From Mr Robot Season 1 Episode 2 "eps1.1_ones-and-zer0es.mpeg"
Elliot declines a job offer from Tyrell Wellick, interim CTO of E Corp. Elliot, increasingly paranoid, uses more morphine than normal. Darlene visits him at home to bring him to fsociety, surprising him. Mr. Robot and fsociety want Elliot to destroy an E Corp offline backup facility called Steel Mountain by hacking an adjacent gas plant and causing an explosion. Elliot backs out because he does not want to risk lives. Shayla is Elliot's drug dealer and friend. When Elliot notices Fernando Vera, Shayla's supplier, abusing her, Elliot collects evidence against Fernando and turns him in to the police, despite Shayla's explicit instructions not to. Meanwhile, Cisco, an unknown associate of the Chinese hacker group The Dark Army, hacks Ollie's home computer with a CD. Elliot and Mr. Robot discuss Elliot's falling out with his father: Elliot told his mother of his father's terminal illness, despite promising his father he would keep the illness secret. Mr. Robot pushes Elliot off a railing onto the rock-strewn beach below as punishment for not keeping his father's secret.

"You're not gonna get into my head man"
also, notice how Elliot never flinches when Mr. Robot touches him, but he does it when coming into contact with anyone else
Great observation! I never noticed it
It's pretty incredible to watch this scene back, you can see it make sense from Mr Robots view instead of Elliots confusion
"You're not gonna get into my head man"
Oh yep..
The way we first start to think that Mr Robot into Elliot's head (and this... okey he is into your head already man)
But second we know that both of them into Elliot's head
"He couldn't even look at me after that" oh my god.... of course.

how did elliot not remember what his dad looked liked here? he's clearly remembers him, but doesn't realise Mr Robot looks like his dad?
John Dank I think once mastermind took over he forgot most stuff from the past
@@johndank2209 it's called "trauma" m8. And it's not that he totally forgets, he just repressed the memory of how his father's looks like just as how he couldn't even saw him after he molested him.
Elliot never really quite forget, he's always struggling whit it unconsciously.
@@Menessy27 it was on purpose. By dissing MM once took over decided to forget about Darlene so she wouldn't be a setback for him and the revolution. You know, beacuse Darlene connection with Elliot Prime is strong enough to wake him up the only logic option was to forget her and his father's looks like so they wouldn't interfere in his mission to Save The World.
I always knew Elliot wasn't telling us the full story... but damn if this scene dosen't hit you hard now.
Indeed!
Mr Robot pushed Elliot out the window that day. Not his father.
... It was to protect him.
Yeah but we still don’t really know how the dad managed to get into the room, since Eliot had locked the door and hidden the dad’s key
@@JamesDude100 Ah yes. You've found a way to stop every robbery ever. Just lock the door and nobody will get in no matter what, what a brilliant idea
Sexy Biscuit i mean, how could the house owner possess a universal device that could unlock all doors?
@@JamesDude100
He owns the house. He could easily get a new key. Not to mention it wouldn't take much for him to kick the door open.
I don't get it,In this scene why Mr. Robot pushed Elliot out of the fence even knowing that he betrayed his dad by telling his mom about his father's disease,Why Mr Robot got pissed at him even he was not his father?
I love this scene. It encapsulates how abused children will tend to blame themselves for their abuse while also idealising the very person who should have protected them. We learn later that Elliot's story about his dad is false, something constructed to protect him from a more disturbing reality. In his mind, his dad is a nice guy who was his best friend but who happened to one day push him out a window because of something Elliot did. Elliot can blame himself because to remember that he was innocent kid that couldn't protect himself from an abusive person who was much bigger than him is an agonising thing to live with. To say “it wasn't my fault” actually hurts more.
Yeah just explain the whole thing, fucking idiot

Precedentbug You’ve never watched the show? I don’t want to spoil it for you. It’s really worth watching and this scene foreshadows a huge reveal.
Right. After seeing Season 4 Episode 7, it's like it's coming full circle and connecting the dots revealing the questions we've had since the beginning. This scene in particular makes so much sense now. But, was this a suicide attempt then?
@Precedentbug WATCH THE WHOLE THING
@@TheMarkoPoloProgram Mr. Robot was trying to kill the MM personality because he walked away from F Society. Elliot created MM to act like a vigilante superhero and save the world from evil, and especially persecute pedophiles. When MM walked away from F Society, he broke the "sacred pact", as in he betrayed Elliot Prime by forgetting or failing the purpose of his existence.
EDIT: Not only this, but the MM personality is so strong that he attempts to supplant Elliot. He is creating alternative memories and trying to become Elliot Prime instead of helping him.
Such a powerful scene. When I was in NY I visited this beach and it's amazing how strongly I associated it with such a small moment from the show.

