- Darach and I head out to our local forest to try hammock camping again but this time with an underblanket. We cook up some good food, have a good fire and have a relaxing Spring camp.

hahaha i had not expected that the dog would get into the hammock as well xD Nice.
He loves a hammock too 😄 thanks for watching!
Love the whole video Sam.
That hammock is really handy.
I made myself the camping stuff easy and safe for cook.
Love the way you take Care the natural environment I am with you!
Full support. 🍃🙌🏽
Thanks for share!
Thanks so much Enrique 😁👍
I did something similar to this on the late 70s. A friend and I were supposed to go on holiday to tour Europe but he cancelled at the last minute so I bought a tent and a rucksack then spent the next few months hitch hiking and walking and camping in the hills and woods of Scotland plus the Isles by myself. Best holiday I ever had! I was about 19 years old. My equipment was pretty basic as I did this on a whim and was very under equipped but still had fun. Compared to my kit this guys kit is sheer bloody luxury! 🤣👍🏻😎
Sounds like quite an adventure 😁👍🏻
My heart when Darach is in the hammock 😭❤
He's the best hammock buddy! 😁
@@HighlandWoodsman Like a lil portable hot water bottle ❤
Those bivvy hammocks usually have a specific under quilt that work for them, probably best to shoot DD a message and see what they recommend.
Hi Paul, thanks for watching and commenting. I had a look at the website when I got home and it just said for the XL to tie to the extra holes where the spreader poles go in 🤷🏻 a little bit disappointing.
@@HighlandWoodsman if it really is for your specific hammock then it's just got to be an adjustment thing, it took me a while to get the adjusters just right on a regular gathered end hammock and the bivvys are infinitely more complicated to get good UQ placement. I would start by trying to adjust it as tight as you can to all four corners so you get a decent air seal all the way around and see how far into the sag your bodyweight pushes you. It's a little counter intuitive how they work at first and coming from a tent I always felt like I should be cocooned and wrapped up in my under but it seems like unless you are 5'6 max that just isn't going to happen. Maybe also try seeing if it fits up the sides a little kind of like a bathtub floor on a double layer tent? Im not sure why and even though I don't use the bivvy style hammocks I'm really invested in seeing that thing work properly now, good luck!!
Great video, more tree id is interesting and valuable information so please do more. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching 😁👍
Happy Easter and good luck.
Thank you!
Great vid as always mate, prefer the forest thoughts in the same video rather than separate 👍 look forward to more tree ID.
Thanks Brody, it's hard to guess what works best on this platform 😂 definitely easier for me to keep it as one
Good spot for a camp, nice weather too, somwhere in the middle, not too cold, but still a need for a campfire. The equipment you have looks awesome too, what else than to have fun with all of that, cheers!
Thanks so much for watching the video 😁👍
Nice load out fella, very similar to what I carry 👍. Fantastic location you've got there too for a local spot.
Cheers fella, atb Rick n Billydog
Many thanks for watching Rick, appreciate it 😁👍
Another great video, I've following your stuff since you started put stuff out and I find it really good. I've started looking more at tree ID so keep the extra bits coming please
That will teach me to read before committing, english is my first language honest
😂 thanks Paul! Really appreciate the support!
Ive recently found your channel after watching Joe Robinet for years. Love the content, its great seeing trips in areas local to myself. Inspiring me to dust off my kit and get back out again, keep it up!
Thanks so much for watching Sam! Hope you enjoy getting back out there 😄👍
Loved the video, one of the few channels I watch every episode from start to end 👍🏻 the tree ID is a really good idea mate keep it coming 🤘🏻
Thanks Matt I really appreciate it. It's hard to know whether to make shorter or longer videos sometimes.
Fantastic viewing, Sam - many thanks for sharing your time, experience and knowledge with us. The Scots pine versus Sitka spruce a genius comparison; we have both in the garden and I'm arse/elbow when it comes to distinguishing them - until now!
Thanks so much for watching, glad I could help you out a little bit 😁👍
My 2 mates have the same set up from DD and have the same problem with under blanket 2 big guys like yourself fits my hammock perfectly they need to make a larger one for you guys loving the videos ❤🏴
Good to know it's not just me! 😀 thanks so much for watching.
Loved the tree ID bit.
If I'm not mistaken that was your longest video so far? Genuinely entertaining the whole way through. Top work. 👍🔥
Thanks man! I think it was and it's not intentional. I've been trying to make them shorter and snappier thinking they would be more enjoyable to folk but it never happens 😂 thanks for watching as always 👍
Just discovered you from TikTok, great relaxing camp vid to watch. Love to see you actually tucking into your food and hungry! So many camp videos show a perfectly presented meal on a board and all I can ever think is tuck in, it’s going to get cold!!!!
😂 thanks Elaine! And yeah I'm not hanging about for food 😁
I always look forward to your videos, your probably only one of a few people I subscribe to who's videos I watch from to start to finish without stopping!! Tree I.D part was helpful too, Happy Easter to you and I look forward to the next video. Tony.
Thanks Tony, really appreciate it. Comments like this encourage me to keep going. Happy Easter to you too.
Awsome Vid and nice Camp there Bro
Thanks so much Robert 👍
Enjoyed that! The addition of a Labrador helps too 😁
Wouldn't be the same without him! Thanks guys 😁👍
I should be heading out instead of watching vids, 🤭 just feels like I was out there though, great job your doing. 👍🏻 going through all your videos and looking forward to the Sweden episodes,
Thanks for watching you really are getting through them :D
Amazing video. I’d rather be there!🍻
Thanks for watching 😄👍
Hi. I enjoyed watching the video again. Love how your videos are down to earth. Defo like the forest thoughts in the same video. The tree id is a great idea, very helpful. May be add if it's a hard wood or soft wood. For a newbie like me it could be helpful. Keep it going. 💯 like your channel
Thanks again for watching and the feedback definitely helps me too. These were both softwoods 😁👍
Yeah, do more tree ID stuff. Please.
I will do!
Great video. Amazing place. Gosh, you have my respect to be able to sleep with the dog all night. Mybe cuz my hammocks are just lain type, less room? Yours is a Clark, I think?
Thanks for watching 😁👍 this is a DD Frontline XL hammock.
😍
😁
Hey,
I’ve just discovered this channel & in particular this video. Really interesting & enjoyable content:-).
I also noticed you have the same hammock & under blanket I’ve just ordered I hope to be using them during the October/ November months. I live in Oslo so I guess we get similar weather to you.
Have you any tips for the under blanket problems you discovered on 1st use?
I’am also sharing the hammock with my dog so that’s the reason I ordered the DD frontline XL with under blanket hoping the extra space inside would help for a better nights sleep.
My dogs a lot smaller than yours so I guess we’d have ample room together.
I’am a little concerned about the under blanket fitting.
Any tips or suggestions ?
Cheers Gary 😃
Thanks Gary! Yes definitely plenty of space, especially with a smaller dog. I did speak to DD about the attachment but they couldn't really offer me much at all. It does seem very strange to produce a larger hammock with an underblanket that doesn't really fit! It still does the job though but I'm not sure it would be enough in the colder months! Thanks for watching 😁👍
@@HighlandWoodsmanlooking forward to setting it all up & trying it out. I don’t think I’ll be out colder than -5 but if I am I’ll let you know how it performs.
Happy adventures 👍🏻
You too! 👍
