A lot of people are split on if this is is towards his anxiety or if it's his anxiety talking. I think, like many of Bo's songs, it can be interpreted either way very easily but it can also be viewed as his mentality speaking. His anxiety is trying to take over, it's simmering which his voice kind of mimics for the "all eyes on me" lyrics. Then you have the pray for me which kind of sneaks up on the other lyrics. The tempo on this lyric is faster, it's anxiety begging and ime my anxiety, when it begs for something (when I can feel my anxiety speaking/causing me to think specific things), it's faster, it's smaller, it makes me feel smaller to externalize the request. He then had a roiling series of intrusive thoughts, something everyone has but very much can heighten anxiety or even not be able to expel the intrusive thoughts. The oceans rising, the world is ending, etc. It causes his anxiety to explode, and he has that anger outburst, which settles the anxiety a bit. Then it ends abruptly, as anxiety can do. All of this is par for the course for anxiety, and is super relatable. It's also just my interpretation. I've asked my pastor to pray for my mental state, it was very hard to do the first dozen or so times I asked (I've asked A LOT). I ask my therapist and thats probably the only time there's no shame attached. Which I know is ridiculous. Doesn't change my anxiety though. I have anger outbursts from roiling anxiety (usually due to someone or something hitting my nerves, and almost everytime my first reaction, if its not a much bigger episode, is to apologize but that's beside the point as Bo's anger is pointed at the situation). It's super common and it *does* calm the anxiety a bit. When I'm really overwhelmed, I scream. And you know what? It literally helps. It lets go of built up energy, which is one way I visualize anxiety. It's potential energy building up, vibrating, waiting to be used but you don't know where to aim it. Or if you can. That's why something like an outburst, a scream, etc, can settle the rest of the potential energy. It releases 3nough to let the tension off. And if you parallel it to the scene before, the crying at the end can explain the sudden ending. Crying happens for a lot of reasons. One is to release a build of of excess chemicals. If you collect someone's tears and view them under a microscope, you can tell what emotion they were feeling. And so tear ducts are literally a drain for a build of neurochemicals that cause emotional imbalances. (Seriously google image search types of tears, it's fascinating). This is a deep song where Bo manages to 1) create another masterpiece and 2) take you on a rollercoaster with minimal different phrases. There's a surprising lack of verbosity in this song. Most of it is several repeated phrases. That's atypical for Bo. And yet it still creates such a huge reaction. Visceral.
The laugh track playing as Bo burnham talks about something real is something he had to deal with when actually performing in the past. If you ever react to Art is Dead look specifically for the green room video and you'll see the same. Bo just mimicked it here for this song.
Since you just finished the Kanye Rant, you should look back at this song. There's several parallels between the real audience laughter and his use of the laugh track. It makes this song even sadder but gives you a deeper appreciation. You'll be a crying mess comparing them.
The part at the end where he turns the camera to the "audience" he's been speaking to and shows that there's no one there but him, gesticulating wildly and performing his heart out for absolutely no one, gets me every single time

If you've seen Bo Burnham, he plays with his audience. Like, in "can't handle this right now" he asks people to stick up their hands if they agree with him on the pringles can thing, and then makes the joke "look at all those hands that don't fit inside a pringles can". In this song, he's constantly telling his audience to stick their hands up, but since he's alone in his house there is no audience, so there is no response; no one sticking up any hands. And that's his greatest fear when performing: the audience interaction failing; the joke falling flat, him looking like an idiot on-stage
The key is "it's almost over, it's just begun". He fought for almost 5 years to battle through anxiety and depression and be in a place mentally where he thought he could re-enter the world, only for the pandemic to force him inside again. For that to happen is just crushing on so many levels. Almost like, "What's the point of even trying again? The world does not want me to get better."
also, from his song all time low he was definitely in, what he thought, was getting close to his worst mental health period ever. By the time this song came around, he had officially hit his lowest point ever in his life, although not explicitly stated. 5 years of progress, only to regress to an even worse state than he was before. And as someone who’s panic attacks were gone for almost a decade, but came back last December, this song hurts so good.

Remember, though, he only stopped performing live… he’s been working offstage, that he wasn’t trapped in that small room/apartment in the special, et cetera. I think a lot of folks don’t realize this is a *film* and not his *real existence*. It’s sad, of true, that he’d really reached where he was ready to perform live on stage again… that had to be a blow. But in the meantime he’s otherwise been working, has a lot of money, has a nice house where he was living with his partner and pets during quarantine and was using his guesthouse to go into to film the special.

It's honestly my favorite part of the song. I love the whole thing, but after I finished the special, I looked up the song just so I could listen to that part over again a dozen more times. This song hit me hard. I was a professional musician and played often. But I had a lot of anxiety and was diagnosed with PTSD. I moved city, knew noone about 5 years ago and stopped playing because I felt isolated and my anxiety got so much worse. I had years of therapy, tried medications, worked hard on my mental health. I practiced and created a set and material. Bought a new pickup. I worked up the courage and finally booked my first gig in 5 years in March 2020. It was set for the week after lockdown started in the UK. I couldn't believe it when I heard this song, I fucking sobbed.
That was a very meaningful experience to share! I hope it was a cathartic cry from feeling seen & understood...like someone "gets it". My experience was slightly different only in that I was not an artist/performer. I was in the military and had a rough go of it due to injuries piling up and no one taking me seriously for years and having to fight to be seen by a specialist; turns out I needed surgery. Got through the surgery in 2017. I was never given the proper time to recover and I was unable to meet the physical requirements to stay in the army, so for nearly 2 years I was stuck in limbo, being told that I was getting kicked out of the army and would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay back for my education. After nearly 2 years of that perpetual state of anxiety and depression building up from feeling like a failure and having so many unknowns with my finances and being stuck in a place I didn’t want to be, in a job I didn’t want to have anymore, I started getting panic attacks and started going to behavioral health and was put on antidepressants. In December of 2019, I found out that almost immediately after I was told I was being kicked out there was a decision to have me go through the medical board to see if I should be medically retired instead of discharged, which would mean I would not owe any money and would get better VA benefits that I desperately needed. This means that they decided that I should go through the medical board and didn’t contact me or my leadership for nearly 2 years, despite my company commander and I reaching out for information multiple times. I was so angry at first but decided that I would just be happy that I was going to have a chance to not be in debt for the rest of my life at least. In January of 2020 I decided that I would be positive and look at the bright side of things and stop isolating myself like I had been. When lockdown started in those initial months and no one knew what was going on, everything stopped for me. At work we were severely understaffed, we couldn’t work from home like other departments who decided the risk was too high to see the soldiers in person, so their jobs became our job on top of our own jobs. We were working 12-18 hours a day with no breaks most days. My appointments for my medboard were all canceled with no word of when I could reschedule. I got irritable, my panic attacks got worse, my depression got so bad that I was suicidal. I was put on even stronger antidepressants that had bad side affects and had to go to outpatient care. We were all staying at work hours past end of the duty day, I had multiple breakdowns at work and was burnt out. I was barely eating, barely sleeping, I lost interest in everything. I was isolated from everyone. This lasted for well over year and a half and I finally got medically retired from the army end of 2021 with 100% disability rating. I am still in therapy working on everything now. Even despite all this, I know I was one of the lucky ones and I’m glad people like you and Bo are sharing your stories because it makes me feel less alone.

