In Japan, where the number of games is fewer than in the U.S. and he only pitches once a week, he has never completed a season without injury. He throws a fast ball, but the quality of his spin is not that high, and in MLB, there’s a significant possibility he could be easily hit.
Moreover, despite not achieving notable results in Japan, he sought to move to MLB quickly, which has led a considerable percentage of Japanese people to dislike him.

The Dodgers didn't win between 88 and 2020. Yankees, Giants, and Red Sox all had their own winning eras in that time span. They've had this ownership group for 10-11 years and only won twice. You have years like 2023 with a Rangers - Diamondbacks World Series. Luck is a huge factor.

@@VGJunky there are 10 teams every year that have a chance to win. The other teams end up being the minor leagues for those with there own tv networks. Ya you can sprinkle in luck and some small market teams winning it all, but pretty much all those teams chose to buy talent these years, and lost the home grown talent after. Just make it a 10 team league. Skenes is a perfect example of what’s to come. Drafted by Pitt, raised, taught, gave him proper experience, then lose him to a mega contract. No one with a brain can admit that these contracts aren’t way out of control. 700 million is probably worth as much as two teams combined value
@@JohnDoe-qu7gm If my count is correct, I'm showing 16 unique World Series winners in the last 24 years (since 2020). That's a healthy spread. I'm sure it starts to look even better when you look at playoff teams over the years, and it's clear that anything can happen once you make the playoffs. The Padres almost took out the Dodgers again this year.
It's more about whether other teams are willing to invest in their team to put the best product possible out there (which would bring in more fans and increase revenue further). That's NOT the objective of a number of teams, and that's no fault of the teams that DO spend to stay competitive.
Other teams could be a lot more competitive than they are, and instead they're pocketing the money. There is revenue sharing in MLB. The luxury tax and local revenue goes to the other teams. There's just no floor so they don't have to reinvest it into making the team competitive.
The majority of actual intelligent discussion around this from people covering the sport agrees with this sentiment.

Orioles need to do quite a few things but if the price isn't right (trade or free agency) they won't. After last year's trade deadline IMO that was the signal that their window is shut.

I don't get it. So the Dodgers get absolutely anyone they want in FA now, payroll should be the size of a small country's GDP but it's mostly deferred longer than I'll probably live, and everyone just seems like this is okay? I live in Tampa which should absolutely not have a pro baseball team (no one goes to the games, payroll is among the worst in baseball, and every good player is immediately traded for a bag of popcorn and a coke refill). We're looking up at teams that pay 1 or 2 players our entire teams payroll for the year. Where is the competitive balance? Force a minimum spending for all teams or stop this non sense of deferring money. If you're going to pay it, then pay it right...geez. I literally may not live long enough to see the start of Ohtani's contract begin to pay.

That’s why majority of people start watching MLB in the playoffs, with this uneven payroll across the league is insane, if your team can afford it they will try to buy a chip. Only occasionally a small market team makes it out.. it’s ridiculous and that’s why MLB is losing popularity.
