Brent that was a good one. Thanks for allowing me to come along. I love it that you take time to fish with your dad. I fished last week and only caught 4 they have finished up here. Looking forward to next season. God bless
Man you guys are killing them. Brent my wife and I just finished the last of the slabs you gave us. Thank you so much. Those were the largest I have ever seen and they were a pleasure to eat. I watched your video on how to fillet the monsters..
After watching this video and thinking about Terrys idea of a no guide rod, i started thinking about turning one of my many telescopic rods into one of them. However like most things now days i tend not to rush into it. Finally, it dawned on me that i already have one, leaning in a corner with lots of other rods. I used to watch quite a few of Whitey Outlaw videos, and back when he was connected with BnM rods, they made a Whitey Outlaw version no guide rod. Mine is a 10 ft version, about 24”in front of the reel seat is where the line goes into the rod, and it exits at the tip where there is a straight thru metal tip. The wire for pulling the line thru came with the rod. Whitey used it mainly for poking the rod tip into standing brush by pulling in the jig to the tip, then releasing the line after he had the tip where he wanted it in the brush. So im waiting for a cheap fly reel from Amazon, and when the weather cools down i will be taking my old/new no guide rod along with me. lol Probably be trying some fly rod type casting in lilly pads and such.
There usually a bunch of mats along the canal right there, but basically just exploring the north end of the lake, there are mats around, just gotta hunt for them. A lot of them don’t last long either, usually due to spraying, mud boats ripping through them or strong winds blowing them apart.
That looks like a fun way to fish, id love to try it
Ive never heard of Terry Gauger..🤔 BUT I HAVE NOW!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣😱😱 BOOM 💣💥💥💥💥💥

Where can I get a pole to make holes in the mats like you guys have?
The ones we use are homemade, but a lot of guys just use metal rakes. Really anything strong enough to pull that vegetation apart.
Brent, my wife wonder if there is somewhere we can buy a few crappies for our freezer?
Look into local fish markets. Some will sell crappie, but they have to be tagged by FWC in order to be sold legally.
Can I buy one of those cleaning stations
What date was this video filmed?
