Thanks for sharing that. We just moved so we are hunting game lands right now. Im hunting over a bean field with a scrape right in side the woods. We are seeing a lot a deer including some nice buck. Great tip for hunting. Havent seen any buck when i was hunting there, but they are on trail camera so they will make a mistake sometime. Thanks again for sharing.

Just killed my first buck last night. He was headed up a finger ridge to a scrape!

Have you considered that rainfall actually can re activate scents from scrapes? I learned this from an experienced dog tracker. Rain can actually REactivate a deer/blood trail making it easier on his dog. Thoughts?

depends on when the scent was deposited in relationship to the rain

I was out hunting years ago with my brother , I had ' Peed ' on a nearby Deer Scrape . About 2 weeks later a 3 point buck had come directly up to my 2 man Deer Stand which was only 10 feet tall , this buck had stood up on his hind legs to reach my ' platform ' so I reached out and petted the Deer . Apparently my brother who could see my stand from where his stand was used his cell phone to video me petting this Deer . All of the rest of that hunting season my brother kept saying how I was a ' Bad Hunter ' , " With all of the Hunters out in the Woods , Bill is the only ' hunter ' petting Deer instead of shooting them . The Deer walk right up to his stand and he hasn't shot not a one . Bad Hunter , very Bad Hunter ." He told this story and showed his footage even in restaurants , people in our area were just laughing at me every time they saw the video .
