan would lead to death and destruction so him rejecting it on moral grounds harks back to his idealistic time as a Shinigami. Common decency too. Tokinada sure was a maniac.
Couldnt said it better. When he beated Tokinada's ass i couldnt help but jump and yell : YEEESSS!!! Always wanted him to have his moment, my soul was happy that it was in such a glorious way, his only intention was to make justice and save a friend, but he saved the words
I hope they throw some kinda semblance or reference to Ginjo's backstory from CFYOW in the upcoming animated TYBW anime, when he makes his appearance there. Maybe a brief convo between him and Ichigo where he reveals a bit more about what motivated him to do what he did? I think it would really add alot to the character and redeem that aspect of him in the eyes of many viewers/readers.
@@suxiruy1 CFYOW = "Cant Fear Your Own World" (A light novel that reveals alot more Bleach lore info) TYBW = "Thousand Year Blood War" (The final manga arc that is getting an animated version soon)
I'll never forget reading that panel where Ichigo is intent on killing Tsukishima and lunges at him. I remember thinking wow he's never had this bloodlust
I love that Ginjo acted as Ichigo's surrogate older brother in the arc. It's always somewhat cathartic and interesting to see a character/protagonist who always has to be the rock for everyone else finally get to be more questioning and vulnerable, even if the stand-in older sibling may not turn out to be who we think/want them to be.
Feel like he got inspired by Yu Yu Hakasho’s main villian Sensui from the 3rd season, as he was a former Spirit detective before Yusuke came, same as Ginjo being a former substitute shinigani representative before Ichigo.
I'm so happy you clarified in such a briliant way how this Arc is actually amazing! It's the most personal arc for ichigo. He grows up So Damn Much in all these events, which makes him worthy of regaining Shinigami Powers.
Personally the lost agent ark was my fav ark, i love learning more about ukitake and seeing ichigo going through another rollercoaster of emotion again, the plot twist or reveal of ginjo's intention is also one of my favs, i also think the fullbringers by far is one of the coolest characters ever
When I first watched Bleach more than 10 years ago, when the Fullbringer arc came, I remember hating it and dropping it. I heard that Jump had some trouble with Kubo and that they wanted him to end the series because it wasn't popular anymore, so I decided to just view the defeat of Aizen as the canon ending of Bleach. But recently I watched the whole series again, including the Fullbringer arc and now I totally love it. It's still a bit strange to see this as part of the Bleach story, since Ichigo losing his powers felt like a complete ending to the series. But the arc is just so well written. I just love it for what it is now.
I haven't finished the video yet, but I wanted to jump in and say that as an anime only fan (not counting The Thousand Year Blood War, which I read in order to understand everything) The Fullbringer Arc is my favourite arc of the entire series. I regularly watch Bleach just to get to that arc because I love it so much. Everything about it just hits so good for me. The stakes, the powers, the new abilities, the almost back-to-basics training that Ichigo has to go through, I just cannot get enough of it. PLEASE GIVE US MORE FULLBRING STUFF KUBO!!
Agreed, I personally haven't read the novels but I learned of Ginjo's backstory from others. The anime/manga in the Fullbring arc makes Ginjo's revenge seem less serious and less thought out
@@Max-zg6ld I understand that but Kubo should've put it in the manga. We don't even know if these novels are even canon to be honest. But I hope Kubo puts it in the anime, I hope he expands upon and changes some things around in the anime.
I think one more thing - Ginjo introduction and the whole training arc was very similar to Shinji and Visored. Which also let people guard down regarding Ginjo.
I really enjoyed Ginjo. Honestly would love to see him return. I always seen him more of a contrast to what Ichigo could have become if he took a different route. Almost like a Nagato vs Naruto vibe. Kubo could have really made this into an amazing arc but of course was very restricted sadly. I hope he brings them back and we get to see more of Ginjō. As a characters he’s fascinating and deserves more screen time given that he’s the first substitute and a contender for the soul king.
Honestly my favorite arc in any anime. Love how they mentally break, and I mean break the main character who can destroy planets. I love it. Seeing him cry only to scream in defiance for his powers to be given back. Amazing. Also Im bummed we didn't get a full analysis on Ginjo. We know his back story from can't fear your own world novels. Maybe 1 day we will.
