A huge big way to survive pvp is be built like a tank, heavy armor rules here! You want to be close to 33k resistances which is end cap, many build even higher than that in order to be at max resistances even when they get debuffed.
But to get kills then yes you might also want medium armor, you might event want 1-2 light armor for the penetration. If you going to crouch or go invisible a lot and try to get 1 shot kills before enemy knows you there, then yes you can build with way more medium and light armor than a tanky guy out front taking a lot of hits.
Knowing which pieces should be heavy always like the big armor pieces like chest/head/legs. The pieces if you want light armor even just 1 piece for the undaunted passive, then its always the belt so you lose the least amount of armour. The hands are the next least armor piece can can go medium or light if you really want another light. Feet/shoulders are good spots for medium.
Some might go all heavy to be the big tank out front, but they just decoys who usually cant get kills in pvp but can survive or survive a long time.
Others go with a mix of heavy n medium, more heavy to be more tanky, but with some medium so they got some power and burst ability to get a few kills.
The rest who want the best one shot kill ability might go all medium or maybe a couple lights too for the pen...these will die quickly if attacked a lot, so being able to go invisible like with nightblade abilities or streak away like sorcs is the best classes to try this sort of playstyle in pvp.
So the basics of how to build your gear can make or break any play in pvp as well. Too many come into pvp zones with pve gear and set up for being a glass cannon and some even worse with group buffing gear on and they aren't even in a group while wearing it....group buff gear can be worn but you wanna be in a group that can help you while you wearing it.

Yes, this message exactly. You make a lot of good points, but the reason I left heavy/medium/light armor compositions out of the video is primarily because of the fact that there's way too many variations of playstyles and builds for that to be a universal feature. For instance, you're not going to find a ball group or small scale player stacked up in so much heavy armor versus med/light.
The stuff I mention in this video is kind of universal all class tips.
You usually need to be built around heavy armor playstyles too which is often more solo or BG content, or maybe playing cyro/IC with a pug group. I often solo pvp/1vx on my nightblade, where I only wear 1/2 pieces of heavy, 1 light, and the rest medium. As long as you're hitting high enough HP pools, and have a source of major/minor resolve at a minimum, you're probably in an OK position armor wise.
Agreed about glass cannon PVE toons. I can't count the times I'm running around in Gray Host and I see someone with 22k HP light attacking me with relequens or pillar of nirn on, and then that person gets flattened by any nearby player immediately.
