- What do the town of Flora and the Grande Ronde River canyon have in common? Time is eroding away the walls of both.
Towering above the prairie, 3,000 feet above the Grande Ronde River, the rustic Flora church bell tower stands defiant against the frequent winds and time. Scattered around the church, are other remains of the town-site. Houses, a blacksmith shop, the school, and a large assortment of early 1900’s farming implements contribute to the look of an old Western movie set. Surprisingly, absent from the list of businesses that supported this town of 200 was a single bar. However, there are rumors that there was a brothel.

I was intrigued by the drone shooting its shadow on the crusty pipe.
I've always wanted to go check out Flora, thanks! Great video
Thank-you, Phil. I hope to see you there someday.
Fun flick!
I like:
* camera in constant motion, adding energy and momentum
* quick cuts
* pull-backs
* aerial.
With the sheep, I slowly realized I was seeing a B&W olde timey film with scratches from decades of handling!

As of October of this year, the church has been torn down. It's very sad to see what disregard the general populace of America has towards our history. So thank you for immortalizing it through film.
I agree. It is sad to see it go. This was a very special place as you know. I produced this short retrospective: ruclips.net/video/o26bxeOofrw/видео.html Thank-you for your comment.
New subscriber here I have never heard of Flora, Oregon I enjoyed this video. ❤
Thank-you, April. Flora is a special place, straight off a Clint Eastwood movie. When I first discovered it, I expected Clint to be standing on the Church porch. I hope you get to visit it soon. You might also enjoy this Flora story: ruclips.net/video/wL3IHVsAO6Q/видео.html
Take care.

Flora is a great ghost town and all but you drove right back to Lewiston. Why not just keep going south into Enterprise? My father used to take our family to Flora to fly his remote control airplanes. I grew up in Lostine Oregon which is in Wallowa County. Gorgeous area! I highly recommend it!
Thank-you for your comment, Jennifer. The short answer is it came down to time. Travel time to film and time limit on the video. I agree with your suggestions and hope to take you up on your recommendation. Yes, the Joseph - Lostine valley is beyond beautiful and rich in history. Stay tuned... : )
Wonder how the community got its name?
Flora Buzzard was born June 3rd, 1884. According to her autobiographical letter, "she was the first white girl child in" Flora town.
@@bluzriver Thanks! Interesting ...
Flora lived to be over 100 years old. She celebrated her 100th b-day in Flora.
Well done
Thank-you, Jonny 😎