Not sure if anyone has told you yet but the blue can also give an atmospheric melancholy feel. And considering the tone of this song, I think that is what the blue really works here. Melancholy tends to happen in people during depression. The whole feeling of being underwater and drowning is kind of how the blue is giving a melancholic feel.
Exactly. I think especially the "underwater and drowning" part is what he was going for here. With Facetime with my Mom the blue there was definitely being used as more of like the music videos that go with that style of song and emulating the phone screens like he Chris said, but the blue here was definitely to kind of give that melancholy feeling. For me when I watched the special, it kind of also gave me like a feeling of dread, like I knew something terrible was coming and was unfortunately proven right.

I get it, We are so used to seeing the slightly out-of-sync performance on a Jumbotron that we assume it’s a live feed, but look closer: the angle is different and the shadows don’t match.That projection on the wall was pre-recorded. The triple overlay (including the close ups) is actually three separate performances, choreographed to near perfection.
I recently rewatched the special and when I got to All Eyes on Me, it hit so hard. I listened to this song multiple times, then got to reactions. I went down the rabbit hole of trying to find somebody that felt the DEEP meaning of this song. In the song before this one he has a line “gift shop at the gun range, mass shooting at the mall” this combined with the clips of his frustration made me very nervous as soon as the song started because it felt threatening. Like the audience were hostages. Hands up heads down is vulnerable pose. I haven’t seen anyone discuss it and I’m not sure exactly why the audience is being forced to watch him fall apart. One of my favorite songs.
I think it's showing the torturous dichotomy of being helped and harmed by an audience. So like, "things don't suck so bad when yall pay attention to me, but now all the pressure is giving me panic attacks". I completely agree with why you feel that way though. That Funny Feeling would make whatever comes next feel weird. Also, I think it reflects on him wanting to take the power back which is made clear by the line "maybe I'll sit on the couch and watch you next time".
Blue can simultaneously mean tranquility and serenity, but also melancholy and sober angusty. Which is perfect for the song: "are you feeling nervous? don't overthink it, look in my eyes, don't be scared, don't be shy, come on in, the water's fine" It seems so calm, so easy, but it's profoundly melancholic. This is the best reaction for this song, ty!
That moment he reaches through our collective eyes and pulls our souls out though our mouths, right? You can feel that "got it good, now get inside" like a roller coaster hill then riding a wave of harmony. It's both depressing and comforting, chaotic and cathartic. I almost feel at the end like he was frustrated with not getting the same satisfaction out of the special that he would out of live performance. I'm thinking he was almost yelling at the camera as a poor medium - the barrier between him and us, his audience. The very tool that's allowing him the ability to convey his art is also his biggest barrier. Picking it up and physically moving with it is his best attempt to break a "fourth wall" that doesn't exist in his guest house. The whole special highlights his frustration with barriers to quality human contact, communication or being properly understood in some form or another. Whether it's instagram making people look shallow, thumbs over cameras, abstract emoji use, power wielding control over speech, etc. Just my hot take which is worth absolutely nothing. For those who unfortunately know, they truly suck, but I have to say that those Emgality injections gave me some assemblance of a life back. Part of why this song and special resonate so deeply is because I've had to take well over a decade off of performing and even working a "real" job because of pain. I got much better with those Emgality injections by the beginning of 2020 and was in a position to possibly start auditioning again. Then, well, Covid. During the pandemic, my headaches have returned a bit and my anxiety disorder has increased. So this whole special hit so hard. But then again, I also felt some comfort in it. I know that Bo is ok. He's out and about. A lot of this was expressing his feelings cumulatively, but he had more control over himself as a performer than it seems. This was therapeutic. He's been with family and even traveled a bit - back home to MA at the very least. He's performed in LA at the Largo more than once. So I'm taking inspiration from it. He smiles at the end. I'm using that as hope for him and all of us. Thanks to Chris, we found a cool place to be. Let's hope Chris feels the same way and the full apprection we have for that. Seriously appreciate you including the scenes that came before the song, and how honest and real your reaction was-- it's a brutal song to get through if you resonate with the message and the delivery, and I can respect the hell out of anyone willing to get choked up on camera without knowing how the internet is going to react to it. It's been great following along with the special with you, and even though I don't generally follow reaction channels I've really appreciated your insights on everything you've done so far. It's incredible and almost unsettling to me that even after probably the hundredth time hearing the song, some lines and musical moments of the song still give me goosebumps and send shivers up my spine. This song struck a chord somewhere incredibly deep inside a shocking (and frankly frightening) number of us, and I don't know how/whether history will record this song, but I can already say without a shadow of a doubt that this song and this special more generally have shaken me down to the core and made me aware of just how many others have been feeling the same things I have these last few years.

This song isn't about his anxiety about performing. This is his anxiety about NOT performing. As he said in "Art Is Dead", attention is his drug. He's an addict. Performing is something he loves and thrives on. But for a while, it was simultaneously also something that was killing him. But he worked hard to get better, and just when he started to think "Wow, I've gotten myself into a positive headspace where I can finally go back to doing what I love more than anything else in the world", life decided to say "Nope, you can't perform, you have to stay inside and alone" This song is him crying out for the attention that he feared before but now desperately wants back.
Here’s my current personal theory on this song: The harmony on “inside” is referencing the multiple meanings of the word inside in both this special and this song: 1. The actual physical inside where this special is taking place. 2. The interior digital space that is the internet. It can be thought of as “where everybody knows everybody” (i.e. how we’re all connected online) or “where everybody knows” (i.e. everyone thinking they know everything and having to express their opinion on everything…much like this comment 😉 ) 3. Inside Bo’s mind. I can see the journey through the camera before the song as Bo literally taking us inside his mind. I think this song can be seen as Bo’s depression calling out to Bo sitting and crying on the other side of the camera in the previous scene. His depression is saying “come on in, the water’s fine”, and it wants Bo to fully give into it and put “All Eyes on Me”.
I think it’s also about the dichotomy of being alone inside when you deal with anxiety/depression. My wife struggles with them and it’s simultaneously a relief and a curse to just lie in bed away from everything.
There’s one more interpretation of “get inside.” He could also mean “understand Inside,” as in, understand the message he’s trying to get across in this special.

I relate to this song so much! I started having anxiety attacks when I was 11 and I've been dealing with anxiety and depression for about 7 years now. Right before covid started I thought to myself "wow I'm finally doing better I feel comfortable talking to people, I have friends, I'm not having anxiety attacks. I'm finally ok." And now I'm not ok. I'm crying myself to sleep every night, I haven't heard from my friends in months, and I just feel this crushing loneliness that I know is partly my fault for isolating myself too much.

