    Really nice review (as usual) 👍 The next one comparing this lens to the TT artisan 50mm 1.2 is a very good idea 👌

    Excellent review! On APS-C, 50mm is my favorite focal length. Loved the fungi and architectural tree photos. Beautiful! Looking forward to your comparison video as I have and love the TTArtisan 50mm on my X-E3.

      Thanks for your feedback! Yes it's an awesome focal length ... as it matches 75mm on full frame, it's just a bit wider than a typical 85mm. Often I feel this small difference actually is an advantage!

    A great review!
    Thank you very much indeed for doing these reviews - it’s tremendously helpful to see the quality of these cheaper lenses for the Fuji x-mounts (and also very helpful for anyone looking at these lenses for the other mounts offered)!
    I’d be ever so grateful if you’d do a comparison between the 7artisans and the TTartisans 50mm options, as well as a comparison between the 35mm options as well (f0.95, f1.4). Thank you very much indeed for your fantastic work, it’s very much appreciated! Please keep doing what you do! Warmest regards from the UK

      Hello and many, many thanks for your feedback! I just completed my comparison between the TT Artisan 50/1.2 and 7Artisans 50/0.95 and the video will be online this Saturday.
      Meanwhile, did you check out this video? There you can see the difference between the TT Artisan 35/1.4 and the 7Artisans 35/0.95 in terms of bokeh quality / portrait shooting:

    definitely looking forward to the comparison between this and the ttartisan. as much as i love 7artisans, it would need to be twice as good at f1.4 for me to even consider replacing my ttartisan 50/1.2. of course, the 7artisans 35/0.95 you could not pry from my cold dead hands =-)
    i had hoped the 50/0.95 would be more usable wide open, but there just might be too much glow and aberration at that aperture. we shoot a lot of portraiture and if this lens needs to be stopped down to 1.4 to be usable, then we might as well stay with the ttartisan.
    also, when you do your comparison i wouldn't mind seeing samples from both lenses focused at infinity; that seems to be something my ttartisan 50/1.2 can struggle with when wide open on the x-e3.

      Yes it's funny to see how these two brands compare. They both cater for the same group of manual focus lovers, yet still their offerings are very different in a way!

    Hi Tom, thanks it looks great! i would ask if you have shoot the whole youtube video whit the 7Artisans 50/0.95 APS-C , i have a fuji xt4 ánd enjoying shoot video too. Best, Stefano

      Hi Stefano! Most of my videos are not shot with my own gear, because the guys who shoot the video, use their own gear. In this case, the video was just shot with an iPhone! 😀
      Some of my videos are shot with a Sony A7R4 and Sigma 35/1.4, like this one:
      ruclips.net/video/bXr_4iVLiaU/видео.html
      But yes sometimes I also use the Fuji X-E3 or X-E4 and my own lenses. So here is actually a video that I shot on the Fuji X-E3 and 7Artisans 35/0.95 (not the 50mm, but the 35mm):

    Will probably go for the 25mm version 😄 This 50 is very nice but it's kind of hard to justify the purchase when you already have many vintage fast 50's (all of them are quite a bit slower, but still). Great review! 👍

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  2 года назад

      Personally, I find the 25/0.95 a bit big (especially looong). But it's a very interesting offer nonetheless, yes! So far, there's a general shortage of nice manual focus fast lenses in that focal length range.
      Maybe 7Artisans or TT Artisan will issue an 25/1.2 or 25/1.4 one day ... that could be a bit more compact then!

    Good morning Tom, a good, informative review, as always. I do not own a digital camera, but these Chinese lenses seem to be excellent value for money, given their optical specification. It is good that the markings on the lens are now engraved, I believe some were printed.
    Will you be posting the Exakta VX1000 review that you mentioned a little while back?.

    • @tomscameras

      Hi Peter! I know there’s a bit of a backlog with camera reviews … Nikon Leica Yashica … and of course the Exakta and even another Exa are waiting here :)

    Thanks for the really nice review. Is focusing manually is more difficult with this 50mm than my 7artisans 35 f0.95 that I own and enjoy in maximum aperture?
    Does those nice samples edited or dehazed?

    • @tomscameras
      @tomscameras  2 года назад +1

      Hi Tarek! Manual focusing is as easy (or hard) as with the 35/0.95! If you can use that lens well, the 50 will be good for you as well. Yes I edit all shots a bit in Lightroom … but the 50/0.95 is as contrasty as the other lenses. I did not correct CA‘s or Vignetten in any shot that is shown in my video.

    Hi Tom, Excellent review thanks for this! I'm planning to buy an affordable manual lens for my fuji camera and confused between 7artisans 50/0.95 and 55/1.4, is it worth spending that extra money on 0.95? If I have to stop down to 1.4 to get the sharp images don't really think it's a good option what do you think? Also, does lens hood help in increasing the overall IQ on 0.95? I'm an amateur just getting started so really like to know!! thanks again

      Hi Kiran! Did you see my video where I compare this 7Artisans 50/0.95 to the TT Artisan 50/1.2?
      Maybe that is an interesting lens option for you as well!