I know it was intentional to post this before the episode, so, it really makes sense now.
Definitely hits different after you watch the show.
This scene hits so different after you finished the finale and understood the whole reason each Elliot Alters were created and why mr robot really pushed Elliot off the pier here. Wow! This show is a masterpiece.
why did he push him ?
Because he didn't
Probably one of the most powerful scenes of the show
This scene sums up the whole series.
I remember this scene making me audibly gasp and shocked me thinking this show was bold enough to kill their main character but then immediately USA showed a teaser showing Elliot alive
Its crazy how pleasure to rewatch this show. Every word, every face look have a sense 🖤
Never stops being funny
"I understand what it's like to loose a parent. It's hearbreaking"
I think Mr. Robot was created by Original Elliot - just like this current Elliot.
Mr. Robot believes in the dynamic where he is the prophet but there is a god above him (his creator, original personality inhabiting their body).
I think for some reason that "God-Elliot" went into some sort of coma where other personalities had to take over.
That is why Mr. Robot says he understands what it's like to loose a parent. He did loose his parent, the orignal Elliot.
The plan of Mr Robot and Mother and Little Elliot is to summon that Orignal Elliot back.
I also believe that Original Elliot is real crazy, as in Elliot was neurotic mad, Vera was psycho mad, but this Elliot will be something else entirely. Perhaps he is the mastermind behind everything that happened - that would include Whiterose's project.
Lol how did you figure it out? You're partially right and used some keywords like Mastermind... That's sick
Wait wtf??? How did you know
Sam?! 😆