I always assumed Tensa looked young because the ‘old man Zangetsu’ represented his Quincy powers and in bankai he’s playing more into his shinigami power instead
I always saw it as a soft reset but everyone wanted the soul reapers back. The same thing happened after the soul society arc. They really couldn't go back to the monster of the week format they started with. But they introduced a whole lot of great characters. I really wanted to see more of the eXecution storyline before the big twist. Maybe see them in combat a lot more before they had their first and final fight.
I also love that Book of the end wasn't about power. It moved away from the Shonen "I have the physically strongest move". He was dangerous because his ability was used in a really smart way.
Working within the small box that it is Karakura town, Kubo plays all of his cards really well, crafting a story that is very tightly-contained, has all of the right pieces, and is a very personal story. I get why people didn't like the Fullbring arc but imo it was definitely one of the best-written ones, certainly considering its limited scale. Very fun whodunnit feel.
I never found the Ginjo twist surprising at all because all throughout Ichigos fullbringer training I kept asking myself. How’s this gonna bring back his soul reaper powers? That and when Ginjo said they needed a substitute soul reaper to pass on there fullbring powers I thought, wait Ginjo has a substitute badge why can’t he do it? Other then that I did enjoy the arc :3
Well the Substitute badge was explained by ginjo earlier in the arc. He used it to trick ichigo into thinking Tsukishima killed the first substitute soul reaper, thus ruining their plan to get rid of the fullbringers powers.
I believe the explanation for why he needed the badge was because he needed an object that has imprinted Ichigo's reiatsu into it? You need a personal object to manifest the fullbring, so just using ANY badge wouldn't do anything.
I remember watching the beginning of this arc on shrooms and man I really felt Ichigos, desperation and helplessness and finally caving to meet up Ginjo it was done beautifully.
I caught a couple episodes of this arc animated well before I gave the whole series a read. That said, when this chapter showed up in manga I was a bit curious, but I tried to speed read through it. I really did get caught up though in the writing and the art of this arc. It took me by surprise and ended up becoming my favorite written arc
Having the entirety of the series out now makes it so much easier to appreciate and understand what was going on and what Kubo was going for. However, something to remember is that when it was still being published, after a certain point the chapters were coming out monthly or bimonthly, so remembering what happened the previous month or the one before was an annoying task. Compounding it with Ginjo seemingly flip-flopping constantly made me very aggravated, and it came across as lazy writing where the team had run out of time, so they just switched Ginjo up to try and keep the arc going, and I wonder if that was a similar experience for many of the people who didn't like the Lost Agent arc and still don't. Having read through the entire series multiple times now, I've really come to love that arc, and I wish it had lasted just a little bit longer. It does still feel a little rushed with how often Ginjo changes between good and bad, but it really was done extremely well
Great video about one of my favorite characters. He's defiantly my favorite of the 3 villains shamed his arc didn't give him the same chances Ywach and Aizen got from theirs
Hey Tommo! I was a big fan of bleach back in high school and early college, dropped off during the Fullbringer arc, but finding your channel has totally resparked my passion. You've got me REALLY excited for the TYBW anime and I've really loved your stuff! Thanks for making it!
The illustration and animation for this arc as well as the reigai arc was so good. So good. If you go back and compare it with the very beginning of the manga or anime, they are Worlds Apart
The Fullbring Arc suffers from being caught between the two most high impact parts of Bleach, the end of Aizen's crap and the start of the TYBW, and it gives the reader/watcher whiplash because of not just that, but because of how quickly things go. In the span of 50 chapters/24 episodes, Ichigo meets a shady dude who knows his name and a lot about him, and then has him join his almost cult-like gang and Ichigo just accepts it, I know it's because he's desperate to get power again but still. We then have them do training arc stuff, see one or two scenes of Tsukishima and then everything gets flipped on it's head and GInjo and everyone we've barely gotten to know (some we just don't know at all) are evil now. It felt like narrative psychosis, all it did was confuse everyone and not in a particularly good way. Good thing is that the Lost Agent arc benefits from hindsight and people can now look at the parts that were done well and appreciate them. I liked the arc well enough, but I'm not going to say it's great, Ginjo is a good villain, but he doesn't save what felt like a rushed story, what it really needed was more time to flesh out his backstory, give the supporting villains some more development to make them more endearing or interesting and ultimately give the story beats more time to exist before jumping to the next scene (our final battle saw two villains get literally one shot, one of them by the hilt of a god damn sword). I'm happy we got it, I just wish we got MORE of it so that it could be fully realised instead of seemingly rushed out.
