I think there is a really interesting story being glossed over right now regarding this Hogwarts legacy stuff. I've checked out about 10 streamers who decided to stream the game and every single one of them decided to donate some percentage of proceeds of the stream to some trans charity as some defense for playing the game. This is essentially the same thing as paying protection money to the mob to me. Giving up a percentage of their income to the groups of people that they are scared will attack them for playing it in hopes of keeping them happy. Some seriously sinister stuff people are subjecting themselves to in hopes of not being "cancelled".
It's the same thing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton did to enrich themselves.

In my opinion the success of Hogwarts Legacy means A LOT on the political spectrum. It shows that "modern audiences" and all the regressive leftists on Twitter is just a small, loud, angry mob and not majority of consumers. General population doesn't give a rats ass about Alphabet community and dramas going on on Twitter. We (the average population) do not live in California, New York or London. We do not live in gated communities with high paid jobs, and do not see identity problems as problems. There really isn't apt way to succinctly describe how pathetic these journos and their sycophants are.

They created a thankfully short-lived search engine dedicated to finding streamers who were broadcasting this game, specifically for those wishing to create a hitlist of streamers to bully, just for playing this game. The name of this search engine? I believe it was called "Are They Playing That Wizard Game?"

I'm not really a Potter fan, but I watched a couple youtubers play some of the beginning of the game and I was really impressed by how good everything looked and how well it played. It just looked fun, the streamers were having fun, so I purchased it. About 20 hours in and I've been having a great time. It's a solid RPG and the combat system is actually very well done.
The graphics and gameplay are jaw dropping. Great job to the staff members who put so much effort on this game for us to enjoy. Those lunatics must really appreciate them which they won't

I'm really liking the game. My only complaint is the million and one cutscenes. The mob doesn't seem to realize that when they hate something so much, it only makes it more popular. It makrs me think of the, "Uzaki Chan wants to hang out" controversy. Normally, i have zero interest in romance stories. But because of the controversy, i watched it. And really enjoyed it. Its a game based on books,Of course it will have cutscenes.I love games with well fleshed out stories and cutscenes.
"My only complaint is the million and one cutscenes." I watched about 40 minutes of the opening and this was the single biggest turnoff. I'll probably still pick Hogwarts Legacy up whenever it hits a half off sale, hopefully the cinematics will slow up or be skippable.

@@elblaise5618 You can skip through the lines, but if you're not willing to sit through a few hours of world building while learning the ropes, of which there are a very large amount, then why bother with any game like this? At 10 hours in I can say this game is astonishingly well made and executed and the way things are presented, "cutscenes" included, goes a long way to holding my interest, which I cannot say about the other recent action RPG "Forspoken", that has long, dull unskippable exposition dumps at beginning and end.
And why this particular game? Why no Lego HP boycotts? Why no Nintendo boycotts? JK has deals with literally everyone. She get royalties from every living human. Not really, but you feel me. Why use Twitter to boycott HL when it’s owned by Elon Musk who has much more controversial views than “women have wombs”. JK gets death threats for “women have wombs”. While one has a right to not play the game, impeding others, causing others to loose their jobs, harass them, WTF is wrong with these people?! These folks think playing a game directly endorses Rowling's comments. WTF. How about folks who want to play? For example, I do not agree with Orson Scott Card's personal politics one bit, but Ender's game is amazing and he wrote an amazing book on writing characters. And finally, all this mindset does is hurt the Trans community. I know plenty of friends who happen to be Trans and excited for this game but fear how their friends will react. And really, all this hatred does is give the actual folks who hate Trans more ammo to attack them. I am just glad that not only did the game get free publicity cause of the controversy, but that the game is legitimately good (even great) for a Wizarding World game, and it deserves its high ratings.
I bought a copy of edge magazine last year. It was so well-made, there was a huge cuphead interview. But a few pages in I was told that I'm supposed to have an opinion on laws made by the supreme Court and women's reproductive Rights and what different industry officials thought about it. I then threw the magazine in the trash and was bummed, because it seemed like it could have been a good magazine.

