    Finally a Flexpath video I can relate to due to there being so many sponsored flex path students on youtube. I hear you regarding the enrollment counselor. Total frustration, really not enough information shared with them at the start. Mine was an out of pocket expense and they were just interested in getting my money and my degree taking as long as possible. Grading from the faculty was swiftly marked.

      Hi Luke Robson. I am glad my video was helpful for you regarding the Capella FlexPath Program. Yes, I was/am frustrated with how Capella runs their financial disbursements for distance learners. I am still in the process of paying back my tuition. Hopefully in the next month or two, I will be able to obtain my physical degree. I finished the program in five months and felt like I was penalized for it. The FlexPath program maybe shouldn't be offered if it's a problem. I am hoping they see this video and redeem themselves in my eyes, but I guess we will have to wait and see. 😀

      The FlexPath option is great if you are self disciplined and need to have flexibility with your schedule. ☺️❤️ I have seen other learners who spent way too much time on courses and ending up paying more than they should have. If you could get it done in 5 months and only have to spend 5K on a Master's, I would highly recommend it. No debt after college.

    Thanks for this detailed video. I am currently enrolled in this program. Have you ever submitted an assignment while waiting for one to be graded? I am in the second course and it takes this instructor longer to grade my papers (48 business hours). I’m tempted to submit my last assignment while I’m waiting for the 3rd one to be graded.

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  4 года назад +12

      Congratulations on getting your Masters in Nursing Education twilliams9259. I had a few classes that took instructors way too long to grade assignments. One class, I submitted three assignments within three days because my papers were not being graded quickly. The instructor was upset and wrote about it in my assignment feedback stating that I need to wait for one assignment to be graded before submitting the next. Regardless, I passed the class. I have a feeling, at least with the flexpath program, that some of the instructors are trying to extend the time if takes you to complete a class since they charge by quarter and not the class itself. I finished the program in five months by submitting assignments quickly and it costs me less than 5K. I hope that was helpful ☺️❤️

    I am just watching this now. I just started the MSN program in leadership (as they said this is closest to a generalized MSN) I am curious how your experience was as far as work-life-school balance. I work full time, and am hoping to get this done in a reasonable amount of time but not stress myself out too much. Any advice would be appreciated

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  Год назад +1

      Congratulations on starting your MSN program in leadership! Balancing work, life, and school can definitely be a challenge, but with careful planning and a positive mindset, it's absolutely doable. Here are a few tips that may help: Time management: Create a weekly schedule that outlines specific blocks of time for work, studying, attending classes, and personal activities. For example, you could dedicate certain evenings or weekends solely for studying, while reserving other times for work and personal commitments.
      Setting realistic goals: Break down your coursework into smaller tasks and set achievable goals for each week. For instance, aim to complete a certain number of readings or assignments by a specific deadline. This approach helps you stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.
      Communication and collaboration: Talk to your supervisor at work about your academic commitments and explore flexible work arrangements if possible. For instance, you might discuss the option of adjusting your work schedule or working remotely on certain days to accommodate your classes or study time.
      Self-care: Prioritize self-care activities to maintain your well-being. This might include setting aside regular time for exercise, practicing mindfulness or meditation, engaging in hobbies, or spending quality time with loved ones. Remember, taking care of yourself is vital to maintaining focus and avoiding burnout.
      Seek support: Connect with classmates or join study groups to share the workload, exchange resources, and provide mutual support. This can help you stay motivated and overcome challenges together. Additionally, utilize any available resources provided by your program, such as academic advisors or counseling services, to seek guidance and support as needed.
      Remember, everyone's circumstances and schedules are different, so adjust these examples to fit your specific situation. The key is to prioritize, plan ahead, and maintain a healthy balance that allows you to excel academically while taking care of yourself and fulfilling your work commitments.At least that's what I did :)

      Sure, I'd be happy to help! The Biopsychosocial Concepts classes at Capella University focus on the complex interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors that impact human health and well-being. The classes aim to provide students with a deeper understanding of the connections between physical, emotional, and social aspects of health and how to apply this knowledge in practice. Topics covered may include stress, coping mechanisms, resilience, and the impact of culture and society on health. I hope this helps provide some clarity on the course content! Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns.

