機甲化忍者集団「スカル」に捕らわれた仲間を救い出すべく、活躍する忍者たちを描いた横スクロールアクションゲーム。操作は8方向レバーとショット、ジャンプの2ボタン式。レバー入力とジャンプ操作を組み合わせることで、2階へジャンプしたり、スライディングを使うことができる。登場する5人のキャラクターは連射･敵弾防御･破壊力･斬りつけ速度が違うため、それぞれ特性に合った戦い方を進めなければならない。ゲーム中登場する千両箱にはアイテムがあり、シールド、スーパーボムのスペシャルアタック、得点アップや体力回復のアイテムが入っている。アメリカナイズな世界観や味方キャラやボスキャラの台詞が音声機能によって演出されている点が特徴。当時コナミが力を入れていた4人同時プレイが可能な作品の1つである。

Mystic Warriors is a horizontally-scrolling platform beat-em-up for up to four players, in which the evil 'SKULL' organisation has taken over the world and driven its terrified civilians into hiding. Five Ninja warriors set about destroying SKULL and freeing the World from its grip.
Mystic Warriors features five selectable characters, one of which is shown being kidnapped by SKULL once players have made their character choices. What follows is eight levels of platform 'run-and-gun' action, with an end-of-level boss waiting at the end of each stage.
Players are armed with both Shuriken throwing stars and with a sword for close encounters. Numerous boxes are scattered throughout the levels (or are being carried by enemies), all of which contain bonus items such as weapon power-ups or energy-replenishing food. Other power-ups include an invulnerability shield (known as the "Shinobi Shield") which lasts a few seconds and a "Smart Bomb" power-up, which destroys all on-screen enemies. Some boxes also contain points-giving items, such as bags of money, jewellery and gold.

「ゴクラク オウジョウ」「テンプラ～」 このセリフを聞いた時、このゲームは名作だと確信した。（実際最高だった＾＾）
Love how diverse the player characters for this game are. There are two obviously Japanese ninja, a kabuki actor, a Greek ninja cosplayer and an Afro-American Buddhist monk.
This was the wonders of arcades. Everything is made to appear cinematic. The levels. The environment. When bosses approach. The way the music sounds and is loud to catch your attention. Explosions being loud. Your hero looks and appears badass taking out screen filled with enemies. Its a shame this type of gaming is gone and is something that new generations will miss out on.
There isn't that much story but enough to make you feel invested. Interactions with bosses, at the start, lead to some story and get you pumped for the fight.
I totally agree! This was the golden age of gaming, it seems like we're living in the iron age!

I'm sure its been said multiple times in other vids of this game but it can't be said enough: This soundtrack/OST is Excellent.

This is the most fucking 90's RADICAL thing I have seen this year.
I have seen only 1 cabinet of this at galloping ghost arcade, which is also a 4 player cabinet. I would like to play it someday.

対戦格闘ゲームのブームに乗り遅れたコナミ暗黒時代の作品。
前年のX-Menと並んで名曲揃いなんだけどなぁ…

コナミのサンセットライダーズ的な「アレシリーズ」＞
この路線、続けて欲しかった。
・・・カプコンが「ベルトスクロール格闘アクション」という、
「メーカーの特徴をよくあらわす金看板」
をこの時期、既に持っていたのに対し、
同じ関西系のゲームメーカーとしてコナミは、
何一つそんな金看板は持てていなかった。
ここら辺からコナミが版権のみの商売をやり始め、
ゲームメーカーとして腐っていくのは皆さんご存知の通り。
サンセットライダースと本ゲームが、
コナミに残った、ゲームメーカーとしての最後の良心であり、最後の咆哮であり、悪あがきだった。
と個人的には思ってます。
だって、これ、面白かったもの、ゲームとして。
コナミは悪魔城伝説の時にFCに専用チップ積んでまで音楽を充実させるとか、とにかく音楽に拘っていた感はあるね。
でも時代が進むにつれて他がコナミと同じ水準になると、その役目も終わったという感じも。
