  • How to preserve an egg shell for an art project. We clean out the yolk of an egg and preserve an egg shell shole for use in a display or an art project. This is a thing my grandmother used to do with goose eggs and send them to school for us to decerate as a class.

Thanks! How long will these eggs last like this? I’ve got two bluebird eggs that didn’t hatch in a nest in my nest box. It’s been so fun monitoring the box and watching the ones that did hatch grow. We even witnessed them fledge! I’m going to try and preserve the leftover eggs and maybe even donate them to a nature center for education if I can find one who will take them. I’m going to try this method and hopefully it will be successful!

That is too cool. My African Grey Parrot laid her 1st egg today. She is our pet so there is no male. A friend of mine shared your video so I am going to try to preserve her egg. Great instructions...I am so grateful to have this video

I did this as a kid. You can use a thumb tack to create the holes on each side, just push in . Does the straw make blowing it out easier? My craft book had us just blow it out.

My parakeet laid a bunch of tiny little unfertilized eggs and I want to try and preserve at least one because they're so small. Thank you for this! Oh, and parakeet eggs taste like chicken eggs 😂

I used a needle and the end of a knife and slightly taped the knife into the needle took a minute but made the perfect holes

Yeah, still brainstorming the look I want. Can’t choose between a simple egg in a box or a full on display. May just keep it simple. Any ideas?

@@SandstoneValleyFarm how about two or three eggs in a raffia nest in the box, you can even add a few smaller flowers to spill over the edge. good luck and it will be cute what ever you decide, stay safe and well.

I used your method with a Capri sun straw instead of the normal straw size..it fit so much better in the small holes and creates a better push.
Also if you put a small amount of like tacky glue in the area for the holes..it helps prevents cracking more when making the holes
Went to see my Granny last weekend and she gave me 8 goose eggs and duck and chicken eggs!! Going to make my Granny and 7 Aunt's a Easter egg!! It's my first try doing any of this, very excited 😁 will try to remember to post pictures of final egg's!!!

Just had our first egg laid 2 days ago and that was a big moment! We will definitely preserve it thanks to your video. Thank you for sharing this. Any ideas for preserving it even further, ie. Making it hardened, coated with something to prevent accidental crushing, etc? Thanks!

Awesome! We never did anything to them. Maybe get an egg you don’t care about and coat with resin? Let me know if you find something!

Sandstone Valley Farm I just need to get a syringe to clean out the inside of the egg

@albert fish after I couldn’t get the syringe I just decided that letting it dry for long enough is close enough

@albert fish it didn’t have an embryo and I imagine if I left the yolk in there it’d spoil
