I bought one exactly the same, got the same gas bottle from BnQ,yet I can't for the life of me get the bottle to start, can you send a photo of the bit where the bottle screws in please
They don’t last very long and it depends how much you “open” the canister. We kept ours on the minimum, and needed quite a few canisters to fully get through our driveway which becomes costly.
Thanks for this, I've just bought one of these to kill the weeds on the paved area of my back garden. I have a few bird feeders which get a lot of weeds underneath from spilt weeds and I didn't want to use "Roundup" as there are a lot of wild birds feeding off the ground.
Thanks Brian. We avoid using Round Up, and I hope this burner works for you. If you want and a really cheap, natural alternative weed killer, this recipe works ridiculously well especially on hot days: myhomefarm.co.uk/a-cheap-way-to-kill-weeds-natural-and-non-toxic
We have the same issue with the addition of fine silt and mud being washed down a comunal lane into our gravel... we're having to put our gravel through a Scheppach Rotary sieve to "clean" it. Lotta hard work but hopefully prepping it and some form of drain will stop the worst of the silt and mud in the future. 🤞
How much did you have to actually scorch the weeds to kill them. I have just bought the same item as yours with a different retail badge and I went out and turned most of the weeds I had a go at to ash. I rather think it might not require anything like that much zeal oops
We didn’t experience try this on our stone or brick paved areas, but it didn’t char our gravel. You could also try this one from Draper as an alternative: myhomefarm.co.uk/sustainable-environmentally-friendly-electric-weed-burner
Hi Steven. Gas is much faster to get the job done, but the canisters can get pricy, and you can get through the canisters quite quickly. Electric is slower, but more environmentally friendly and cheaper to use. I've been using a conventional blow torch which I already owned and is OK to deal with the number of weeds I have to deal with. The challenge I have is that I have to get rid of weeds at the border between a tarmac drive, brick walls, etc so you have to play the torch across the weed to prevent melting the tarmac too much!
Good point. Never considered that the blow torch would melt tarmac - that's a top tip! We have the border and gravel driveway problem in multiple places. I think this'll require some sort of edging.

Thank you for your video, just wanted to know how long did a gas canister last?

@@MyHomeFarm Thank you! Can you please define "don't last very long"? 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour? Just to have an idea. Thanks!
It’s been a while since we’ve used it… probably between 15-20 minutes.
@@MyHomeFarm thank you!

Hi very good , how long the weed can come back ?.
TKs
It varies, but in the summer it suppresses weed growth for well over a month.

Wow Ken. That's an additional amount of work that I'm grateful we don't have to deal with.

We overdid it in the video. Just getting the leaves to shrivel is sufficient damage.
What about side charring on flagstone .?....would this method of removal cause black scorch marks on say Yorkshire stone or similar?

@@MyHomeFarm there is a video on here somewhere that shows the user shielding sensitive areas with a shovel. Looks very effective
I must say I expected a bit of a diffrent video when I was looking for weed related topics
Sorry to disappoint you 😀