Can’t explain how i felt when i first saw this song during the special. The way the visuals match the phenomenal sound of it, with the subject matter and the really simple repetitive lyrics, this song and video is really the whole package. Songs that can draw such a real emotional response like this are rare and should be appreciated for every second.
Strap in, boys, this ones gonna be a long one. This is the best reaction to this song that I've seen so far, and I doubt I'll see a better one. He looked in-depth into the song's true meaning, while everyone else seems to take it by face value. He discussed the double meanings of the lyrics, and truly discussed the mental health aspects most either overlook or are too scared to discuss. You, my friend, have truly gained a new subscriber. Now for the personal pieces. I listened to one Bo song from before he took his break. I can't even remember what song it was. About two weeks before Inside came out, I rediscovered Bo's songs. I listened to every single song, I watched every single special, and I was immediately hooked. It felt like fate when Inside was released, and I was so happy. I've been in a dark place recently but I feel like Bo has truly helped me get out of that stage of my life. Seeing his struggle finally overcome, and seeing the truly mindblowing reaction to his comeback has truly warmed my heart. I feel for him so unbelievably closely yet I have no true idea how it is inside of his mind. All I can say, truly, is that I'm empathetic for him. Thank you Bo, and thank you Chris. Time maxed out, battery goes from full to dead. I think everything is intentional. He's very clear about that. Especially considering that has to be added in post/deliberately added on the projector. I like the interpretation of the harmonies being many voices telling you to get in. Very layered.

I love your take on this. Your comment about his anger really hit me. I’m 26 and I’ve been dealing with depression and anxiety for about 12 years now. I can say from experience that anger is a part of it. Anger about not thinking your good enough, anger about not understanding what is happening to you, anger that it seems never ending, anger that you can’t seem to do the simple things. A lot of anger. I’m glad you found it as him being fed up and trying to find strength, but for me… watching this looks to me as I’m watching a person cracking. Same reason for why the camera drops and the laugh before it. To me that’s his sanity slipping away, the whole special with the laughing tracks, he’s struggling to put something together without a crowd in front of him. The isolation that creeps in takes it’s toll and causes him to talk to people that aren’t there. Which is why they laugh at him saying “which is not a great place to have them” and also why they don’t cheer when he says he got better. But I will say that releasing the special as a finished product is a way of taking a step forward. You have to have strength to release something for the world to see. Also he’s got a wife and parents who love him so I’m sure he’s doing well enough now.

You are the only reactor I've seen immediately get how unfortunate the timing of Bo's planned return to performing was when he said "January 2020". I haven't seen anyone immediately connect it to Covid. Fate really is cruel sometimes 😔
This special can only really be appreciated when you watch it all at once, it takes you for a ride. Covid must have felt like a personal attack to Bo, to come so far only for fate to knock you back down, I lost both my dogs to sickness near the end of 2020, combined with the rest of the events of that year it sure felt like the universe kicking me when I was down. This song speaks to the general apathy toward world events I think most of us are feeling, we've been waterboarded for almost two years with daily doomsday updates, every day a new terrible thing, and the previous problems are even worse. It comes to a point where you become numb to it, you almost want the world to end because it seems like the only logical conclusion to follow. I have a son now so I have to hope we turn everything around before it's too late, and I do believe it's possible. But the older I get, the more that happens (or doesn't happen) and the constant political cycle of broken promises and bandaid solutions, it's hard not to think the worst is yet to come.
I know your comment is two years old, but I want to say that your comment about coming so far only to be knocked down really hit me - like everyone, I went through Covid. Stayed inside, all the things, for a year and a half. Always an introvert, I thought it was ok in a way, but just as we were starting to get back to "normal", the universe said NO WAIT. I teach and had major anxiety about going back to the classroom with all the students and their germs. So that was already hard. Then...Sept. '21 I get a cancer diagnosis -- suddenly, worries about immune system stuff, dealing with a surgery that was supposed to be no big deal but at the last minute became a bigger deal (will never fully recover from that, but alive, so that's good). And I put myself back into full lockdown -- I'm still there, pretty much, going on four years since the start of Covid, so I guess that's just my life. Have one cafe where I'll go sit outside to eat, but that's it. Otherwise still at home, alone 99% of the time, or eat in my car. Terrified that I'll get Covid in spite of all efforts, and that it will interfere with any cancer stuff I have to deal with (already had a second surgery, so there's that.) I'll never get to go back to a normal life. The thought is terrifying. I still teach online (thank god for that skill learned during Covid). I'm older and lonely and every time I rewatch Inside, or parts of it, I'm gutted. Just when I was "going to go where everybody knows everybody" my own body said "got it good now get inside." I guess it's better than dying. No, it's definitely better than dying. Hope you and your son got your own lives back. Bo gave us a gift with this film. The other piece that always guts me is White Woman's Instagram, all that pretty stuff hiding all the pain of loss. It was great to see him grow up over the course of making this, too.

This is far and away the best reaction video I've seen to Bo's Inside! And I've been watching all of them haha - wanting to experience that initial impact again through other people's eyes. Props on listening to your audience's advice of taking in, experiencing, and feeling the previous scenes. You brought up multiple points that I hadn't considered! It really showed how invested you were and how thoughtful you can be. 1. The battery level on the camera showing as full in the main shot throughout, yet the filming time left showing as maxed out. This is a super interesting visual representation of "It's almost over, it's just begun." 2. Then, the battery level on the camera showing as dying (flashing, red, and nearly empty). This is only visible briefly, in one of the multiple overlayed shots. I hadn't noticed this the first few times I watched it (great eye!). It seems really significant that Bo shows this low battery only moments before losing his cool and telling us to GET THE FUCK UP. 3. I loved the way you interpreted & described the ending section of the song: in saying he was out of breath, making that cry/wail sound, experiencing significant anxiety and showing it, and then the song cutting abruptly after that. Bo's representation of emotions & feelings through lyrics, visuals, sound, and ambience is unmatched and mind-blowing. 4. The (BEAUTIFUL) multiple harmonized voices in the 2nd chorus, at the climax of the song, representing multiple voices speaking to him (both inside his own head as well as from outside sources - fans, media, critics). It's overwhelming in the moment, yet euphoric. Are you feeling nervous? Are you having fun? I felt nervous throughout most of this special. I had so much fun watching most of this special. I never wanted it to end. But I was also dreading how much more was left, because I was constantly feeling so many emotions flooding out of me, that it was truly exhausting. I have never been so deeply affected by a piece of art. Bo fucked me up real good. Thank you for sharing your unique perspective! I hope you enjoy watching it a thousand times over. I know I will.

You made me realize that laugh track moment after he says “the funniest thing happened” is doing SO MUCH; it’s amazing how he uses the two different meanings of funny (humorous and peculiar) to such good effect there. The other insight I wanted to add/highlight is how the chorus loops into multiple meanings. “We’re going where everyone knows” and “where everyone knows everyone” hit on different levels. And for those of us of a certain age, it also plays off the theme to Cheers, a bar where “we’re going to go where everyone knows your name” but now it’s twisted because we’re stuck at home.