Last agent arc is the best out of em all, TYBW I haven't read I know the outcomes I am Ichihime ALL THE WAY but I feel this is a great arc is we know ichigo is a soul reaper and not just a substitute. It is his 2nd start HE wants the power, it's not taken because of others needing help. ICHIGO development is 9/10 the blade is me is the 10/10
I completely agree with the analogy that Ichigo and the reader share the same viewpoint. Throughout the Fullbring arc, I was constantly ping-ponging on whether Ginjo is bad or good, always taking his words with a grain of salt, but the moment he ran out to bump into Ichigo on the streets after he runs away from home, I was, without hesitation, relieved to see Ginjo show up. "Oh great, Ginjo is alright and knows what's going on! Now he and Ichigo can face Tsukishima, shoulder to shoulder!". And then, when Uryu shows up in the manor and he yells "Kurosaki, *he's* the bad guy!", my brain couldn't process that Ginjo could *possibly* be who Uryu was talking about, because he had my complete trust. So when he betrayed Ichigo, it didn't evoke a sense of shock or "Ah! I knew it!" from me, but more despair, as all those suspicions I had at the start and didn't notice I had discarded somewhere along the way, had come back to bite me and that my trust had been toyed with. Note: But I do agree that his motives are kinda silly. From the little 12th Squad bugs in the World of the Living to Gettei Kaijo (the tattoos) that nerf captains/vice-captains, there was no reason why Ichigo should care about that Badge's secret. Imagine being treated like any other employee by your company's higher ups. And, again, Ichigo and the viewer let out the same "So..?" to Ginjo's explanation of this "betrayal".
Well, the badge allows the Soul Society to spy on them and literally *control* their reiatsu which would make it impossible for them to resist if the Soul Society wanted to do anything to them or those they love. It's like having a gun permanently pointed at them, ready to fire if they do anything Soul Society doesn't like. It's actually kinda fucked up and I understand Ginjo hating that completely. Ichigo telling Ukitake that he's gonna keep the badge despite knowing what it does shows that Ichigo literally trusts them with his life.
No no. Ginjo gave Soul Society the benefit of the doubt despite the fact they had him under surveillance. His backstory is in CFYOW, so here are some spoilers. Ginjo’s squad of friends got murdered by assassins from Soul Society, and they tried to kill him, but he escaped alive. As for the reasons why and many other things, you can find that out yourself. :P
@@tobiisagoodboy8510 Ah gotcha, thanks! I haven't read the novels yet, but I do know that they give Ginjo more backstory. My comment was with anime-only knowledge basically :P
Honestly I wasn't that big a fan when the Lost Agent arc was coming out, but hearing your arguments for it and general passion changed my opinion of it, so I've gained a much greater appreciation for this arc
This was an excellent video Tommo. Probably my least favorite arc in the series and not even my favorite bad guy from the lost agent yet your analysis has opened my eyes to how well written of a character he truly is. Definitely one of my favorite videos you have done ( which Is saying a lot considering I've watched and liked every single video you've ever made excluding the brave souls ones ) hats off to you man and keep up the good work !
Ginjo became my favorite character through this arc but after TYBW and reading CFYOW I like him even more. He got even more development and it made him even better.
Did everyone forget that Ginjo was the first substitute soul reaper and the Soul Society betrayed him, stole his powers, and tried to kill him? Ginjo is legit the good guy, just trying to fight his, and many other good people's enemies, the Soul Society.
No, he’s not a good guy. He attacked a bunch of teenagers, manipulated ichigo to a point of immense depression, gave him the hope of returning his powers, had his friend manipulate all of ichigo s friends into liking tsukushima, which in turn isolated ichigo even further. When he finally gets his powers back, he steals them, and laughs manically while ichigo has a full fledged breakdown. What a good guy.
