    This method works like a champ. Great idea! I did put a block between the pipe and the back side of the tub enclosure wall to minimize the pressure being put on the pipe connections of the valve body. Thank you.

    Should using a wood block beween the housing and 2×4 for safer to operate this trick . Love your idea .

      I completely agree. I checked that my valve was secured to the 2x4 between the studs with the metal strapping tightly before attempting this. I probably should have mentioned that in the video. Hopefully people use some common sense when DIYing things like this. This cartridge required pretty minimal prying force to be removed. But it's hard to capture that in a video while filming with one hand 😅

    Pull the cartridge apart cause you will anyway and use a 3/8 iron pipe tap
