THANK YOU, YOU ARE HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT CAREERS. I APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE.
ILY THANK YOU
‘I have a mouth in my hair’ XD
I'm a Chemistry Student, from Brazil. I discovered your YT Channel now and I'm really enjoying it.
I’m so glad!! Thank you for the support
It's not a Christmas tree.
It's a Chemistree.
I have a chemistry degree and I haven't really used my degree to do any serious job, I am Nigerian and getting a chemistry based job is just hard.i am currently working as a chef and really hoping better opportunities open up fast to me
Did you find anything?
Maybe you could get into grad school? I am in a western country and there are a lot of Nigerian people in our chemistry graduate programs. They pay for you to live there as well.
I am really looking forward to updates on your job search, right now highly considering a biochemistry degree.
Awesome! I will try to keep you all as updated as possible ❤️
if i was you I would go for a biochemistry or biomed degree. I just graduated with a MSC in chemistry at Brighton Uni with a 2:1. During my degree we could pick bio or geo modules to study. I picked only bio-related modules, so I would sometimes even share module with some biochem students. However, now when I try to apply for lab jobs analysing bio samples (lets say in the NHS) they mainly want biochemistry or biomed students as they can then register with the HNCI (can't remember how to spell it). This is basically an organisation that regulates and makes sure that certain professionals have been properly trained before going into working for the health sector. I reckon biochem students get taught around the same material as chem students but a bit less in depth (i.e. not too much emphasis on inorganic and physical chem). You may think that the difference is huge but on my opinion I am still trained and have similar experience in about the same techniques as my biochem colleagues. Now, if you really like the research aspect of chemistry don't worry cause biochem will also offer the same opportunities to go into research. You could even go for a masters that goes more in depth into the organic or inorganic aspects of chemistry, if you wanted further training. Tbh this last option would even be perfect just in case you didn't want to close yourself too many doors. sorry for my broken English, I am from Spain!!!
Hi there... I'm working in a ferro alloys industry as a chemist, I'm really enjoying your videos
Thank you!!
hi GIll, which one do you think better : apprenticeship on chemistry or study at Univ because in apprenticeship you literally learn through experience while working your way up. and is it would be easier to find a job if you have many experience years or a degree?.
btw, nice video though :D
Thank you this was really helpful im trying to go to grad school i was struggling what major i should apply to
I’m glad it helped :)
Hi Gill ! Its Sinemis.I accepted from a chemistry department in one of the good universities in my country (Turkey). I've also been accepted into chemical engineering, but I'm not good at math and physics and I don't want to fail but it scares me that payments to chemists all over the world are so low.
I guess I will choose chemistry- next to my school, I will study Business Administration at a different university same time.I have never be a person that know what they gonna do.
Will this do any good for my career?
Please enlighten me! Your ideas are very valuable to me, thank you in advance best regards !
For those from the UK chemical science does not pay well so bare this in mind
Thank you very much! This was so helpful. You’re also super super gorgeous!! ❤️❤️
Thank you :)
At about 0:09 I was feeling chemistry. You are a cool lady.
I’m just curious are you pre med or what are your career goals?:) are you trying to be a professor?:)
Hi! I am actually currently looking into career options, because I am thinking of doing grad school for maybe something medical but not med school :)
What's the 'job title' of your new job, and what does the company actually do? :D
We do pharmaceutical research and I am a lab technician for processing the biological samples for the clinical trials👩🏽🔬
@@theLifeofGill Nice! Good luck in your job, Gill!
Thank you!!
Have you ever learned about jobs chemistry graduates do that aren't lab based?
Teaching/ tutoring is a good example of something that isn't lab-based, but I also know of people that went into pharmaceutical sales as well :)
What is your salary?
It is a shame that in the UK chemical science graduate positions pay little above minimum wage (£19k-£24k). I wish I was in the US where the pay is a lot better and more scope for opportunity
I dont know wtf im doing anymore help
Is it possible to do chemical engineering with a chem degree? I’m currently doing a chem degree and I’m about to graduate in a year. Thought of doing chemical engineering in masters but I’m not too sure about how to go about it. JUST CONFUSED AT THE MOMENT
Yes! There are also chem engineering undergrad programs
Have you shadowed someone doing chem engineering I've heard disappointing things about it.
Shit man even though I'm in the UK im actually so scared to go uni. Im only 16 and I'm so scared to grow up 😥
Aw don't be! It's exciting!
Fuck bro same as you here!!!!!
