+Lucy Burger I agree with all of you guys, I watched this video before going out to skate with my friends, maybe just to get more inspired to do it... Thanks for the upload ;-)
I can relate. I too would watch this before skating and it pumped me up. Music and everything. Im so sad and don't know why right now. Lol. Love built to spill too.
That comments here are brilliant, we're mostly here because we watched this VHS at the same time, and somehow we've found our way back to it on RUclips. I too would watch this almost every day, show my friends, head out and work on my skating... Now I watching it and all the nostalgia comes back strong.
None None I did have it but all my skateboarding vids got stolen except two. A progression VM vid and Rodney vs daewon round two. I am super happy that one didn’t get stolen but I miss all my videos!
That intro is etched into my brain. Prime AVE and Arto footage ripping over Built to Spill. Amazing. There's never been anything before and won't be anything after. Soak it up boys!
@@VENGEFULHEXX FACTS. Those Early 2000s transworld vids were so good. And having to go to the shop and get skate videos making it worth the wait. Good times.
This is more than a skate video. It's a piece of art, from the music choices, to editing style, and most importantly skating. The personalities really shine through thanks to the great production of the film. Things like these are scarce in part due to the internet and the immediate access to footage. Skating progressed but not without some negative side effects.
this is what got me into filmmaking... jump cuts, reversals, speed ramps and film burns... j.holland & greg hunt the team of teams. i still have this original VHS... heres to another 15 years
Transworld video production from back then was so amazing! IE, The Reason, Modus Operandi, Anthology, Feedback... Prime skate video time. Miss it so much
I remember watching this in middle school over 15 years ago. The music alone pumped me up to go ride my skateboard. Now 31 years old, I am proud to sit down and watch this with my 4 year old son.
Dang the vibes I get from old transworld vids, I remember writing down all the songs names from the credits and then download them on lime limewire from my friends computer then burn a cd!
Best time of my life. Freedom no worries. When skateboarding was not so mainstream and no smartphones. Just the homies skating "spots" and having a good time. Everything changed when it went mainstream and skateparks in every city. Dont get me wrong when I watch today's videos it still makes me happy to see the progression. Who knew those times were the best time of my life, I guess you take it forgranted and appreciate it when time goes by...
I was a Freshman going on Sophomore when this came out. I saw a comment mentioning being sad with nostalgia and its a very mixed thing between enjoying reminiscing the old times but while also realizing we are getting old.
I still to this day I don't see how Rob Dyrdek managed to get away with making a full video part in a skatepark. That was a major no-no back then. Hell it still is to this day. But somehow he managed to hold onto his career without constant mockery and shaming him for it. Most pros careers would be ruined after doing that, especially in the golden era.
Still one of my favorite skate videos to date. It inspired me so much to film and edit the way that I do. The skating is nuts too, especially for the time. Truly a masterpiece, in my opinion. I’ve watched this several times over the years.
God almighty this brings back memories from when i was 11 years old back in 2001 i got it at a surf and skate shop, thank you for sharing this. I wish i can skate like i used to but now im disabled and i can only cruse around downtown and stuff haha its all good.
What a time to catch these hombres in video parts - before Dyrdek blew up with reality TV and Street League; before Pappalardo became broke and bitter; before Appleyard hooked up with Flip and became Thrasher's SOTY, before the Butcher slaughtered for Toy Machine; etc.
How did Pappalardo become that way? I had heard somewhere that he didn’t really like skating with a lot of people and didn’t really care to be filmed all that much. Kind of like what happened to PJ Ladd. He didn’t want people filming him, he thought the tricks he was trying weren’t film worthy. When it all actuality the shit he was putting down was insane.
Recently lost the original VHS and all my other childhood skate vids (not to mention three completes from the early 2000s I left behind!) after my mom's place flooded. So bummed but at least I can go on YT and get emotional at that warm F'in intro
I was 12 when this came out and hearing "Stab" in the opening montage made me want to pick up guitar instantly. And also a calzone, Arizona green tea, and my Toy Machine Devil Cat board, of course.
Simpler times. They made this video way too short. Looking back you can tell they didn't have much footage for this video. Some filler tricks and like 3 angles and 2 slomos of the same clip lol. I love this video and the editing was so well done you couldn't even tell that they were short on actual clips. I think they should've either added another part or something but this is still a great video. They don't edit them like this anymore. 🙏🏿
#RIPCHADDTRIPP even tho i got you into skating, you showed me my first skate video. It was this. I was 7 you were 12. and when u came back up from SC you were kickflip'n and all that shit. i didnt take it seriously untill you came back up from SC with a new bag of tricks. THen i learned myself that summer and from their it was us against the world (mechadd and my other cousin) Now to this day i always feel like you are going to walk into the room air guitaring to Stab by Built To Spill. I miss you cuzzo. Kepp Shred'n up their. until we can skate again famo. EDIT type Chadd Tripp Into youtube (or Chadd Tripp skateboarding) Thats him if yall wanna or even care to know
Makes me so sad watching this for some reason.. Nostalgia i guess.
+greengoon i feel it as well. probably just miss those good old days when the only thing we had to do was skate
+Lucy Burger I agree with all of you guys, I watched this video before going out to skate with my friends, maybe just to get more inspired to do it... Thanks for the upload ;-)
felt the same way bro
I'm glad this is a common experience. Back when skateboarding was still small.
I can relate. I too would watch this before skating and it pumped me up. Music and everything. Im so sad and don't know why right now. Lol. Love built to spill too.
I'm on a roll right now. Just watched the DC video. Photosynthesis.Fulfill the dream. And now this. Pure Nostalgia. God I miss the 2000s.