    Hi!
    Did you ever do a video on Capella’s capstone for MSN?
    I have completed all my courses and now am being told I have to wait for “approval “ to register for my capstone.
    Had no idea this was required… I was never contacted about my practicum along the way. I successfully completed all my courses without any difficulty.
    I have gotten conflicting information on who gives the “approval”. So I’m basically just sitting wasting time and money waiting for”approval” to just register for the capstone class.
    I don’t want to have to do another billing session!

      I am sorry to hear you are waiting for approval franchesca R 💜 During my time with the Capella's program, I started receiving emails from the program regarding setting up preceptorship for the capstone about half way through the program. I was not allowed to enroll in the capstone portion until my preceptor was approved and sent over the necessary documentation to prove their credentials. This could be what they are waiting on in order to approve you for the course. Did you submit your preceptor information for the course? Has your preceptor sent over the documentation they need?

    Thanks for the video...i have 2 questions

    2- can you still get FNP with MSN in education from different universities?

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely, those are some really good questions about the MSN program. So, about the audio or video assignments, I do remember there was one video assignment that needed to be completed towards the beginning of the program but I do not recall there being any audio assignments.
      And as for getting an FNP after doing an MSN in Education, typically, FNPs go through a specific program focused on that role. But if you've already done an MSN in Education and want to switch to being an FNP, you might not have to start from scratch. I can't speak from personal experience as I did not go the FNP route after my MSN. I would highly recommend speaking to advisor at a university you are thinking of attending to confirm. It's always great to have options and flexibility in nursing. There are so many different ways you can go with it! 🌟👩‍⚕️🎓🔬

    Hello, I am considering my MSN in Education and looking into Capella and WGU. I am prepared for an abundant amount of paper writing however it's been some time since writing papers. I have heard many online classes now provide you with the appropriate template and you plug your paper into the given format. Does Capella provide this service? Additionally, could a preceptor be a MSN nurse that I currently work with and could hours be done in your own work environment?

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  2 года назад

      Congratulations on taking the next steps to complete your MSN Kari Smith. 😀💜 Capella did provide examples of what the paper should look like in many of the classes to help you format and break down the content they are looking for. Not all classes had examples, but a majority of them did. It was super helpful, especially in the later classes that require a lot more paper writing. As for the preceptorship, I don't think it would be difficult to work with an MSN nurse that you work with; however, you would have to complete your preceptor hours outside of your work schedule and current environment. I would definitely follow up with one of the Capella advisors just to confirm as policies may have changed since I completed my Capstone project.

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  Год назад

      I can't provide specifics about Capella University's exact format for recording MSN on-site practicum hours, but I can give a general example that many universities use. Always make sure to consult with your program's guidelines or contact Capella University directly for their preferred or required method. Here's a general template:
      MSN On-Site Practicum Hours Log
      Student Name: [Your Full Name]
      Program: [Your MSN Specialization, e.g., "Family Nurse Practitioner"]
      Term/Year: [e.g., "Fall 2023"]
      Date Clinical Site Preceptor's Name Objective/Activity Start Time End Time Total Hours
      10/05/2023 ABC Health Clinic Dr. Jane Doe Conducted patient assessments, focused on cardiovascular health; assisted with minor in-office procedures 8:00 AM 12:00 PM 4 hrs
      10/07/2023 ABC Health Clinic Dr. Jane Doe Managed patient care plans, discussed medication management with patients 9:00 AM 1:00 PM 4 hrs
      Total Hours for Term: [Total Number, e.g., "40 hrs"]
      Remember to keep a copy of your log and regularly back up or make duplicates to ensure you have a record of your hours. It's also a good practice to regularly check in with your preceptor about your hours and get periodic signatures to confirm.

