My wife and I have been avid hikers since the 1970s. The views on the hike out of Leadville were jaw dropping. It brought tears to our eyes. Keep up the great work and be safe. All the best, Eugene & Cynthia Cole
Beautiful! I love Collegiate Peaks. Spend a lot of time hiking there every spring and fall. The Arkansas River (East Fork of the Arkansas River) originates around Mount Arkansas in the Mosquito Range (between Copper Mtn and Leadville). It joins with Tennessee Creek (flowing from the Tennessee Pass) to officially form the Arkansas River west of Leadville, Colorado. Not sure I understand the guy backtracking 15 miles to charge his phone batteries. CDT is quite straight forward in Colorado. Weather continues to be perfect for your hike. Enjoy the most beautiful time in Colorado.
7:33 The next time you are in Leadville, you might want to check it out. The Headwaters of Arkansas River is about 1 mile west of town. The headwaters of the East Fork Arkansas River is about 8 miles northeast of town on Mt Arkansas. You sure times timed your hike perfect for the Fall colors. Those are some of the best Aspen colors I have ever seen. 😎👍
Kelly, Good afternoon! Yep, like I said a hundred miles back, this trip is amazing and I’d still be in mile One, just beautiful! You are very blessed….. Take care and safe travels!
You definitely hit the timing of those Aspens right… and the snow capped peaks are gorgeous! I recognize many CO portions of your hike, since I did the CT last summer. So great to see again, in a different season.
Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better, boom --> 10:0510:11 Gorgeous! Good to see Tripod and Popeye! I have terrible allergies and asthma, so this is only a suggestion... Have you considered a rescue inhaler like Primatene to have just in case? Hope your lungs feel better. Take care Kelly ✌️🎉
And I thought the last video had amazing views. The golden aspens and snow-covered peaks were beautiful. Ibet they were breathtaking in person. Thank you.
..What a great town stay .. and set up with a couple of chefs ,, prepared food looks SO good ... Agree Leadville is an awesome town ,, your trek through Twin Lakes is beautiful ... Keep that cough in check ,, mid states have been reporting a run of Whooping Cough ... Hope you're ready with winter gear , it's going to get cold and maybe wet .... Stay Safe ...
Howdy Kelly! So glad y’all have the colors and the snow! Wait till you see the San Juan’s as well! Amazing day for y’all! Love the share! Saddle up! 🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️
Your mountain vistas are so Fall. There is a melancholy in the Fall, things have “peaked” and are dying, the smells of Fall are mind numbing, the smell of tannic acid in rotting leaves and dead grasses just remind us that there is an end of all that’s been sweet during the year. Very romantic very heart rending, very melancholy and sweet.💕 Stay safe, (and warm), luv yer pics and journal entries.
Yes love Leadville...we use to take our kids up to twin lakes area all the time and camp on the Arkansas River. Can't believe you will be out of Colorado before we know it : )
Good choice on going for the west collegiates. Way better. I'm amazed at the differences I see in your vids from my NOBO 2023. All you experienced in this video was covered in snow. I was basically alone for half of CO. Vast majority of Nobos either flipped or just road walked. Enjoy what's ahead. The colleagiates are awesome!
Great job and video as always! Yes, this is a beautiful time (apen viewing) to be here. The other is during wildflower season (late July). Glad the weather will be good for you for the foreseeable future. Be safe and enjoy!
First - Happy Birthday! Second - I've got a daughter a bit younger than you - what a role model you are! Third - OMG - what a hunky husband! Lol - Good Choice, Motly! Fourth - I'm so glad you're still posting - your videos are bright spots in all of our days.
man, I don't know how y'all haven't taken a kayak day yet.. SOO Many RIvers and Creeks to play in up there!!! Love the videos though!! Stay safe out there and enjoy Colorado and New Mexico!!
Hey Kelly, was in Leadville 42 years ago and one of my memories was about a haunted house that I took a picture of, saw a figure in the window that turned out to be a manniquin, forgot all about it til i saw this video. While you were touring the town filming, there it was. Thanks for the memory. HIKE ON!
I JUST KEEP ADDING PLACES TO VISIT ON MY BUCKET LIST🤣🥰💗🙏 Hoping to see that beautiful place someday!! Thank you for sharing!! I usually watch you tube on my phone, but I decided to put it on my tv to see it bigger and more beautiful!! SPECTACULAR 😍😍😍
o00o0 I saw High Mountain Pies! Was in Leadville in early August but was not able to stop there :/ for first time in 11 years of going.....okok back to the video !! :)
Popeye... Yeh... Its good to see Popeye and Tripod. Kelly, I think that's the same AirB&B that my youngest daughter rents when she goes to Leadville 2 times a year, at least it looks alot like it. I will be glad when y'all get out of the San Jauns.
Awesome video! I thought Popeye would make an appearance! Good to see him again. As cool as the Colorado videos have been, I'm really looking forward to seeing you enter New Mexico and relish the back end of this thru hike!
Hey Kelly, it's odd that you began this latest hiking segment at the South Elbert Trailhead, and you passed right by Mt. Elbert (it shows in some of your panorama shots), but you never mentioned the significance of it. Mt. Elbert (14,440 ft) is the highest mountain in Colorado - and the second highest mountain in the contiguous United States. Elbert is just slightly lower than Mt. Whitney in California (which is the highest mountain in the lower 48 States). Because of its accessibility from the Twin Lakes road, Elbert is frequently climbed by folks who are "peak bagging" the fourteeners, and is a nice winter ascent.
This is awesome.. SIlver Dollar Saloon.. One of my favs when there! Leadville has so much stinking character! I heard whoever mention "cop car"(!!) coming into Twin Lakes at around 6:52. . How about my fishing rod in that "cop car"? haha.. Seriously.. You have a bunch more fun stuff likely way behidn you.. Nobody wanted to take a side to summit Elbert??

Kelly, I'm old and I've got cancer, so I'm stuck in the house. Your videos are just the best! It's a great escape for me! Thank you. 😊
Prayers for you ❤️I do these videos for you and others in similar circumstances.

Colorado in the Fall is so beautiful!
Like the idea of Gelato as an appetizer. You know what they say, "Life is short. Eat dessert first." 😊

Heavenly scenery! Beautiful colors
I’ve been to Colorado, but in the far northeast part of the state. Julesburg was part of the Oregon Trail.
Such an extraordinary journey we have gone along with you on....
The fall colors are magical. Hope you'll be back to Colorado just for a photography trip.

Never in my life could i imagine saying we only have 350 miles left to hike ...in Colorado
The guy who walked back fifteen miles to get his phone charged wins a new head and a toilet seat to stick it through.

And he cute too!! 😁
Awesome to see Popeye! ❤
Your dry cough at altitude sounds a bit like exercise induced asthma. An Albuterol inhaler may help. Cheers!
Kelly, will you be planning the Leadville 100 as a future event?
Ok whats up with you and green shirt black shorts dude? 😉😂
Nose problem?
Definitely some chemistry there.
@@r.blossum3953yeah I’ve noticed that too.

There are worse things than cold weather. It could be 110 degrees outside.
4 days without a video. Are you okay, Kelly?
Kelly's so gorgeous ❤
Buy you an oxygen canister. Weights nothing.
Good morning Kelly! Praying for your safety and strength to hike those icy mountains ⛰️. Be careful out there and God will be guiding and protecting your days hiking. Take care and God be with all the time.❤🙏🙏
*Highest, not tallest.
You might have altitude sickness. Seems like you’ve had it since the higher altitude you’ve been in.
