This is by far the best video I've seen on diagnosing the 3 0 Ranger , testing the injectors and etc . I bought a 2000 Ranger XLT 4X4 3.0 for $760.00 . For the money I paid for it , I'm not complaining. It runs and drives ( drinks the gas ) but has issues. I put a scanner on it and 12 codes came up and some of the codes , confirmed issues that I thought previously was wrong .Your video will help tremendously in diagnosing my truck. Thank you .

good job there, your lucky its not on the other side, the intake has to come off. Mine will run fine for a while and then stumble for a while then clear up
very good break down. i would definitely replace injectors 2 and 3. 3 seems to be also bad from the impedance readings.

Mine was the #6 misfire I looked online and they said coilpack was bad so I replaced it only to get the same code so I got plugs and wires my #6 wier was almost in half I just replaced them plugs and wires and it fixed my misfire
Hello, I have that truck. When I buy ignition wires they olm out at 1.3 olms. I use a auto ranging meter. U said 4500 olms. Thanks for the lesson . I needed to see it. Good video from Sacramento.

Very cool and descriptive video! One of the best ones ive seen and literally covers everything. In case someone else is having the same issue, mine happens to be cylinder #5 and Ive already swapped the coil wires to see if the wires or the coil pack was the culprit but I was wondering if its possible to do the ohm test on the driver side of the block with the intake manifold in the way? Thanks in advance for you help, crossing my fingers its just a spark plug :)

It's just a cheap Pittsburg fuel pressure tester from harbor freight.

Checking the wire at the coil is just a test light hooked to battery negative. I keep getting a p0306 code new plugs new wires and coil Help please!
Really need to look at the coil and make sure that it's behaving as it should ... then look at the injector to ensure it's firing correctly and you have the proper amount of fuel... after that possibly a mechanical issue with that cylinder...

My 99 ranger 3.0 has a dead misfire cylinder 5 has no compression an the trucks only got 150k miles my guess it has a bad valve
you could, if available to you, make sure it's on the compression stroke (valves closed) hook up a leak down tester and listen to the intake, exhaust pipe and pull the dipstick tube and listen. Sometimes that'll point to where the issue is. You could also do the same with a smoke machine and look for smoke in the exhaust/intake.

Yep, there are multiple ways to find a "dead" injector. Listening with a stethescope wouldn't have caught the other injector which was working but was out of spec in it's resistance, but there are multiple ways to go down the diagnosis path when checking injectors.
If the words weren't in the way could actually see just what your doin