      Hi Danielle Kukich ☺️💜 Congratulations on taking the first steps to complete your MSN. It can be difficult to start any program without any guidance from the University. I can state from past experience that I was not able to see the requirements for the capstone until I was 50% through the program. This is when the practicum counselor will be contacting you to begin submitting your paperwork. There were requirements that the person precepting would need to hold a Master's Degree and submit paperwork to prove their education and experience. This needed to be approved before you began. You will also need to perform both direct patient care and indirect patient care hours totaling to 100 hours (I believe, don't quote me). Some of your final project hours can be used as indirect patient care hours. I can't guarantee these are still the same requirements but wanted to give you some feedback based on my personal experience. ☺️

My biggest fear is not knowing where to start in terms of where to look for information to incorporate for my papers.

      Hi! I'm glad you found the video helpful!
      For your questions about Capella University's MSN education programs, especially with the FlexPath option, it's great to hear you're considering it! Typically, Capella provides a good range of library resources and access to databases where you can find relevant materials for your research papers.
      Regarding the billing inquiries for FlexPath, Capella does provide invoices or billing statements for each billing cycle, which you can submit to your employer for reimbursement if required. It's always a good idea to confirm this directly with Capella's admissions or financial services to ensure their documentation meets your employer's requirements.

Also wondering about capstone paper that seems extreme/65 pages?

    • @NurseCheung
      @NurseCheung  3 года назад +2

      Great questions Kerri ☺️💜 Each class is made up of several papers when you take the FlexPath Program. There are very few assignments outside of these papers. You will be provided with a rubric that will outline what needs to be researched and discussed in each paper. There is also a minimum and maximum number for each assignment. I found many just provided a maximum number of pages because some topics can become quite wordy. As for the capstone project, you are provided about 5 assignments I believe that make up the final capstone project. For example, you will write papers on several different topics that you get to choose from and the final capstone paper is made up of all those papers combined. This is why my final paper was 65+ pages. I hope that answers your questions ☺️

I did feel prepared when I became a bedside educator with the information I had gained from Capella, but it didn't have much focus on curriculum development which is essential in the academic setting. I would recommend obtaining your DNP in Nursing Education as I believe this is where you will get a majority of that kind of education. These are all great questions sony jisho 😊💜 Unfortunately, some of the questions I won't be able to answer regarding transferring credits as every university has stringent requirements regarding the credits they will accept. I would highly recommend following up with a counselor at Capella to ask about your transfer credits. As for the Financial Aid reimbursement you are discussing, I would also follow up with your organization's tuition reimbursement plan servicer. I can only speak from my personal experience, as I was able to get reimbursed for my tuition after each quarter, but my organization wanted me to sign a contract for 1 year after I received the reimbursement. Your organization may have different requirements. Lastly, as for the cost of the program, yes, I spent $5,400 for 6 months because I completed the flex path program very quickly. The great thing about the FlexPath program is you can work as quickly or as slowly as you want without worrying about deadlines if you have other priorities in your personal life. I sat in front of my computer non-stop for 6 months and wrote the papers that were required for the program quickly, meaning I only needed 6 months or 2 quarters to complete all the requirements. Pricing for the program may have changed since I took the course in 2019, so I would follow up on what the cost per quarter is now. I hope this helps answer your question.

    Did they offer payment plans?

      Great question Sasha Andria ☺️💜 The only payment plan that I was aware for those individuals who worked for companies that were affiliated with Capella. I would recommend reaching out to an advisor to see if there has been any updates with their payment processes.

    I was wondering...what is the average paper length and what is the longest paper you had to do?

      It was all dependent on the class. Some papers only required two to three pages, double spaced, APA format. Most papers were four to eight pages, double spaced, APA format. The last paper was a total of 65 pages for me based on previous papers I had written for the class. It was definitely a lot of paper writing. 🤗💕

I plan to start the program next month :) one last question... you said in the beginning it was 12 classes + capstone but I only heard you mention 11 classes & capstone, can you clarify? Again, thank you for all your info. Its been a big help in making my decision to go back for my MSN!