I remember when i first read this arc when it was initially coming out j instantly liked ginjo even if he was the villain in the end! The arc became an instant favorite of mine even if it does get alot of hate
I have warmed up to this arc over the years, largely in part because of you You had really made the case for this arc but my central issue with it still stands, which is at no point I ever really had the sense that Ichigo was really in danger because of our knowledge of soul society at that point I never felt that he would be ultimately in trouble going because even though he is traumatized and Book at the end seems really powerful, I knew Soul Society/Urahara would come in and make short work of these villains and that's exactly what happened. Ginjo and The Lost Agent Arc is a great villain and arc but in the wrong place, like I felt if it was between the first arc and Soul Society with a few tweaks it would've worked better
I for one actually like Kugo Ginjo, Spoiler below! And I’m glad that he actually came back in The Thousand Year Blood War Arc and can’t Fear Your Own World.” And along with Ichigo was one of the candidates for the possession of Soul King.
Ginjou was Aizen’s betrayal but on a personal level, as we, readers, didn’t have enough time back then to appreciate fake Aizen’s character and how he interacted with the newly introduced shinigamies. It linda reminds me of Aora Takeuchi, from Air Gear.
This comment woke up my dream of seeing Air gear animated from start to finish, lol. I don't even care if they went full 3d cgi or not, I just want them to just do it.
Kubo is great for me he is *THE GOAT* I believe we fell for the good guy act was Cemented in the urahaha training of ichigo's powers before Soul Society. Kisuke was not a friend but not a ally. Why would he turn him into a hollow? But then we know it was to gain the power. So, now ginjo trains ichigo the exact same way.
I was on Ginjo's side. The soul society was the bad guy in his story. And often times in Ichigo's story too. Ginjo had the right to revenge, and even if he didn't, the Soul Society is an empire of evil. Not being the worst doesn't make you good.
I think this works as Ginjo was a good man and a good man is very effective at playing his former role due to it still being there somewhere beneath his understandable bitterness.
This Arc is one of my favorites. It takes a step back from Soul society and grounds itself in the Human world. With the initial loss of Ichigos powers makes the level of danger that much more intense. Much more Phycological danger and I love it.
I also would have liked more Ginjo backstory in terms of what exactly went on with him as the first substitute. I'm thinking back to Ukitake's first glimpse at Ichigo and that shocked look in his eyes, like terrified deja vu. Just how monstrous was he as a soul reaper for why Ukitake did not hesitate to have Ichigo monitored?
His backstory is hinted at, if we piece it together. For example, he states he has an interest (past with) Isshin, who presumably lost his powers because of his mistake with Ginjo. Also, Toshiro (Isshin’s replacement) recognizes Ginjo immediately, further backing this up.
It’s all in CFYOW. So here are some spoilers…..:P Ginjo is actually a good dude who got hunted down and framed by certain members of Soul Society for a certain thing that he, the other fullbringers, and certain other people have or once had. And all his friends back in the day were murdered for the same thing, and he almost died too. Ukitake is a good dude, but a certain someone framed him, so Ginjo thinks he sent the assassins that killed his friends.
I was a late watcher of Bleach but I am so happy that I wasn't spoiled of this arc like I was for most of the others. I mean I "was" but "wasn't". Because it wasn't as popular, people didn't mention it commonly. And when I saw pictures of all the big Bleach villains at the time, it would show Ginjo in his ultimate form, and because it was so different from his standard look, I didn't realize that was Ginjo, which is why I say "was and wasn't".
The key thing that always had me knowing Ginjo is evil is his tactic to make Ichigo think Isshin is conspiring against him. This is a shonen manga first of all, and second Isshin is only ever shown to be a loving and caring father who would never ever hurt his children, doing anything within his power to protect them. Ginjo trying to convince Ichigo of this is ridiculous and completely exposed him to me the entire time.
He had it rough; being the the awkward middle-child villain. The oldest being Aizen- The most popular, fan favourite, all around good villain. The youngest child being Ywach- Everyone has their eyes on him, prodigy child, wonderful organisation. Ginjo; The bullied middle-child that is bullied but a cool person when you get to know them.
The problem is that unless you read the light novel "can't fear your own world", you won't understand Ginjo's motivations. The first time I read the Fullbring arc, I couldn't take Ginjo seriously and found his reasoning pretty dumb. In the novel, you actually learn that some of his fellow fullbringer friends were massacred by shinigamies. His anger and sentiment of betrayal are actually understandable and you understand why he did what he did.