I've been told by someone who has severe panic attacks that the end made them really uncomfortable because to them is looks like he might have actually fainted because that laugh is something they do right before passing out from a panic attack.

This is the best reaction to this song I've ever seen--the people who react to this song without the lead in are really missing out. I've always thought that he's talking to the people watching the show, not his anxiety talking to him. The way para-social relationships work on the Internet, people are always getting too interested in social media stars' personal lives. I wasn't paying much attention at the time but I've heard that happened to Bo in a bad way when he was going through his original breakdown 5 years ago, people really wanted to know why he stopped doing comedy and wouldn't leave him alone. Well, here it is, the full story. "Are you feeling nervous, are you having fun" looking so deeply into someone's mental collapse? That's how I interpreted it, anyway.
I interpret the picking up the camera at the end as that literal “all eyes on me” like him saying “this is me look at me having this crisis” at the same time like “I’m the performer and you expect content and for me to have viewpoints so you wanted it here I am”.
as someone who worked very hard to start performing on stage and wanted to ramp up the amount of times I would perform, covid fucked up all the confidence i worked so hard to build. I got shut back into my apartment that I worked so hard on leaving and performing. I don't think I will ever be on stage again because it was so hard to get to where I was and it all got fucked. I lost all of the momentum that I had built up. That is why I can relate to Bo
The thing I love about your reactions, Chris, is the fact that you've taken the time to watch everything in sequence. Even though you watch the non-musical bits and stuff off-camera, I do think it's very very important to watch all of the music in sequence. I've seen I don't know how many reactors now watch All Eyes On Me out of context. They don't have any idea of the segments that come immediately before it, and don't have any idea about the rest of the special anyway so they have no basis for any of the emotional weight of the song and his speech in the middle. Don't get me wrong, the song is absolutely beautiful by itself, but it has the greatest emotional impact if you listen to it as a part of a whole. As someone else pointed out, you are the only reaction channel I've seen to watch those segments that come immediately before the song and it makes such a huge difference in how you hear it and how you interpret it. Once you finish Inside, I would strongly and wholeheartedly recommend you check out Make Happy next. That was the special that Bo did right before he took his five-year break. Solid work, friend!

This special was so impactful to me, and I've watched a handful of reactions trying to see if it hit anyone else the same, and it feels like most people missed out on some of the meanings, or little details and didn't quite have the full experience, so its been awesome to watch you experience everything and actually understand the deeper meanings to the various songs. This special hit me hard. It so perfectly shows the internal struggle for so many over the past couple of years with COVID, and all the other issues going on politically, socially, etc. I know personally, I was furloughed late spring 2020, right when all the really bad social issues hit a high point, we were all trapped inside, but struggling with not being out doing our part, because ...covid...and we weren't supposed to...then the election fiasco(s), then personally, dealing with not working, depression over a whole host of things related to that, and just the bleak picture of the world. By the time this spring hit, everyone was just DONE. Ready to come out....then the funniest thing happened.... Here we are clamping back down. Some things are better, and that helps provide a hope for a light at the end, but we've all lived through so much trauma that it's hard to say what we will all be like on the other side. Specials and messages like this that can give people struggling right now something to grab onto and say, 'Ok, here's proof...it ISN'T me, the world really IS crazy right now...and it's okay to not be okay.', are extremely important. All t he anxiety, conflicting emotions, and underlying messages of this special have allowed people a release and acknowledgement of all the pent up things going on in our heads, and hopefully will serve as a stepping stone to getting out of this chasm of insanity..... sorry for the long comment
Oh my god you actually mentioned my comment XD I wasn't really saying they were revolted you didn't know man, it's just that blue is a very cliché color for signifying sadness (to the point people actually use "being blue" as an expression for "feeling depressed") and a couple years back it became sort of a meme to make fun of the overtly analytic approach English Teachers have with this kind of stuff, with jokes like: *What the author said:* the curtains were blue *What English teachers read:* well we can here see the author expressing the deep feeling of anxiety and depression that overflows the character as they interpose a layer of "blue" over what is meant to be a sight of freedom and hope in their bedroom: the window; by placing blue curtains between the character and their perspective of the world, the author signifies how, trapped in his depression, the character can't help but see the whole world in a depressing light. *What the author meant:* _the curtains were fucking blue_ Being honest, I like your take better than the cookie cutter "blue mean sad" approach; white and blue are both all valid takes on how devices' screens glow, so I think Bo went with blue both to portray the more famous meaning of sadness _and_ to show how he (and we) are constantly facing our phones and computers.
I helped my mom to take care my gramps for 3.5 years, due to his health condition someone needed to stay awake all night along till morning, which i did. Rejected two life-changer job offers, stayed with my mom. My social life totally ended, saw my friend(s) 5-6 time at most for 3.5 years. And then covid started, even with 2 fold mask, face-barrier and all other precautions we take, somehow we got it. His health gone worse and passed away. Including 1.5 more year isolated. It's 5 years of my 33 year of life. I now have a belly instead of friends, got an empty certificate instead of job and totally changed man. Still i'm trying to restart my life, i read over 300 books during that time, made myself better as possible i could. Even losing my prime years, even being lonely af and forgetting how to talk and chat people without freezing or getting stressed out. I'm trying to restart my life. I usually don't comment, yet i'm writing my experiences only because someone might take strength or lesson from my story. Bo did it, many people also did. I also will. So person on internet, you're much better than me. You can do it too.

I don't actually trust a lot of people I don't know, I dont trust politicians, I dont trust speakers, news givers....I don't know Bo personally but he's so honest and I actually would trust this person.

the "honey, it already did" always kills me because like - yeah!! yeah! thats really how it feels. it feels like nothing matters sometimes. we go to school, go to college, etc etc, to invest in a future, but it really doesn't feel like there's a future to see.
Not sure if you saw “Can’t Handle This (Kanye Rant)” from his tour five years before, but that’s the song where he addresses the panic attacks he was having at the time head on. It sets this song up pretty well.

You've done by far my favorite reaction ever! You watched the previous scenes and understood the song so perfectly, it is one that goes into your feels without a warning. What you said about the laugh tracks that made it seem like nobody was taking him seriously, it something that happens to him a lot. I remember I saw an interview where he was talking about how snapchat was harmful for teens and children, he was visibly frustrated and upset about the topic, yet people laughed and it made me sad an angry that maybe they think it's funny just because he's a comedian
I think that him grabbing the camera is a metaphor for his anxiety taking control and bo loosing his ground. I think that in this song is almost like "Welcome to the internet" in a way. I'll explain it. In all the special, Bo is interpreting himself right? With the exception of "Welcome to the Internet" because his is interpreting the internet persona. I think that this is the case in this song too, but this time, he is interpreting his own anxiety, so through the whole song we are seeing Bo's anxiety talking to him, and Bo is represented by the Camera, as we see in the "look in my eyes". So when the anxiety grabs the camera, is a metaphor for the anxiety of Bo taking control, and through the whole special were is the camera support? In the ground, and this song is the only time that we're in the air, because Bo's lost his ground. So we get a lot more unstable and we see the room from a different angle, because now we finally "got inside", we're inside Bo's head, or more specifically, we're inside Bo's mind prison.

