- In this video, I start the process of repairing the 820-2936 motherboard from a dumper dived (I think) 2011 MacBook Pro by replacing the LP8550 backlight driver chip. The backlight now works, but there's still more to do.

-- How I make my videos --
I use Final Cut Pro on my custom built Xeon E3 Hackintosh, and film with a Canon EOS 60D. I use a pair of large fluorescent studio lights for most of my work, but may use various other types if filming away from the room I usually film in. I have a really overfilled lab, which is usually where I dig up the tech seen in my videos.

The music used in the Dodoid and Dodoid Advent Calendar intros is AdhesiveWombat - Bombs. Other AdhesiveWombat songs are sometimes used.
Nice :-)
Would love to see this Mac working properly again. Keep up the great work!
Early-2011 MBPs are total junk. I have one with a likely failing SMC, a dying CPU, and a damaged screen. Plus, when I got it, the MagSafe plug was faulty!. It seems these models don't hold up well.
Or you don't treat it well...

Ahhh...
did you ever get it going?
Is this hard for someone to do?
couldn't u replace the smc chip
Yes, but the issue is that I don't know whether the SMC is broken or something related to it is. It could be that the chip itself is malfunctioning, but it could also be for example that the circuitry that powers it, or enables it, or connects it to the rest of the laptop is broken. That's what I'm trying to work out right now.