Now that you put it like that i guess i felt the same way only it had a lesser impact on me because i wasnt really that invested in the story. But i taught Ginjo showed up one more time in tybw in one picture around the time when Ganju and his sister appear. Maybe ive confused him with someone else, but Ginjo/Ganju and they look similar my mind has connected them.
@@bqw2094 kinda, but that was the point, I don't think he really cared if he died as long as he vented his anger and Hatred on soul society, I think he would have gone killed Ukitake because he is the one he felt betrayed him the most, kill as many shinigami as he can and then at the end he will be killed, he was consumed by revenge and you can see it too, he didn't show sadness or even anger at Giriko, Tsukishima and Jackie (supposed) death, those are the comrades he want to take revenge for, that's why riruka said Ichigo saved him. Revenge is a recurring theme in Bleach, you can't call Komamura's actions during the TYBW wise, and I am sure he knew the consequences of his actions yet still choose to sacrifice himself for nothing in the end just to avenge Yamamoto. On a different note, we really don't know how strong Ginjou was after he absorbed Ichigo's power.
@@tobbakken2911 even with ichigo's fullbringer , he would have been slaughtered if he attempted to get revenge on the soul society. And the idea of him killing jushiro is laughable , ginjo was effortlessly curbstomped by ichigo .
We could actually get Ichigo fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with Ginjo, Aizen, and Yhwach against whatever Hell unleashes and it’s got me pretty interested.
Tbh, Yhwach is most likely dead and gone, and Aizen's just missing. Neither of them would really fight beside Ichigo anyways, not unless something even more powerful stopped by for milk and cookies, and even that's a bit of a stretch.
@@generaljoe3447 After their brief moment at the end of the series I could see Aizen teaming up with Ichigo @ Co.. This is actually likely to happen since Aizen’s presence was helping maintain balance. They may have to release him from prison just to help keep Hell from taking over.. at least that seems to be what Kubo was hinting at.
@@zfitness2005 Nobody became good. Ginjo and Tsukishima are still the people they are, so is Aizen. That was what was great about the team up in TYBW arc; it was a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of moment.
Holy god, I finally got to watch one of your videos the day it's been posted. I hated the final arc, absolutely hated it. Didn't want anything to do with it until I'd heard that the finale was bamf. Watched the finale, got fantastically confused and intrigued enough to want to go back and read how it got to this point. I ended up loving most everything about it. Riruka and Yukio annoyed me, personal character preference, but the reveal honest to god shocked me. I'd equated Ginjo with Shinji, sketchy but means well. He was a good villain. Tsukishima- I hated him because of what he'd done. I fell in love with Bleach all over again. Kubo is, in my personal opinion, hands down, one of the best artists in both drawing and intricate story telling in my lifetime.
I liked Ginjo's character. I wish they had a back story too. I have a feeling kubo didn't add one, because people like me would of really hated soul society, once the shady shit they do came to light. His down fall was stealing Ichigos power instead of trying to get him on his side. You can tell Ichigo was sad killing Ginjo. Ichigo understood Ginjo, because they had similarities being substitute soul repears who were not much more then societies disposable assets.
I loved the unique build-up and slow burn of Ginjo's character, but what did you think? Is he one of the series' best written bad guys? Let me know!
i quite enjoyed him as a character, i wish we got to see a bit more of how he got to that point and a bit more of who he was after it all resolved.

When Ichigo and Ginjo are fighting everyone at the end, you can actually hear Ginjo's thoughts. For me, his genuine confusion and surprise was convincing

Kubo should consider writing a horror manga. He nails the sense of dread and isolation that ichigo was feeling throught out the arc.

Byakuya: Almost killing the MC with no effort
Aizen: Cloaked as a friend
Ywach: Killing one of the strongest characters
Ginjo: *Noodles.*
Naruto would have died if he was in Ichigo's place in this arc. The shock of the betrayal of Noodle Man would have killed him.

Fullbring Arc in general is very underappreciated. Maybe new watchers will love it more when TYBW is out and Fullbring is a transition arc
Easily one of the best-written characters in Bleach.
*No one,* not even Aizen, broke Ichigo as much as he did.
Well said, and as a fan that was reading this weekly... VERY accurate.
