Well done! I've ridden that trail but from the bottom up to Katsuo-ji. My strategy is to ride uphill. That way if I get totally lost, it's an easy ride back down the way I came. I'm from California and the other MTBers that I encounter all speak pretty good English. The hikers I encounter are all friendly senior citizens who don't speak much English but they seem happy to meet a foreigner who's out enjoying the forest. People can check the heat map on Strava to see which of the trails criss-crossing the mountain are the most popular. I don't have an MTB. I ride a Trek Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 which is like a retro MTB - no suspension but fat tires.
Riding up that trail is very impressive, well done! Everyone I encountered was incredibly friendly and I agree everyone was just very happy to see people out enjoying nature!