A lot of people are split on if this is is towards his anxiety or if it's his anxiety talking. I think, like many of Bo's songs, it can be interpreted either way very easily but it can also be viewed as his mentality speaking. His anxiety is trying to take over, it's simmering which his voice kind of mimics for the "all eyes on me" lyrics. Then you have the pray for me which kind of sneaks up on the other lyrics. The tempo on this lyric is faster, it's anxiety begging and ime my anxiety, when it begs for something (when I can feel my anxiety speaking/causing me to think specific things), it's faster, it's smaller, it makes me feel smaller to externalize the request.
He then had a roiling series of intrusive thoughts, something everyone has but very much can heighten anxiety or even not be able to expel the intrusive thoughts. The oceans rising, the world is ending, etc. It causes his anxiety to explode, and he has that anger outburst, which settles the anxiety a bit. Then it ends abruptly, as anxiety can do.
All of this is par for the course for anxiety, and is super relatable. It's also just my interpretation. I've asked my pastor to pray for my mental state, it was very hard to do the first dozen or so times I asked (I've asked A LOT). I ask my therapist and thats probably the only time there's no shame attached. Which I know is ridiculous. Doesn't change my anxiety though. I have anger outbursts from roiling anxiety (usually due to someone or something hitting my nerves, and almost everytime my first reaction, if its not a much bigger episode, is to apologize but that's beside the point as Bo's anger is pointed at the situation). It's super common and it *does* calm the anxiety a bit. When I'm really overwhelmed, I scream. And you know what? It literally helps. It lets go of built up energy, which is one way I visualize anxiety. It's potential energy building up, vibrating, waiting to be used but you don't know where to aim it. Or if you can. That's why something like an outburst, a scream, etc, can settle the rest of the potential energy. It releases 3nough to let the tension off.
And if you parallel it to the scene before, the crying at the end can explain the sudden ending. Crying happens for a lot of reasons. One is to release a build of of excess chemicals. If you collect someone's tears and view them under a microscope, you can tell what emotion they were feeling. And so tear ducts are literally a drain for a build of neurochemicals that cause emotional imbalances. (Seriously google image search types of tears, it's fascinating).
This is a deep song where Bo manages to 1) create another masterpiece and 2) take you on a rollercoaster with minimal different phrases. There's a surprising lack of verbosity in this song. Most of it is several repeated phrases. That's atypical for Bo. And yet it still creates such a huge reaction. Visceral.
The laugh track playing as Bo burnham talks about something real is something he had to deal with when actually performing in the past. If you ever react to Art is Dead look specifically for the green room video and you'll see the same. Bo just mimicked it here for this song.

Like, in "can't handle this right now" he asks people to stick up their hands if they agree with him on the pringles can thing, and then makes the joke "look at all those hands that don't fit inside a pringles can". In this song, he's constantly telling his audience to stick their hands up, but since he's alone in his house there is no audience, so there is no response; no one sticking up any hands. And that's his greatest fear when performing: the audience interaction failing; the joke falling flat, him looking like an idiot on-stage

The key is "it's almost over, it's just begun". He fought for almost 5 years to battle through anxiety and depression and be in a place mentally where he thought he could re-enter the world, only for the pandemic to force him inside again. For that to happen is just crushing on so many levels. Almost like, "What's the point of even trying again? The world does not want me to get better."

Remember, though, he only stopped performing live… he’s been working offstage, that he wasn’t trapped in that small room/apartment in the special, et cetera. I think a lot of folks don’t realize this is a *film* and not his *real existence*.

But in the meantime he’s otherwise been working, has a lot of money, has a nice house where he was living with his partner and pets during quarantine and was using his guesthouse to go into to film the special.

This song hit me hard. I was a professional musician and played often. But I had a lot of anxiety and was diagnosed with PTSD. I moved city, knew noone about 5 years ago and stopped playing because I felt isolated and my anxiety got so much worse.
I had years of therapy, tried medications, worked hard on my mental health. I practiced and created a set and material. Bought a new pickup.
I worked up the courage and finally booked my first gig in 5 years in March 2020. It was set for the week after lockdown started in the UK.
I couldn't believe it when I heard this song, I fucking sobbed.
That was a very meaningful experience to share! I hope it was a cathartic cry from feeling seen & understood...like someone "gets it". I'm sorry that happened to you - it seems so unfair & cruel for things to play out that way. I hope times are treating you better & that you're feeling even just a little bit lighter now.

My experience was slightly different only in that I was not an artist/performer. I was in the military and had a rough go of it due to injuries piling up and no one taking me seriously for years and having to fight to be seen by a specialist; turns out I needed surgery. Got through the surgery in 2017. I was never given the proper time to recover and I was unable to meet the physical requirements to stay in the army, so for nearly 2 years I was stuck in limbo, being told that I was getting kicked out of the army and would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay back for my education.
After nearly 2 years of that perpetual state of anxiety and depression building up from feeling like a failure and having so many unknowns with my finances and being stuck in a place I didn’t want to be, in a job I didn’t want to have anymore, I started getting panic attacks and started going to behavioral health and was put on antidepressants. In December of 2019, I found out that almost immediately after I was told I was being kicked out there was a decision to have me go through the medical board to see if I should be medically retired instead of discharged, which would mean I would not owe any money and would get better VA benefits that I desperately needed. This means that they decided that I should go through the medical board and didn’t contact me or my leadership for nearly 2 years, despite my company commander and I reaching out for information multiple times. I was so angry at first but decided that I would just be happy that I was going to have a chance to not be in debt for the rest of my life at least.
In January of 2020 I decided that I would be positive and look at the bright side of things and stop isolating myself like I had been. When lockdown started in those initial months and no one knew what was going on, everything stopped for me. At work we were severely understaffed, we couldn’t work from home like other departments who decided the risk was too high to see the soldiers in person, so their jobs became our job on top of our own jobs. We were working 12-18 hours a day with no breaks most days. My appointments for my medboard were all canceled with no word of when I could reschedule. I got irritable, my panic attacks got worse, my depression got so bad that I was suicidal. I was put on even stronger antidepressants that had bad side affects and had to go to outpatient care. We were all staying at work hours past end of the duty day, I had multiple breakdowns at work and was burnt out. I was barely eating, barely sleeping, I lost interest in everything. I was isolated from everyone. This lasted for well over year and a half and I finally got medically retired from the army end of 2021 with 100% disability rating. I am still in therapy working on everything now.
Even despite all this, I know I was one of the lucky ones and I’m glad people like you and Bo are sharing your stories because it makes me feel less alone.
So relatable, dude. So relatable. My heart breaks for you like it did for Bo.