Facts because the first watch i was literally feeling everything Ichigo was, now I’m here and I’m like wow…you’re a liar 😭 but i still like you 😩
Ginjo is personally the most interesting villain, as what he pursues isn´t fueled by something grandiose he has set himself as a mission
No, he suffered at the hands of the soul society, and wants answers, and wants his revenge, he could have been Ichigo, as well as Ichigo could have been him
And thats the beauty of him as a villain
I just really like how he was the one to land a fatal blow on Tokinada during the CFYOW Novel, to me that was his shining moment in the series. I also liked when Tokinada offered him his main goal (which is "To change the world") & Ginjo immediately rejected his offer without hesitation, that really spoke a lot for Ginjo's character to me.
He certainly knew such a plan would lead to death and destruction so him rejecting it on moral grounds harks back to his idealistic time as a Shinigami. Common decency too. Tokinada sure was a maniac.
U should have put down that you were getting ready to drop spoilers because not everyone has read CFYOW yet

Pls what do those acronyms mean pls
@@suxiruy1
CFYOW = "Cant Fear Your Own World" (A light novel that reveals alot more Bleach lore info)
TYBW = "Thousand Year Blood War" (The final manga arc that is getting an animated version soon)
Or they just adapt the CFY0W, which is a much better option, than suddenly shoehorning a backstory where it is not supposed to.
Ichigos progression through this arc was awesome
The lost agent is one of my overall favorite arks ginjo was written so well I loved the every moment of the ark
Feel like he got inspired by Yu Yu Hakasho’s main villian Sensui from the 3rd season, as he was a former Spirit detective before Yusuke came, same as Ginjo being a former substitute shinigani representative before Ichigo.
Shūkurō Tsukishima seems to be also base off of sensui
Yes, i was thinking the same. The arc in general.
Claerly...but the original is way more awesome
Been waiting on this video! Ginjo is a great character. Him and Tsukishima have a fantastic dynamic.
I really liked this arc a lot, i really like betrayal esc story lines and you don’t see it too often in shonen
Kubo should've showed us his full backstory during the arc, it's such a shame Kubo had to rush the TYBW arc because I think he was gonna do it then.
read CFYOW its got alot more context in there.
@@AndréVilaFranca they are canon, Kubo designed both Bankais and gave ideas for Narita to write. But yeah i hope they get animated too.
@@AndréVilaFranca He literally couldn't, the arc was Bleach's rock bottom, he had to finish it to start the final arc.
I think one more thing - Ginjo introduction and the whole training arc was very similar to Shinji and Visored. Which also let people guard down regarding Ginjo.
A shinji and vizard...really a waist
Have you see the original lost agent arc en yuyo hakusho? That is really something
He’s an underrated character 🔥
One of my favorite characters in the series. Especially with his development in CFYOW.
Ginjo and the rest of the fullbringers have some of the coolest character designs in the story
Can you do a video about White Ichigo and Tensa Zangetsu analysis (why we never saw young Tensa even when Ichigo got his powers back) next please
Finally a Ginjo video 🔥🔥🔥🔥
100% man he is the best villain in my mind, he didnt have enough time. I wish he had a longer story or maybe just more story like you said!
@@NaClO ah ok then :3
I believe the explanation for why he needed the badge was because he needed an object that has imprinted Ichigo's reiatsu into it? You need a personal object to manifest the fullbring, so just using ANY badge wouldn't do anything.
I remember watching the beginning of this arc on shrooms and man I really felt Ichigos, desperation and helplessness and finally caving to meet up Ginjo it was done beautifully.
Ginjo has been a fav of mine since first reading the arc as it was coming out, he's cool
It does still feel a little rushed with how often Ginjo changes between good and bad, but it really was done extremely well
the reveal is one of my favorite moments in all of bleach
Ginjo and the fullbringers history with Tsukishima seems CRAZY similar to Aizen and the Gotei 😮
First hell yeah. Hey from South Africa bro. Love your vids your rock
Let's go a new video!
IVE WAITED SO LONG FOR A VIDEO OF GINJO LOVE YOU MAN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 👍 🤘🤘
I've basically watched all your videos and i just found it like a month ago loving the content keep up the great work
Last agent arc is the best out of em all, TYBW I haven't read I know the outcomes I am Ichihime ALL THE WAY but I feel this is a great arc is we know ichigo is a soul reaper and not just a substitute.