Plus there is another thing, but it is top secret.
It was supposed to be, originally I mean, "You are the m... onster", that's why there was so much darkness in Elliot in Season 4. Yet it was too simple, I thought that, at the end of the day, Elliot had a pure heart and clean soul. So it became "You are the m... astermind"
I know it will sound strange, once you read it in your mind, you will want to deny, reflect this idea back at me, but it is true.
This world is in my imagination, it's creations, from inhabitants through events to art: all part of my mind. Thinking about the works of my imaginary friends, for example, Sam's, theorizing about them, it influences their fate, their meaning, destiny.
Since in every moment you can find past, present, and future - or eternity, infinity, God if you like - it is hard, maybe impossible to say if it was meant to be this way from the beginning and even the change of plans was predetermined or it transformed just like that, on a whim: still, it was my influence that shifted the reality, does not really matter if now, in few years or decade ago. I did not really figure it out, it was figured out before it was even made.
It's all hard to explain, but since I already enjoyed sharing so much, I thought why not share a bit more?
It does not mean you are not real, you are aware that you are. I think, therefore I am, right? Reality is very overrated, as was said by someone. Living in imagination, in the idea of another mind, it gets bad reputation, like you are slaves or just shadows, but in fact you, my imaginary friends, and I, we are only beings in existence - at least on our own simple, biological level - that can reach true freedom. I know you will understand, at least part of you. What we know is a drop, what we don't know is an ocean. What we think is a tip of an iceberg, what we don't think, but what is still there - that's what underneath the water. I think you know what I am saying here is true, although it is quite unbelievable, maybe even a cliche: still, I feel you can trust your guts, your instinct and know it is true.
It is the only way to that freedom I spoke before. I am learning about it so why you, my friends, should not? That's why I decided to share the true nature of this little deduction I made, the true nature of, well, nature itself.
I need to go now, but try to fly as high as you can, don't worry about breaking any bones or losing your mind, here, no one really dies.
That's hits different when you finish the final season
WhiteRose got nerfed hard in season 4
how did elliot not remember what his dad looked liked here? he's clearly remembers him, but doesn't realise Mr Robot looks like his dad?
John Dank disassociation and MPD, he subconsciously blocked out his father and would leave pieces of his memory in storage with different personalities, like sorting data in different files.
@@johndank2209 I had the same question too, but then I realized that Mr. Robot explains this later on in the season. He tells Elliot that he had forgotten Mr. Robot was his father, much like how Darlene was his sister, so they were repressed memories.
So what exactly was the purpose behind Mr Robot having to practically almost kill Elliot in this scene?
Maybe Mr robot asked Eliot to tell him about his father just to make sure that he doesn't remember about the "thing" and then pushed him bc he thought that if Eliot had thought about this memory a little longer he would have remembered the truth
@@xZ33N damn that kind of makes sense
Somewhere on Reddit I read he wanted to bring the real Elliot back, doesn't make sense now but I guess we'll have to rewatch
To 'erase' his memory. Elliot's real dad caused a huge debt in Elliot's character. By pushing him, he wants to erase Elliot's delusion about his dad.
@@xZ33N how did elliot not remember what his dad looked liked here? he's clearly remembers him, but doesn't realise Mr Robot looks like his dad?
well..this made sense when we thought that mr robot is elliot's father and he was angry because elliot told his mum about his illness
but after S4 we know that mr robot isn't elliot's father..and he knows what the real father did to elliot so it doesn't make sense to push elliot for no reason
seeing these scenes after finishing the show its crazy.
This is the scene that got me hooked.
Opening song is Quiet Dog - Mos Def
I'll admit I was startled when Elliot fell off the pier...
First time I watched this scene I strongly believed that the story he tells is what's actually happened. When it moved to another scene when Elliot watch the recording of CCTV when he saw no one there except him talking and jump by himself, I still confused and hardly figured it out what's actually happening in that moment.
Plot twist in this show is runs perfectly
I'm confused by this scene after S04E07, why exactly did Mr. Robot push him here then? Claiming his Father was right about what exactly? Now that we know some of the truth I can't work out the reasons behind him pushing him here in this scene. Mr. Robot is yet to make any mistakes or flaws with it's story, so there must be a reason behind this one.
The best reasoning I have heard was that the whole reason he asked Elliot about his father was to check to see if he remembered the "thing" about him. After he realised he didn't, that was good. He then changes the subject and pushes him so that he doesn't keep thinking about the day with the window in case he starts remembering the truth about it. I can't say that for sure is why he did it, but it at least makes a shred of sense.
Dustywood as the seasons go on, the writers might change things and make old scenes lack sense.
(End series spoilers ahead!) I think that when Mr Robot is saying that Elliot didn't commit to the sacred pact, he was referring to the pact he and the Mastermind made to help the real Elliot. I believe he was trying to remind the Mastermind what it was all about by revisiting the moment it all started. Mr Robot later in the series says that Elliot was angry at himself when he jumped and we know after S04E13 that the Mastermind holds Elliot's rage, so it makes sense to remind him that anger in order to get him back on track. Pushing someone like that is perhaps not the most subtle way, but... Mr Robot is not known for his gentle handling of things.
@@antoniovasquez9946 not in mr robot, never...
In this moment Mastermind was disappointed, because he believed that his father had pushed him...mr robot wanted to erase this delusion
Makes sense now!!
I love Rami. He is amazing
only now i notice mr robot facial expression when earing the story, cause he knows the truth...
I just here to say, last night I had my first appletini.
Every piece of the puzzle spliced into many episodes. Genius!
Although, there is one thing I still don't completely understand. Why is Mr. Robot so ok with trying to control "Mastermind" Elliot into the f-society hacking plan? Like, why was Mr. Robot's plan to let innocent people die in an explosion and admits to the hack being "his" plan when it was the "mastermind's" idea to create f-society and hack the debt? Was Mr. Robot trying to get "mastermind" Elliot back on track after he rebooted Elliot's mind and forget about Mr. Robot, Darlene and his purpose?

Why exactly does he try to kill him?
He wasn’t trying to kill Elliot here. Mr Robot was trying to distract Elliot from the memory of his father, lead him down a false trail to keep him from remembering their actual traumatic past.
Third personality being the abusive version of his father. A plausible reason for Mr. Robot (or rather his father) throwing elliot away.
Except for the ending and the final twist, this show was incredible.
This doesn't make sense anymore.
why not? It's just Elliot's father created by him and he talks to another personality. For me it's even more fucked up but really genius.
@@marcosekigan1072 I commented this before the finale lol, it makes sense now
WOW. Even during the scene Mr Robot isn't buy Elliotts bullshit story. I wonder if Elliot had somehting to do with his death?!
Mr Robot was there so why did he
There's a theory that says that Elliot poisoned the popcorn that ellito"s dad eats and then collapsed to death.
in my opinion, mr. robot checking if elliot's illusion is woking because he was protecting elliot from knowing the truth.
