I've had my eye on this game for years and years. But it was always so expensive being a limited release. I remember spending $300 on a used copy of the Anniversary edition back when it was very difficult to find and out of print. Then they re-released it and i bought 3 copies (LOL). One for me, one for my buddy and one to never open. Now that renegade has started re-publishing these beauties, getting guadalcanal was a no-brainer. I ordered this on Amazon today!
Excellent breakdown of the game rules. The examples were really well chosen and clarified the intent behind the rules to make it all make sense. Well done Gary!
Thanks for watching our How-to-play guide for Axis and Allies Guadalcanal! Need your copy of this game? bit.ly/RenegadeGameStudios Are you ready to get this great game on your table?
Gary, yes please on the educational video about hidden movements and the other special rules. Then a strategy and play-by-play video for a normal game. Finally the third video showing how to play with a special rules.
Great breakdown! This is a great game. I love how the progressive movement encourages a series of feints and goading of the opponent into engagement or disengagement.
Great video! The combination of clear explanations and corresponding visuals made the rules very understandable. I can tell that a lot of work went into making such an excellent experience for the viewers
I'll be there capturing game histories, but I won't be playing this year. You'll find me in the Axis and Allies area most of the time. I hope to see you there!
Mine just arrived. Im so happy that Renegade took over the A&A franchise. North Africa coming out soon and im hoping they do more battle scenarios. Stalingrad, Battle of Britain, Leyte Gulf, China Theater, Midway, maybe a hypothetical invasion of Japan among others. Thank you for the video.
@@BoardGameNation I’ve been eyeballing this game for years. I missed it when it was in print. Was thinking about getting an out of print copy and BOOM, Renegade saved the day. I just got my copy recently. Hoping they’ll pick up Star Wars Armada. Atomic mass dropped the ball. Just when the separatists came out too.🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for this! Super helpful. Do you have a How to Play on Battle of the Bulge? That is the one game in the franchise that I simply can't get my head around. Maybe I am just making it too complicated.
I have been focusing on making videos for games that are currently in print. So, nothing for Battle of the Bulge at the moment. However, our friend, Ben Harsh, has a great video explaining the game. Here is that link: ruclips.net/video/YlmjJ8nH4ns/видео.htmlsi=LfPGcI-hWoUBD6Gf Good luck! Thanks for watching!
Great video as always! Let's make it hot with a question! In the animations it appeared that you always start out at the 1st spot on the hit assignment chart, regardless of if that spot has been used, is that the case? For example: 4 hits are scored against land targets but all are originally assigned to AA guns. There is an artillery and 4 infantry on the island. Is it correct that all 4 hits start at the first spot and hit the 4 infantry, or do the first 4 spots get taken and hit 3 infantry and 1 artillery? I appreciate the clarification!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hits are assigned to slot the hit fell into. If it isn't a valid target (enemy doesn't have any of those units), you drop back to #1 and move up the neck until you find a unit type they do have. So, you are going to see a lot more hits land in that first slot even if the hits don't actually start there. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
After regroup phase is done and you pick up with next round, do you resume battles of units that are in the same zone? For example, in New Georgia there were units left from the previous battle. Would you pick up with that battle and resume it in the next round? Overall an excellent explanation of the game. You earned a sub
Thanks for subscribing! If the island or sea zone is still contested (contains enemy units) when the combat phase begins, then yes. Whatever units are there will do battle. Thanks for watching!
Is the dice box actually wide enough for the dice to turn over? It looks like the dice might only be able to rotate about one axis. So, for example, if all the dice were placed inside such that all the 6-faces were facing the red numbered side of the slider, would you ever then be able to roll a 6, or would they be forever stuck facing that way (in which case you would only ever "roll" 2,3,4,5s)?
I wondered that, too. But, I didn't find that to be the case. Like any dice shaker, you have to give it a good shake to get a random roll. I haven't had any trouble get that with the battle box with this game. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
I actually have the original Avalon Hill version and finally got a chance to play it, are there any differences in the rules between the Avalon Hill version and the Renegade Games version?
Am I mistaken, I thought moving sea units from the base card to the main board only happens during reinforce, resupply and deploy pahse and costs supply tokens depending on how far forward you intend to deploy?
You can move sea units off the base card as a combat move. You can also spend Supply Tokens to move directly from the base sea zone out to the map. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
We can take a look at it, but in the meantime, Ben Harsh does a nice job in his how to play videos. Here is a link to his Battle of the Bulge HTP: ruclips.net/video/YlmjJ8nH4ns/видео.htmlsi=gWJkO7szjisg0Iuv Thanks for watching!
Couldnt find an email anywhere, be heros, start a go fund me to add another version of A&A to the online, I am sure fellow gamers would dig deep. Awesome channel, be heros!
I love your thinking! I might not have the skills to build out the software, but we might be able to build some other services that folks will enjoy. Thanks for watching and the suggestion!
Working on that, but the games are so big that it is hard to get the content into manageable chunks. We do have a few ideas in the works that might be pretty cool. Thanks for watching!
Please explain Victory Point calculations. How many points are awarded to a destroyed Capital Ship. There are only 9 air fields. Which ships are considered Capital ships?
Carriers and Battleships are "Capital Ships" and players are awarded 1 Victory Point for each one sunk (page 12). You are correct. There are 9 airfields. Players score 1 Victory Point for each undamaged airfield they control at the end of their turn. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Hi Board Game Nation and Fans. Is anybody able to tell me why in the RuleBook for Axis&Allies Europe 1940 American units are seen in control of both West and East Poland. Thank you, much appreciated.
I think you are talking about the product shot on page 5 of the rulebook. That is photo of a theoretical game in progress rather than the game setup. Though looking more closely at the image, it looks like it is going to be an overwhelming Allied victory. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I would love to see a youtube series where you play through a full game of this!
We might make that happen. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
Yes!

We are looking at this. We need to find some folks with enough experience with the game to play it well enough to share with everyone. Any ideas?