This ark was a certified *chefskiss* in terms of writing.
Honestly I wasn't that big a fan when the Lost Agent arc was coming out, but hearing your arguments for it and general passion changed my opinion of it, so I've gained a much greater appreciation for this arc
That arc had elements that reminded me of the Sensui arc from Yu Yu Hakusho.
Ginjo was a product of his environment given extraordinary gifts and had them taken away from him by people that didn't understand him....
Ginjo became my favorite character through this arc but after TYBW and reading CFYOW I like him even more. He got even more development and it made him even better.
in the anime when ichgio block ginjo energy attack was just badass
I have warmed up to this arc over the years, largely in part because of you
You had really made the case for this arc but my central issue with it still stands, which is at no point I ever really had the sense that Ichigo was really in danger because of our knowledge of soul society at that point
I never felt that he would be ultimately in trouble going because even though he is traumatized and Book at the end seems really powerful, I knew Soul Society/Urahara would come in and make short work of these villains and that's exactly what happened.
Ginjo and The Lost Agent Arc is a great villain and arc but in the wrong place, like I felt if it was between the first arc and Soul Society with a few tweaks it would've worked better
Another great video
I for one actually like Kugo Ginjo, Spoiler below!
And I’m glad that he actually came back in The Thousand Year Blood War Arc and can’t Fear Your Own World.” And along with Ichigo was one of the candidates for the possession of Soul King.
Ginjo did the wrong thing for the right reasons
Ginjou was Aizen’s betrayal but on a personal level, as we, readers, didn’t have enough time back then to appreciate fake Aizen’s character and how he interacted with the newly introduced shinigamies.
It linda reminds me of Aora Takeuchi, from Air Gear.
This comment woke up my dream of seeing Air gear animated from start to finish, lol.
I don't even care if they went full 3d cgi or not, I just want them to just do it.
Gotta give Mr Tommo props for saying suspicious the right way. Appreciated.
Ginjo is great, deadass may be my favorite character.
You should probably do Retsu unohana, whether she is good or evil.
He already did a video on Retsu/Yachiru Unohana! Check it out
dude, i love fullbringer arc, i dun care what everyone says.. very well done
We barley even knew Aizen before he turned, but we actually get to know more about this guy.
@@tobiisagoodboy8510 Ah, okay. I read vol 1 and part way into vol 2 but I think I'll have to start the set again. I remember nothing.
I liked him, and he became even more likable after I finished CFYOW
I was a late watcher of Bleach but I am so happy that I wasn't spoiled of this arc like I was for most of the others. I mean I "was" but "wasn't". Because it wasn't as popular, people didn't mention it commonly. And when I saw pictures of all the big Bleach villains at the time, it would show Ginjo in his ultimate form, and because it was so different from his standard look, I didn't realize that was Ginjo, which is why I say "was and wasn't".
My issue was it wasn't long enough for me in the anime. They could have dragged the final fight out a bit more
Ginjo is the love child of Aizen's devious intellect and a mullet.
I saw the title and thought it said "GANJU: GOOD or EVIL" and I was incredibly confused.
Wish Ginjo and xcution could go head to head with some shinigami and not get wrecked. Be nice for humans to represent
This is my favorite arc!
Now that you put it like that i guess i felt the same way only it had a lesser impact on me because i wasnt really that invested in the story. But i taught Ginjo showed up one more time in tybw in one picture around the time when Ganju and his sister appear. Maybe ive confused him with someone else, but Ginjo/Ganju and they look similar my mind has connected them.
i want to know how he got his shinigami powers in the first place
Daaang this might spark some arguments 🤣🤣
Yeah , ginjo's plan was kind of stupid
@@bqw2094 his plan might be stupid but he got dat drip doe😳😳😩
@@bqw2094 his plan worked so how is it stupid?
I hope Kubo doesn’t make a trend of villains becoming good guys cuz Yhwach was just plain evil there is no redemption for him
Tbh, Yhwach is most likely dead and gone, and Aizen's just missing.
Like yusuke and shinsui
Was he forshadowed by Ukitake and Byakuya on the first arc?
Ginjo appreciation video 👍👍👍