yeah I wish I still had the VHS :(
David Byrne think I still do somewhere

@@DWP.GAMING the DVD is on eBay
That intro.... so nostalgic. As well as that built to spill line "I WROTE A SOOOOONG.."
Mad Grimey classic feels
I get the chills man

Brooooo, literally how I made all my CDs back in the day. Such a crazy and eclectic collection of music LoL
An era defining vid. Reminded you of why you went skating everyday. Good times
oh man, whoever you are out there...I love you
endless weekend hahahaha what the fuck?
Love you too! ❤️
We love you too
Man, I haven’t seen this for 20 years - amazing!

Definitely. I miss getting the Bros together and watching videos before we’d skate.
used to watch this in 2000 on a dvd on my ps2 to get pumped to go skate after school
This was the video that sparked my love for skating. Thanks a million for the upload.
The soundtrack more than the video brings back tons of memories
💯
LOVE THIS. MAN IM GETTING OLD
We are getting old!!! But i don't care! This video makes me feel young everytime i watch it haha
I'm 30 and got this when it came out, made my ass cry for real
real talk. Modus is my fav but Jon and Greg really made some special films.
I forgot how amazing this video is. Everything about it. Skaters, songs, filming, editing. I wish skate videos were more like this one.
16 years later i finally get to see this! I really wish i could have seen it when it was new.
I was a Freshman going on Sophomore when this came out. I saw a comment mentioning being sad with nostalgia and its a very mixed thing between enjoying reminiscing the old times but while also realizing we are getting old.
best skate vid ever I remember I was 13 when this came out on vhs. makes me want to hop back on a board.
Damn! Daewon's always been the best.
One of the deep ones fellas 🤙
My first video I ever owned. Timeless classic. The intro is gorgeous.
Yup I remember having this on vhs showing all my friends years ago
long sleeve shirts with graphics on the arms miss that shit lol
such a great vid. they don't make em like this anymore. really beautiful time in skateboarding xoxo
This was my first full length skate video. I get the chills watching the intro. Brings back great memories and feelings.
This video defines my adolescence.
this was one of my favorite skate videos growing up! i used to watch it with my dad all the time. so nostalgic for me.

my childhood

Yeah I still have this on dvd. My favorite parts were the 16mm montages.
Soundtrack is amazing.
I remember replaying this video everyday wen I was 15
Same here man, watched it over and over before going out to skate. The good old skating times will never be forgotten.... :-)
Me too buddy! We would be the same age now! 🤙🏼

Before Brian Anderson came out as gay. Crazy stuff.

What happened to Pappalardo?
Whats crazy is how many roof to roof tricks Daewon had in his part without bailing and falling off the roof its nuts.

The 16mm in this is beautiful.
this is art.
one of skateboardings most important films💪💪💪

Damn! This brings me back!
Love this video. Thanks for the upload.
I remember when this came out, I was 10 and just started getting into skating. Good times
It’s 2021 and most of this holds up pretty damn well!
Habitat Appleyard!! Before he split and went to Flip. I remember this left a pretty bad taste in the mouths of a few of the main Alien Workshop guy’s.
This and anthology were my first skate tapes!!! Damn miss those days
One of the first skate videos I bought on Dvd XD. "Your treating me like an animal, not like a human being" - A. Pappalardo
deigo! Love the first montage with Built to spill!
I.E, an Modus Operandi got the best intros
Love these videos.

First time seeing this video, so good!
Saudades desse tempo em que skate era puro era verdadeiro, hj em dia com a história do olímpico, dos likes.. perdeu muito do que um dia foi legítimo.
The fucking bail section montage. They don't do these anymore in videos.
Metal workers..love Diego's explanation aha
I’m crying

Why was this video so choppy?? It’s like it was constantly lagging.
I just feel like a kid.
I remember trading manual labor to my friend for this video. Never gave it back lol.
Is that the original music in the beginning? Doesn’t seem like it is. But then again, I haven’t seen this video in 15 years lol
Whats apples song ?
The Sea and Cake -“The Argument”
What’s the intro song?
FUCK YA buddy. good on yuh. one of my childhood / all time favs
Song part.. of rob dyrdek
What's up with the editing? Gave me a damn headache
Some super sick skating. But some pretentious filming. Gave me a headache.
thank you but god damn what a horrible rip.