JK Rowling expressed a personal opinion which she has every right to do. She did not state she had any issues with people’s gender identity except that there are some women who might feel vulnerable in a bathroom with trans women. There are a lot of abusive men about, which is not to say that trans women are abusive as a group, but vulnerable women don’t know whether the trans woman using the bathroom is an abusive man and might feel threatened by it. It’s different for trans men because men generally do not feel threatened by trans men. But to have true equality you cannot stamp all over the rights of biological women to satisfy the trans woman agenda.
I admit that I sometimes have trouble differentiating between the artist and the art depending on how bad the artist's offence. However, I won't judge people who can do that. If anything, I commend their strength. I myself am not interested in this game for one simple reason: I'm just tired of Harry Potter. I still love the books and movies, but I'm not boycotting the new content due to Rowling's beliefs. I just don't buy what doesn't capture my interest.
Tbh I think this game is quite incredible because as someone who never liked Harry Potter myself even I gotta say this game is made with love.

I wasn't going to buy the game cause I never got into the Harry Potter craze when the books and movies came out. They were ok I guess but after looking at actual gameplay it looks very fun and like a magic version of elden ring. So I'm all for it. I got nothing to lose but il share it and recommend it to everyone so the game has a huge success 🙌

There are two things about this "controversy" that I find hilarious:
1. The game itself is not the source of the drama. No one is crying about anything actually in the game.

The boycott was doomed before it was even declared, and the reason is simple. Harry Potter has had over 20 years to gain momentum. These activists had no chance. She doesn't game but loves HP and wants to play this game so she's getting all the articles/clips fed to her by the algorithm. She's trying to parse out why this drama is a thing to begin with. It wasn't worth bringing up before because she had no stake in it but given her love of the franchise it's easier to show her how insane the detractors are.

I am only conflicted about this game BECAUSE Rowling isn't involved in making it. I read books and enjoyed them because of the world SHE created. I don't care about her worldview, it doesn't really matter to me, she is a rich person who has no influence on my life.

Yeah. The Wizarding world has polyjuice potion and transfiguration. It doesn't make sense that a wizard or witch that wants to be the opposite sex wouldn't use those. That said, the game is fantastic. The opening scene showing Hogwarts was so cool. The smallest details are lore-friendly. This will be one I will replay.
If you lay down for people like that they complain you're not flat enough. It's recreational bullying and harassment.

This game alone has exposed the problem with modern journalism to many more people and I couldn't be happier. I currently plan to get the deluxe version of the game in March. Metroid Prime Remastered is a must since I've always wanted to try that game.
Btw, I think it's annoying they decided to make that half measure by introducing that identified trans person in the game as it feels forced, but I'm willing to forgive it since you showed it's not intrusive. I loved GTA Ballad of Gay Tony so I can live with such a small thing like this. Though to me this is just proof Avalanche shouldn't have bothered with that half measure to shut them up as that was a clear waste of time and resources. But I will admit, I'm impressed they didn't go further and glad they didn't.

So I had no expectations for this game, but so far the game is actually amazing and so much detail and love in there from the devs, was never a huge Harry Potter fan, but so far this seems like a really solid game

I agree that harassing people is wrong, definitely something they shouldn't be doing. But you also have to realize that JK Rowling wants to take rights away from trans people. That affects them WAY more than some people making you cry on the internet, to be honest. I am against the hate mobbing people are doing to creators, obviously, but it does not affect you more than JK Rowling affects them.
That still doesn't mean that it's the consumers fault for buying the game, the blame for that all falls on Rowling. SHE should be the one being hate mobbed, not the people playing the game. At the same time, it just feels weird seeing people complaining about internet trolls and comparing it to trans people whose rights are actively being attacked.

Rowling not only donates to anti-trans organizations, but also organizations that limit trans people's access to healthcare, equal rights, and the right to not be discriminated against. However, I still must say they're distinct. You can't just remove the physical traits that made them men completely, they're left over after the transition. However, they're effectively women, body (partially) and soul.

I support this game 100% I even bought two copies of it one for PlayStation five and one for Xbox also buying a Nintendo switch when it comes out if this game gets nominated for game of the year I’m gonna vote for it. The bad rep people are giving this game in an attempt to protect a certain group of people only gives more relevance to the game, and therefore JKR herself. The boycott is literally pointless as the game isn't actually transfobic, only the author of the original books is.
If people don't want to buy it because it's associated with JKR, that's fine. But harassing or guilt tripping people into not getting it because they don't like it is wrong.
