I would say my favorite thing is how easy they are to tame. Mine is still a tiny little baby, but will eat from the scary sky hands, and no longer immediately tries to launch himself out of my hands when I pick him up.
I like when mine yawns after he eats a good meal. I also like giving him baths in the sink. It’s good for his skin when he sheds. I also like when he wags his tail before striking at his food, it’s like when cats wiggle their butts before pouncing.
Keep in mind I’m not very sure about this* leopard geckos aren’t only active at dawn and dusk, they can be active whenever and they effectively choose when to be awake. That’s why some people say they are nocturnal and some don’t etc (again I’m not very sure)
I have only had my leopard gecko for a month. I am learning a lot like food, enrichment, nutrition, lighting but mine constantly wants me to hold her. She comes right out of the tank on my hand.
Hi! What did you do to get your Leopard Gecko to want to be held? I am adopting one soon and I want to get one that likes being held. Also where did you get your Leopard Gecko?
@@evelia_noellesk It was just friendly really from the get go. The day we put it in the cage I told my daughter we shouldn't mess with it for a while but she wanted to come out right away. And so we really just held her a lot and let her ride on us from day one. We have a cage that opens from the front instead of having to grab her from above so I think that helps bc she can just walk onto our hands when we see her out.
*I just want to say, sometimes they make two noises:* 1) “sneezing” (?) - if you find that your leopard gecko has an RI (Respiratory Infection) or has accidentally eaten some substrate/reptile carpet, he/she may sneeze. 2) Sometimes, not always, but sometimes juvenile leopard geckos will scream when threatened.
I love your tank build I can tell it’s a exo terra what one is it because I think all my leopard geckos would love a tank like that. I just took in my 15th leopard gecko she’s a Murphy patternless like yours she was found in the wild so sadly someone just released her but someone found her and reached out to me.
Hey I've got 7. And my favorite is feeding them. (Side note I Love your channel I just kicked off mine. You and Dan got me wanting a diamondback terrapin lol!)
What would you guys suggest: crested gecko or leopard gecko? I live in a village, so it is a bit harder to get feeder insects. Also the weather outside is often with pretty high humidity (70%). Furthermore I am a student and I prefer an animal that is low maintenance what costs not a lot in long term. What a seek in a reptile is that they tolerate handling, are not nocturnal, prefer bioactive enclosure, don’t poop on me lol and that they kinda bond with you (not like a dog, but more like a hamster: they know who u are but do not prefer to get attention often)
Both leopard geckos and crested geckos can tolerate handling (depending on the individual and how much you work with them), but crested geckos jump more. Leopard geckos are cathemeral, active periodically throughout day and night (but most active at dawn and dusk). Crested geckos are crepuscular. Bioactive is great for both species. Both species can potentially poop on you, I think cresties are more likely to (although I’ve worked with multiple of both species and have never been pooped on). Since it’s harder for you to get feeders and your area has high humidity, a crested gecko would probably be better. Although keep in mind that they should ideally get live insects 1-2 times a week.
Hi I'm just wondering do you have all your animals under a bunk bed ?? If so how did you do that since I want a bunk bed with animal enclosures underneath
Hi Sweetie, I've had a red haired slider for 19 years and recently switched him to a bigger tank and noticed him shedding like crazy and it's been going on for about a month now is there something wrong with him? He is acting normal and his eyes are nice and bright otherwise. Please help 🙏???
My main reason to not get a Leopard Gecko till now is i can't manage their food. Getting a Leopard Gecko mean getting 2 new animal in the house... And i don't really have extra space for 2 🥲.
Hi! So I recently got a red eared slider, he’s nine years old, and he’s having some issues getting onto his basking platform. We have a zoo med basking platform, and it makes me really sad when he can’t get onto it. I don’t know what to do, because I know he has to bask.
Sometimes adding some more grip, like with shelving liner, can help make it easier to crawl up into the basking area. Also, if you got him more recently, it may just take some time for him to adapt to his new environment!
@@TheTurtleGirl Yes when I come up to the cage or walk by she runs straight to me she’s really excited but when I try and pick her up she just bite me and runs she’s also up throughout the day she usually only sleeps at night is the normal
hey if your leopard gecko has ever bit you, can you please reply and tell me if it hurts a lot or just mildly or not at all because i really want a leopard gecko but i'm like..seriously so afraid of any animal bites
Leopard geckos tend to be docile and are unlikely to bite in general, although it depends on the individual. They can potentially bite you if they mistake you for food or if they feel threatened. Bites generally don’t hurt, although they can.
I strongly recommend not housing them together. It can be done in a massive enclosure with plenty of resources so they don’t compete, but even then there are risks (and it definitely shouldn’t be attempted by a beginner). I have seen countless cases of geckos seeming fine for years, then snapping and seriously injuring or killing each other.
Not much! The heat mat is only so many watts - so if you really wanted to find out you could find out how many kilowatt hours youre using and then multiply that times what you pay for kilowatt hours for utilities

Actually, geckos can learn some interesting behaviors if you handle them. For instance, my gecko knows that if she waits on a specific decoration while I'm in the room, I'll take her out of her enclosure. She only really does this during the breeding season, but she does do it. Not for any physical affection from me, but it is interesting to observe, and she does use this as a way to "request my presence" I suppose you could say. Good thing I haven't linked a behavior with giving food like scratching the glass or trying to get my attention. Guaranteed she'd be doing that 24/7. 😂
I am looking to buy a leopard gecko, since I already have a tank for it, a heater, and a rock enclosure for him, but my tank is a 20 gallon tall, with 24 inches in length of floor space. Is that enough?
They need at least 30" of floor space, minimum. But ideally 36". So a 20 gallon tall would not be an appropriate size enclosure for them. It can work as a temporary enclosure if you include a lot of vertical climbing decor/hides. But you definitely should plan on upgrading to a 40 gallon within a few months.
what's your favorite thing about leopard geckos? I like how they stick out their tongues lol 😛
im planning on getting one but idk if I can afford a turtle and a gecko
because I want to follow the correct guide lines

I’m getting a leopard gecko for Christmas and your videos have helped me a lot
aw that's super exciting! good job for doing your research!
@@TheTurtleGirl have you got any good name ideas for what to name it?
Uuummm, mine chirps and squeaks, he hates going back in his enclosure. And he's super lovie. Loves coming nose to nose with me. ❤❤❤
"I don't want to waste your time" wow we've reached a new level of RUclips content
lol just get to point already xD
@@TheTurtleGirl would love to see an update with the musk turtles! Huge huge fan!!
Your pet is soo cute!
thank you! 🥇
One of the cons for me is getting stuck shed off their toes because it always seems to happen and it's a pain to remove.
Stuck shed can generally be avoided by providing a humid hide and maintaining proper enclosure humidity (30-60%, measured by a digital hygrometer).
Like your shirt 🌻 I’m planning on getting a leopard gecko and this helps a lot.

Is there a certain size tank for leopard geckos? I have a 12 inch tank wold that be big enough?
That’s nowhere near big enough. Leopard geckos need a 20 gallon long bare minimum, and 40 gallons (36x18x18”) or bigger is strongly recommended.
Aww your leopard gecko looks like the morph my adolescent one is going to be! It's an albino mack snow leucistic :D
