    The absolute best eating fish there is. And one of the best fighters. Got to get caught up so I can fish!! Finally found a reel for that rod I got from ya. Might be just the place to try it out.

    Good luck on your surgery. Great fishing. I'm in lake county would love to learn from you but I'm disabled. I can walk though. I love to fish. Keep up the great work

    Nice to see you fishing with your dad, they will always be great memories. Looking forward to seeing more videos on the river. I was out there about a month ago. The crappie were slowing down, but the shell crackers should just be around the corner.

      We make it a point to do a bonsai trip every few months if scheduling permits. I'll be back on the river here soon, actually. Water is down significantly from January, so I'm hoping we keep getting afternoon storms cause we need it bad. Beds should be looking real nice right about now, I'd think!

      @Brent Allen Outdoors yeah, it should pick up. I had an old timer years ago fishing Lake Rousseau. Tell me something I'll never forget, and it works very well. He told me to follow my nose. I said, What do you mean? He said when you're going along in your boat and you smell something really fishy, turn around and keep zig zaggin back and forth and you'll follow that fishy smell right to the shell cracker bed. And it works.. it's the fish throwing off that oily smell when bedding.

      My Dad also taught me the same thing! Admittedly I can't always smell them, but I do every once in a while. Now I just cheat and use side imaging haha. The smell method is real, though!

    Quality time with Dad. There’s a time limit to standing over filleting fish when you get older. Can relate

    What was the fish your father caught in the beginning of your video?
    I occaissionaly catch one, and they are hard fighters but i dont know what they are.
    As i was typing this you caught one also.
    So do you filet those blugills or do you scale and clean them?
    Id personally sooner filet than scale and clean.

      Those are Tilapia. They are decent eating. We typically will fillet the bluegills like normal, but I also enjoy them deheaded, scaled, gutted and fried whole.

      I’m using the cheapo ozark 1 1/4-inch plastic bobbers you can get at WalMart. They come in a 6 pack for like $1.60.

    How do you hook your crickets?

    • @brentallenoutdoorsfl
      @brentallenoutdoorsfl  5 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on the size of the cricket, but I'll usually go throw the back of the abdomen and up through the thorax.

    Do you fillet or scale the blue gill?

    • @brentallenoutdoorsfl
      @brentallenoutdoorsfl  10 месяцев назад +1

      Typically when we get a big mess of em like this we fillet, just cause it’s quick and easy. But I like to leave about 15 or so to gut and scale for frying whole. Some good eatin
