Incase you don’t know yet, the e-brake doesn’t connect to the brakes. It locks the transfer case. So be careful when you jack up the truck because it could roll off the jack.
K this may be a dumb question and im totally spacing something obvious. But how would it roll off the jack any differently? If the tcase is locked the wheels wont turn, if brakes are locked wheels won't turn, but either way jacked up the tires are off the ground.. what am I missing? Lol
@ a regular handbrake locks each wheel separately with its own caliper. A transfer case brake locks the driveline. If you only lock the drive line and you jack up one side of the car, the open differential allows the wheels to turn independently of each other unless the axle locker is engaged. The only reason the transfer case brake works is because all wheels are on the ground at the same time. Once you lift any wheel off the ground, the opposite wheel on the axle is free to move independently and roll off the Jack.
I'm a mechanic from England. By the looks of it it is either sucking a little air into the fuel or the injection system is worn-out/clean injectors. I usually put a gallon of petrol in a full tank of diesel. Turbo could be worn but the smoke would be worse and white....✌️👍🇬🇧
Injector seals are a common issue and causes this too. Easy fix with the right tool to remove them. Each are coded to their positions, so put them back in the cylinder you removed them from. Also check the ECU plug (under the driver's seat) for oil on the pins. The cylinder injector loom is inside the rocker and oil can get into the plug and track along the wires and can fill the ECU with oil.

3-4 inch lift, 35 inch tires, delete some stuff, bigger injectors, go a little bit of a bigger turbo, diesel's are like rotary's when picking a turbo and remember to stay in the rpm efficiency range which will probably be around 1200 and up
Ive got 35" tyres on my 4x4, I would recommend not running them full time. @@dazzanzlg30-660 is way to big even with a .49 rear, here in Australia we use the Garrett gbc22 for diesel engines upto 3litres. The best way to go with a bigger turbo and keep it decent to drive would be to change it to a vnt turbo

Jimmy do an EGR delete, straight pipe, new injector seals & harness straight away. Regarding seals & gaskets use genuine LR parts every time. If your going too upgrade turbo, make up your own log manifold and support bracket, as these td5 manifolds warp and pull the studs with ease. LOF clutch kit, timkin bearings, old man emu suspension , TD5 inside mapped ECU … away ya go 👌🏼
Td5s actually run below the temp being in the middle so that normal. My nanocom reads 86C when it’s sitting just below middle so that’s normal. Check out td5inside for more power and vgt turbo, you will need a bigger inter cooler. Talk to Luke at Lof clutches for a new clutch and flywheel because that tune will smoke your clutch. I’ve got two Td5s, one here in the states and the other Germany waiting to become legal.

Hey Jimmy, I’m abit of a diesel nerd here in Australia and we love our 4cyl diesels like the Toyota 1kd and Isuzu 4jj1 which are both 3 litre 4cyl turbo diesels. A quick rule to thumb for picking a turbo for a diesel is think of the displacement, half it and change to petrol. So for example a Nissan TD42 is a 4.2L 6cyl and half is 2.0L so a turbo for a sr20 will work. For your td5 I would recommend the Garrett gcb22 turbo which is a 44mm turbo and it works perfect on old school Toyota diesels here in aus. Trust me jimbo you don’t wanna go too big because it will just be a dog to drive
Get that thing mapped it'll be night and day difference, straight pipe,EGR delete you can get about 180-190bhp,or bigger turbo n intercooler n you can make 200+ and its a TD5 for you there notorious for issue's just happening randomly, the smoke could be turbo, piston rings or turbo seals, hope you get it sorted Jimbo
It will definitely need to be mapped even just to run on American fuel since their octane rating is lower. That could be why it's smokey too tbf if it's running rich maybe 🤔
