- I anticipated this event for years. I swore to not miss it but I also had challenges finding 1) a place along the path of totality and 2) a place within that with flyable weather. In the end it was absolutely perfect. It was out of this world to witness it --- out of our world. The stars aligned and I couldn't be happier.

I got tears in the eyes seeing this! This was amazing! I saw the eclipse as well, but I was in Missouri and on the ground.
I'm stoked you got to experience this in clear skies. Epic vid, man. You've got one more good one coming in the U.S. during your lifetime. August 12th, 2045. Will arch from California to Florida. I'll be 79 and will be in the air with friends.

It's always great to see another Southwell video! Your eclipse story and mine are very similar! I had no idea which town I was going to go until Sunday morning so I'd have the least clouds and best wind. Bloomington Indiana was one of my choices but ultimately went with Fairfield, Illinois because the forecast models looked slightly better. I'm about to post my full eclipse trip in the next day or two. Blue skies, my friend!

I wanted to do something like this, but it was smack dab in the middle of the day at 2:30 pm. A little unsafe to fly then... so glad someone out there got to fly it!
Nice! I did this in 2017, must experience to appreciate. The light ring was a nice touch to illuminate your wing on the chase cam. 👍🏻

Nice video but Texas wasn’t a bust. The clouds weren’t a problem and several guys flew.
Valid. The location I was planning on was a no go. And others in TX had to abandon and go try to fly in Arkansas.