Not sure if anyone has told you yet but the blue can also give an atmospheric melancholy feel. And considering the tone of this song, I think that is what the blue really works here. Melancholy tends to happen in people during depression. The whole feeling of being underwater and drowning is kind of how the blue is giving a melancholic feel.
Exactly. I think especially the "underwater and drowning" part is what he was going for here. With Facetime with my Mom the blue there was definitely being used as more of like the music videos that go with that style of song and emulating the phone screens like he Chris said, but the blue here was definitely to kind of give that melancholy feeling. For me when I watched the special, it kind of also gave me like a feeling of dread, like I knew something terrible was coming and was unfortunately proven right.

I get it, We are so used to seeing the slightly out-of-sync performance on a Jumbotron that we assume it’s a live feed, but look closer: the angle is different and the shadows don’t match.That projection on the wall was pre-recorded. The triple overlay (including the close ups) is actually three separate performances, choreographed to near perfection.
I recently rewatched the special and when I got to All Eyes on Me, it hit so hard. I listened to this song multiple times, then got to reactions. I went down the rabbit hole of trying to find somebody that felt the DEEP meaning of this song. I've watched multiple reactions where they weren't giving the proper respect to the message of the song. Watching how you reacted to this, I've found my place. Made a life-long fan. Yes! Like at first it's like kind of nice like "oh going where everybody knows everybody, like seeing all the people I care about" and then that line drops and it's "oh god, going where everybody knows everybody, that's not what I want at all."
In the song before this one he has a line “gift shop at the gun range, mass shooting at the mall” this combined with the clips of his frustration made me very nervous as soon as the song started because it felt threatening. Like the audience were hostages. Hands up heads down is vulnerable pose. I haven’t seen anyone discuss it and I’m not sure exactly why the audience is being forced to watch him fall apart. One of my favorite songs.
I think it's showing the torturous dichotomy of being helped and harmed by an audience. So like, "things don't suck so bad when yall pay attention to me, but now all the pressure is giving me panic attacks". I completely agree with why you feel that way though. That Funny Feeling would make whatever comes next feel weird. Also, I think it reflects on him wanting to take the power back which is made clear by the line "maybe I'll sit on the couch and watch you next time".

Blue can simultaneously mean tranquility and serenity, but also melancholy and sober angusty. Which is perfect for the song: "are you feeling nervous? don't overthink it, look in my eyes, don't be scared, don't be shy, come on in, the water's fine" It seems so calm, so easy, but it's profoundly melancholic. This is the best reaction for this song, ty!
That moment he reaches through our collective eyes and pulls our souls out though our mouths, right? You can feel that "got it good, now get inside" like a roller coaster hill then riding a wave of harmony. It's both depressing and comforting, chaotic and cathartic. I almost feel at the end like he was frustrated with not getting the same satisfaction out of the special that he would out of live performance. I'm thinking he was almost yelling at the camera as a poor medium - the barrier between him and us, his audience. The very tool that's allowing him the ability to convey his art is also his biggest barrier. Picking it up and physically moving with it is his best attempt to break a "fourth wall" that doesn't exist in his guest house. The whole special highlights his frustration with barriers to quality human contact, communication or being properly understood in some form or another. Whether it's instagram making people look shallow, thumbs over cameras, abstract emoji use, power wielding control over speech, etc. Just my hot take which is worth absolutely nothing. I so enjoyed your video though. I'm glad it moved you as profoundly it did me. All the best to you in everything, Chris. Whatever you choose to do from here, you're good. For those who unfortunately know, they truly suck, but I have to say that those Emgality injections gave me some assemblance of a life back. Part of why this song and special resonate so deeply is because I've had to take well over a decade off of performing and even working a "real" job because of pain. I got much better with those Emgality injections by the beginning of 2020 and was in a position to possibly start auditioning again. Then, well, Covid. During the pandemic, my headaches have returned a bit and my anxiety disorder has increased. So this whole special hit so hard. But then again, I also felt some comfort in it. I know that Bo is ok. He's out and about. A lot of this was expressing his feelings cumulatively, but he had more control over himself as a performer than it seems. This was therapeutic. He's been with family and even traveled a bit - back home to MA at the very least. He's performed in LA at the Largo more than once. So I'm taking inspiration from it. He smiles at the end. I'm using that as hope for him and all of us. Thanks to Chris, we found a cool place to be. Let's hope Chris feels the same way and the full apprection we have for that. Seriously appreciate you including the scenes that came before the song, and how honest and real your reaction was-- it's a brutal song to get through if you resonate with the message and the delivery, and I can respect the hell out of anyone willing to get choked up on camera without knowing how the internet is going to react to it. It's been great following along with the special with you, and even though I don't generally follow reaction channels I've really appreciated your insights on everything you've done so far.
It's incredible and almost unsettling to me that even after probably the hundredth time hearing the song, some lines and musical moments of the song still give me goosebumps and send shivers up my spine. This song struck a chord somewhere incredibly deep inside a shocking (and frankly frightening) number of us, and I don't know how/whether history will record this song, but I can already say without a shadow of a doubt that this song and this special more generally have shaken me down to the core and made me aware of just how many others have been feeling the same things I have these last few years.

This song isn't about his anxiety about performing. This is his anxiety about NOT performing. As he said in "Art Is Dead", attention is his drug. He's an addict. Performing is something he loves and thrives on. But for a while, it was simultaneously also something that was killing him. But he worked hard to get better, and just when he started to think "Wow, I've gotten myself into a positive headspace where I can finally go back to doing what I love more than anything else in the world", life decided to say "Nope, you can't perform, you have to stay inside and alone"
This song is him crying out for the attention that he feared before but now desperately wants back.
Here’s my current personal theory on this song:
The harmony on “inside” is referencing the multiple meanings of the word inside in both this special and this song:
1. The actual physical inside where this special is taking place.
2. The interior digital space that is the internet. It can be thought of as “where everybody knows everybody” (i.e. how we’re all connected online) or “where everybody knows” (i.e. everyone thinking they know everything and having to express their opinion on everything…much like this comment 😉 )
3. Inside Bo’s mind. I can see the journey through the camera before the song as Bo literally taking us inside his mind. I think this song can be seen as Bo’s depression calling out to Bo sitting and crying on the other side of the camera in the previous scene. His depression is saying “come on in, the water’s fine”, and it wants Bo to fully give into it and put “All Eyes on Me”.
I think it’s also about the dichotomy of being alone inside when you deal with anxiety/depression. My wife struggles with them and it’s simultaneously a relief and a curse to just lie in bed away from everything.

But then it made me realize how it felt in his head when he would try to be vulnerable on stage and the laughter would overcome. What a powerful move on his end. I relate to this song so much! I started having anxiety attacks when I was 11 and I've been dealing with anxiety and depression for about 7 years now. Right before covid started I thought to myself "wow I'm finally doing better I feel comfortable talking to people, I have friends, I'm not having anxiety attacks. I'm finally ok." And now I'm not ok. I'm crying myself to sleep every night, I haven't heard from my friends in months, and I just feel this crushing loneliness that I know is partly my fault for isolating myself too much.

Can’t explain how i felt when i first saw this song during the special. The way the visuals match the phenomenal sound of it, with the subject matter and the really simple repetitive lyrics, this song and video is really the whole package. Songs that can draw such a real emotional response like this are rare and should be appreciated for every second.