Hey I just wanna say it is hard sometimes because you’re now responsible for all your successes and failures. But you also have tremendous freedom to make your own decisions. Just take it a day at a time and focus on making daily progress to your goals. You don’t have to know everything you want yet! Certain jobs you won’t know you like until you’re there, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself that you HAVE to do X jobs.
Yeah if you considerong chemistry just be aware that the pay here in the UK is terrible and a msc is almost a compulsory. Just a heads up
Thanks!
Master Graduate from French University in Green Chemistry; Applying for job In Europe about 5month ---> NO JOB
You ever thought about becoming a cosmetic chemist?
I have actually, but don’t know too much about it!
I’m currently a 2nd year biochem major and kinda nervous about my potential career path in terms of earning a good salary. How is the salary you are making now and do you think there will be ample opportunity to increase your salary w/o a PhD/graduate school? Glad you were able to find a job :)
Thank you! And that's awesome! And I think that the salary I have now is good for an entry level job, but the pay from here (as far as moving up in your career) can depend on different factors like what company you work for and how long you are in the industry. But yes, I think that going to grad school or getting your PhD will definitely put you at a higher salary.
If you form the UK chemical sciemces pay terribly 🤦🏽♂️
I love chemistry. I'm from Africa, would it be possible to find a job in the States?
Yeah! I don't know too much how the transfer works, but my friend from Nigeria did the same major as me and did great :)
theLifeofGill any way we could reach out to you, if you don’t mind? Got a couple of questions
Do you work for a pharmaceutical company?
I am doing BS Chemistry. In future my plan is to get PHD in chemistry can you tell what is highest paid job for chemist in USA and what are the salary?
Hi! I did associate degree in science (chemistry majors) what kind of job I can get into?? Can u help me??
I recently found out I was pregnant and also just graduated with a chemistry degree 😳 I’m a little hesitant to apply to jobs but all my friends are encouraging me to! What do you think about getting a new job while pregnant?
Aw congrats! I definitely think you still should. I am sure that there are various jobs (like mine) that would still be safe for you and your baby. I just would be careful if it is an organic chemistry lab, and obviously in any case wear your PPE! But, it is possible that you could work in a company that has some remote jobs in the pharmaceutical industry that could let you focus more on your pregnancy. But good luck!! I am sure you have a lot going on but it will work out ☺️
@@theLifeofGill thank you so much for the advice. Looking for Labs in Miami to apply to! 😁
congratulations and good luck !!
I come from India in uk and having chemistry degree . should i continue here with chemistry and how?
What’s your company name if I may ask?
You go gurl friend
:)
Why are chem jobs such crappy salary
I am a biochem student from a university in NC. I will be taking analytical physics with calc, calc 1 and intro to chem this fall. any tips? is physics scary?
I have never taken analytical physics but i liked the physics classes I took!
Hi me too
Is 3 months enough to get a job with chemistry major (masters)?
I think so! There are a lot of jobs but again it all depends where you look
is it easy to get a forensic science job just with a chemistry degree?
I’m actually not too sure about that, I do know a lot of forensics jobs require some forensics class experience
Hello!Sister
Holy shit you're beautiful
...I went halfway through the video before hearing anything you said LOL had to go back 😅
I am from India.i have completed my masters of chemistry in organic.i am also working in industry as Chemist.i want to do job in Canada.is there opportunities for job for me? please reply.
To be honest, I know nothing about jobs in Canada :(
Where ?
go back....
did jobs ask for your GPA?
Nope never!
@@theLifeofGill Oh Thank goodness!
Hello🥰
u seem like suck a chill person
such
Hehe thank u
Hey , I’m currently in first year chemistry ( bsc + msc ) dual degree . I wish to pursue research in neuroscience . What would be the right pathway for it ?
Thanks in advance
Hi! So when you graduate you will have a bachelors in addition to your masters in chemistry? That’s awesome! I think if you want to pursue neuroscience I would shoot for the PHD. A lot of programs are paid for if you do that as well
@@theLifeofGill yea phd seems to be the best option and maybe i can do an additional online course while complete my dual degree ! Thanks for helping !
Of course! And Masters programs are also a possibility, you just have to pay for those more often than getting you PHD (which is mostly focused around research). Good luck with everything!!
Have you ever thought about using your degree in entrepreneurship, like Walter White? 😉
😂😂
Im chemistry student from México and I want to do a master in UBC. :)
thks for your video!!!