He looked in-depth into the song's true meaning, while everyone else seems to take it by face value. Now for the personal pieces. I listened to one Bo song from before he took his break. I can't even remember what song it was. About two weeks before Inside came out, I rediscovered Bo's songs. I listened to every single song, I watched every single special, and I was immediately hooked. It felt like fate when Inside was released, and I was so happy. I've been in a dark place recently but I feel like Bo has truly helped me get out of that stage of my life. Seeing his struggle finally overcome, and seeing the truly mindblowing reaction to his comeback has truly warmed my heart. I feel for him so unbelievably closely yet I have no true idea how it is inside of his mind. All I can say, truly, is that I'm empathetic for him. Thank you Bo, and thank you Chris. Time maxed out, battery goes from full to dead. I think everything is intentional. He's very clear about that. Especially considering that has to be added in post/deliberately added on the projector.
I like the interpretation of the harmonies being many voices telling you to get in. Very layered.

I love your take on this. Your comment about his anger really hit me. I’m 26 and I’ve been dealing with depression and anxiety for about 12 years now. I can say from experience that anger is a part of it. Anger about not thinking your good enough, anger about not understanding what is happening to you, anger that it seems never ending, anger that you can’t seem to do the simple things. A lot of anger. I’m glad you found it as him being fed up and trying to find strength, but for me… watching this looks to me as I’m watching a person cracking. Same reason for why the camera drops and the laugh before it. To me that’s his sanity slipping away, the whole special with the laughing tracks, he’s struggling to put something together without a crowd in front of him. The isolation that creeps in takes it’s toll and causes him to talk to people that aren’t there. Which is why they laugh at him saying “which is not a great place to have them” and also why they don’t cheer when he says he got better. But I will say that releasing the special as a finished product is a way of taking a step forward. You have to have strength to release something for the world to see. Also he’s got a wife and parents who love him so I’m sure he’s doing well enough now.

You are the only reactor I've seen immediately get how unfortunate the timing of Bo's planned return to performing was when he said "January 2020". I haven't seen anyone immediately connect it to Covid. Fate really is cruel sometimes 😔
This special can only really be appreciated when you watch it all at once, it takes you for a ride.
Covid must have felt like a personal attack to Bo, to come so far only for fate to knock you back down, I lost both my dogs to sickness near the end of 2020, combined with the rest of the events of that year it sure felt like the universe kicking me when I was down.
This song speaks to the general apathy toward world events I think most of us are feeling, we've been waterboarded for almost two years with daily doomsday updates, every day a new terrible thing, and the previous problems are even worse.
It comes to a point where you become numb to it, you almost want the world to end because it seems like the only logical conclusion to follow.
I have a son now so I have to hope we turn everything around before it's too late, and I do believe it's possible.
But the older I get, the more that happens (or doesn't happen) and the constant political cycle of broken promises and bandaid solutions, it's hard not to think the worst is yet to come.
I know your comment is two years old, but I want to say that your comment about coming so far only to be knocked down really hit me - like everyone, I went through Covid. Stayed inside, all the things, for a year and a half. Always an introvert, I thought it was ok in a way, but just as we were starting to get back to "normal", the universe said NO WAIT. I teach and had major anxiety about going back to the classroom with all the students and their germs. So that was already hard. Then...Sept. '21 I get a cancer diagnosis -- suddenly, worries about immune system stuff, dealing with a surgery that was supposed to be no big deal but at the last minute became a bigger deal (will never fully recover from that, but alive, so that's good). And I put myself back into full lockdown -- I'm still there, pretty much, going on four years since the start of Covid, so I guess that's just my life. Have one cafe where I'll go sit outside to eat, but that's it. Otherwise still at home, alone 99% of the time, or eat in my car. Terrified that I'll get Covid in spite of all efforts, and that it will interfere with any cancer stuff I have to deal with (already had a second surgery, so there's that.) I'll never get to go back to a normal life. The thought is terrifying. I still teach online (thank god for that skill learned during Covid). I'm older and lonely and every time I rewatch Inside, or parts of it, I'm gutted. Just when I was "going to go where everybody knows everybody" my own body said "got it good now get inside." I guess it's better than dying. No, it's definitely better than dying. Hope you and your son got your own lives back. Bo gave us a gift with this film. The other piece that always guts me is White Woman's Instagram, all that pretty stuff hiding all the pain of loss. It was great to see him grow up over the course of making this, too.

This is far and away the best reaction video I've seen to Bo's Inside! And I've been watching all of them haha - wanting to experience that initial impact again through other people's eyes. Props on listening to your audience's advice of taking in, experiencing, and feeling the previous scenes.
You brought up multiple points that I hadn't considered! It really showed how invested you were and how thoughtful you can be.
1. The battery level on the camera showing as full in the main shot throughout, yet the filming time left showing as maxed out. This is a super interesting visual representation of "It's almost over, it's just begun."
2. Then, the battery level on the camera showing as dying (flashing, red, and nearly empty). This is only visible briefly, in one of the multiple overlayed shots. I hadn't noticed this the first few times I watched it (great eye!). It seems really significant that Bo shows this low battery only moments before losing his cool and telling us to GET THE FUCK UP.
3. I loved the way you interpreted & described the ending section of the song: in saying he was out of breath, making that cry/wail sound, experiencing significant anxiety and showing it, and then the song cutting abruptly after that. Bo's representation of emotions & feelings through lyrics, visuals, sound, and ambience is unmatched and mind-blowing.
4. The (BEAUTIFUL) multiple harmonized voices in the 2nd chorus, at the climax of the song, representing multiple voices speaking to him (both inside his own head as well as from outside sources - fans, media, critics). It's overwhelming in the moment, yet euphoric. Are you feeling nervous? Are you having fun?
I felt nervous throughout most of this special. I had so much fun watching most of this special. I never wanted it to end. But I was also dreading how much more was left, because I was constantly feeling so many emotions flooding out of me, that it was truly exhausting. I have never been so deeply affected by a piece of art. Bo fucked me up real good.

You made me realize that laugh track moment after he says “the funniest thing happened” is doing SO MUCH; it’s amazing how he uses the two different meanings of funny (humorous and peculiar) to such good effect there.
The other insight I wanted to add/highlight is how the chorus loops into multiple meanings. “We’re going where everyone knows” and “where everyone knows everyone” hit on different levels. And for those of us of a certain age, it also plays off the theme to Cheers, a bar where “we’re going to go where everyone knows your name” but now it’s twisted because we’re stuck at home.

You are the first person who got the metaphorical meaning behind the "you say the ocean's rising" verse. That's how I see that lyric. "You say the world is ending" the worst thing happened to me already, what else can you throw at me. And it makes me break down every time.
I've been told by someone who has severe panic attacks that the end made them really uncomfortable because to them is looks like he might have actually fainted because that laugh is something they do right before passing out from a panic attack.

This is the best reaction to this song I've ever seen--the people who react to this song without the lead in are really missing out. I've always thought that he's talking to the people watching the show, not his anxiety talking to him. The way para-social relationships work on the Internet, people are always getting too interested in social media stars' personal lives. I wasn't paying much attention at the time but I've heard that happened to Bo in a bad way when he was going through his original breakdown 5 years ago, people really wanted to know why he stopped doing comedy and wouldn't leave him alone. Well, here it is, the full story. "Are you feeling nervous, are you having fun" looking so deeply into someone's mental collapse? That's how I interpreted it, anyway.

Even though you watch the non-musical bits and stuff off-camera, I do think it's very very important to watch all of the music in sequence. I've seen I don't know how many reactors now watch All Eyes On Me out of context. They don't have any idea of the segments that come immediately before it, and don't have any idea about the rest of the special anyway so they have no basis for any of the emotional weight of the song and his speech in the middle. Don't get me wrong, the song is absolutely beautiful by itself, but it has the greatest emotional impact if you listen to it as a part of a whole. As someone else pointed out, you are the only reaction channel I've seen to watch those segments that come immediately before the song and it makes such a huge difference in how you hear it and how you interpret it.
Once you finish Inside, I would strongly and wholeheartedly recommend you check out Make Happy next. That was the special that Bo did right before he took his five-year break. Solid work, friend!
Your reaction to this song, but to all of them really, is exactly how I experienced them. This special was so impactful to me, and I've watched a handful of reactions trying to see if it hit anyone else the same, and it feels like most people missed out on some of the meanings, or little details and didn't quite have the full experience, so its been awesome to watch you experience everything and actually understand the deeper meanings to the various songs. This special hit me hard. It so perfectly shows the internal struggle for so many over the past couple of years with COVID, and all the other issues going on politically, socially, etc. I know personally, I was furloughed late spring 2020, right when all the really bad social issues hit a high point, we were all trapped inside, but struggling with not being out doing our part, because ...covid...and we weren't supposed to...then the election fiasco(s), then personally, dealing with not working, depression over a whole host of things related to that, and just the bleak picture of the world. By the time this spring hit, everyone was just DONE. Ready to come out....then the funniest thing happened.... Here we are clamping back down. Some things are better, and that helps provide a hope for a light at the end, but we've all lived through so much trauma that it's hard to say what we will all be like on the other side. Specials and messages like this that can give people struggling right now something to grab onto and say, 'Ok, here's proof...it ISN'T me, the world really IS crazy right now...and it's okay to not be okay.', are extremely important. All t he anxiety, conflicting emotions, and underlying messages of this special have allowed people a release and acknowledgement of all the pent up things going on in our heads, and hopefully will serve as a stepping stone to getting out of this chasm of insanity..... sorry for the long comment

I wasn't really saying they were revolted you didn't know man, it's just that blue is a very cliché color for signifying sadness (to the point people actually use "being blue" as an expression for "feeling depressed") and a couple years back it became sort of a meme to make fun of the overtly analytic approach English Teachers have with this kind of stuff, with jokes like:
*What the author said:* the curtains were blue
*What English teachers read:* well we can here see the author expressing the deep feeling of anxiety and depression that overflows the character as they interpose a layer of "blue" over what is meant to be a sight of freedom and hope in their bedroom: the window; by placing blue curtains between the character and their perspective of the world, the author signifies how, trapped in his depression, the character can't help but see the whole world in a depressing light.
*What the author meant:* _the curtains were fucking blue_
Being honest, I like your take better than the cookie cutter "blue mean sad" approach; white and blue are both all valid takes on how devices' screens glow, so I think Bo went with blue both to portray the more famous meaning of sadness _and_ to show how he (and we) are constantly facing our phones and computers.
I helped my mom to take care my gramps for 3.5 years, due to his health condition someone needed to stay awake all night along till morning, which i did. Rejected two life-changer job offers, stayed with my mom. My social life totally ended, saw my friend(s) 5-6 time at most for 3.5 years. And then covid started, even with 2 fold mask, face-barrier and all other precautions we take, somehow we got it. His health gone worse and passed away. Including 1.5 more year isolated. It's 5 years of my 33 year of life. I now have a belly instead of friends, got an empty certificate instead of job and totally changed man. Still i'm trying to restart my life, i read over 300 books during that time, made myself better as possible i could. Even losing my prime years, even being lonely af and forgetting how to talk and chat people without freezing or getting stressed out. I'm trying to restart my life.
I usually don't comment, yet i'm writing my experiences only because someone might take strength or lesson from my story. Bo did it, many people also did. I also will. So person on internet, you're much better than me. You can do it too.
When talking about the timecode, i also saw it being maxed out as him saying "I am incapable of anymore of this. I wasn't built for it"

There's nothing he leaves out, camera battery included. The attention to detail for him is always perfection, you can see it in the special. I don't actually trust a lot of people I don't know, I dont trust politicians, I dont trust speakers, news givers....I don't know Bo personally but he's so honest and I actually would trust this person.
I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed your reactions. I subscribed knowing you'd eventually get to this video and I was not disappointed. Watching this performance for the first time gave me the courage to open up about my own anxiety and depression. I cried and was so emotional first hearing the lyrics. the "honey, it already did" always kills me because like - yeah!! yeah! thats really how it feels. it feels like nothing matters sometimes. we go to school, go to college, etc etc, to invest in a future, but it really doesn't feel like there's a future to see.

Not sure if you saw “Can’t Handle This (Kanye Rant)” from his tour five years before, but that’s the song where he addresses the panic attacks he was having at the time head on. It sets this song up pretty well.

I have a love/hate relationship with reaction channels. I love seeing how people react and what they think about stuff, but hate how so many of them are pretty much just watching the video without adding anything to it.
Your video however caught my attention as I know damn well All Eyes On Me isn't 24 minutes long. I really appreciate how much you add to the video. It's not just you watching a video and pausing every now and then to avoid copyright.

What you said about the laugh tracks that made it seem like nobody was taking him seriously, it something that happens to him a lot.
I remember I saw an interview where he was talking about how snapchat was harmful for teens and children, he was visibly frustrated and upset about the topic, yet people laughed and it made me sad an angry that maybe they think it's funny just because he's a comedian
I think that him grabbing the camera is a metaphor for his anxiety taking control and bo loosing his ground. I think that in this song is almost like "Welcome to the internet" in a way. I'll explain it.
In all the special, Bo is interpreting himself right? With the exception of "Welcome to the Internet" because his is interpreting the internet persona. I think that this is the case in this song too, but this time, he is interpreting his own anxiety, so through the whole song we are seeing Bo's anxiety talking to him, and Bo is represented by the Camera, as we see in the "look in my eyes".
So when the anxiety grabs the camera, is a metaphor for the anxiety of Bo taking control, and through the whole special were is the camera support? In the ground, and this song is the only time that we're in the air, because Bo's lost his ground. So we get a lot more unstable and we see the room from a different angle, because now we finally "got inside", we're inside Bo's head, or more specifically, we're inside Bo's mind prison.
