I noticed it wasn't the first sight of a pup, but hearing a pup that really caught her attention.....I think the sniffing was her confirmation! :) It is indeed beautiful, and may I add that the tattooed gal is awesome too.
I also heard from other comments that they were mistaken and they later found the lost puppy. They just assumed it died because they received four instead of five.

They have emotions sure but not to the depth of ours. I don’t think anyone is going to say a woman reuniting with her children (after say, being torn apart cause of a war or something), will ever equate to the happiness a dog will ever feel. Caring for animals is great, they shouldn’t be abused…. but don’t equate them with people. They are animals. We are not.

@@lunafringe10 Nursing Mothers need some "break" from the puppies. The mother's nipples might get bruised from the constant begging/sucking of the pups... may eventually lead to severe skin irritatiion/infections. (idk if they were just rescued... so yeah)

I'm not so sure. When my dog had pups, she sometimes acted stressed and seemed to be looking for an extra one even though they were all accounted for, usually in places the puppies had been recently. We even tried to soothe her by distracting her for a second and conveniently hiding a puppy near where she had been looking lol (never worked xD). I think it may have been the smell they left behind. She could be looking because it smells like them in the carrier.
A so-called friend of mine called himself a vet tech and knew when a mother dog was going to abandon her pups. He told his lady friend to pull one pup and start becoming its mother. While momma dog was locked up downstairs in the cold basement. After trusting his judgement for twenty four hours, I decided to have the gal put the dog back. Momma was super elated and was not the mean dog he painted her to be. I recall getting her a cheap cardboard box to fully stretch out in to feed her pups , the look she gave me was a huge thank you. I wish I recorded it to prove it to his dumb butt. Then I had to buy a kiddie pool to keep them contained, and she was even happier once she could leave for a break, and they couldn’t jump out. Those looks from her are seared into my soul.
Last night I visited a friend who had lost one of her senior-age dogs. The dog's daughter was barking from time to time to try to find her mama. My dog did the same when his life-long companion died. Come to think of it, my Mom's dog looked for her after she passed.
Yup! The communication is so clear. And I get so tired of saying how sentient they are, just like us. We are animals too, but we forget. Oh the things we do to them because we think they are "just animals". It's the biggest pain I feel in this lifetime.
I've had cats for many decades. Always two at a time. When one dies I bring the corpse home from the vet so the other can see it, sniff it, know it's dead, and go on with their lives. Animals understand death. They don't understand missing.

I recently purchased a little plushtoy rabbit, that's réálly soft. First it felt embarrassing, but then I googled and it turns out that at the least 30% of the adults in my country has a stuffed toy in bed. And it's 50% in the USA, I just googled. If you ever find a nice plushtoy, anywhere in a store (or thriftstore or yardsale) with very soft fur and/or kind eyes, take it home! Men, women, elderly, they all have plush animals, it's just that (almost) nobody is brave enough to mention it.

The last article I read about this, the mom was dumped by a breeder, they went and got the pups as well because they were too young to separate. The staff were suspicious there was a 5th and stated they were going to go back and see if one was being hidden.
Sadness and happiness as WE percieve them, it's different for other animals. All of this stuff if programmed into our DNA you think in other animals it's not?
Once you get into the scientific philosophy about it more than the novelty of liking animals it becomes amazing to consider even the birds and squirrels outside our doors offer complex and intelligent behavior that, if you were insane enough, could be cultivated into a relationship with. The certain clicking sounds for a squirrel followed by nuts, or matching the song of a bird that happens to be a curious one so comes to say hello to you. From there, it only expands and is just a simple example. Revel in research, it's like finding God but for yourself when you fully appreciate the brain development of other species.

She was so heartbroken over there in the corner. Then she's hopeful hearing her baby cry. She couldn't wait one more second for the pups to be presented to her so she went in to see for herself. She was thrilled and thankful for her 4 babies back, but she was clearly asking for her other pup. She realized she was missing the one, recognized that this lady brought the rest but not that ONE. She misses and wants her last baby. What an amazing and smart little mommy. I'm glad she will have the comfort of the other 4 while she mourns her loss.

Apparently the mama dog was rescued from an abusive home. Some of the people at this shelter went to the owners house and talked the owner into giving up the mama's puppies. This was their reunion. I can't belive how cruel people can be to such loving and loyal animals.
God has created amazing and beautiful animals for us to love enjoy & respect. It's a shame that people are cruel . Beautiful mommy and her pups! Hope they are doing well

I'm a grown man of 58 years, and this video makes me start to cry. The shear joy on the Momma's face when she realizes those are HERS is almost too much for me to watch! You can just see the love on her face. How wonderful!!
That's true but also don't consume dairy then cause mother cows and their calves will always be separated. Most of the time immediately right after birth. If the calves are male then they will get killed for the meat and to make cheese. There are lots of heartbreaking videos were mother cows are running after their babies or trying to fight off people who are taking them away. Mother instincts and mother love exists in all species - not just in some.
This is so sweet, but it also breaks my heart. Dogs clearly love their babies. It makes me so sad that they don't get to live with their babies. Their babies are always adopted out after a few weeks. It must be heartbreaking for them when their babies are taken away.
I actually think she's sniffing the box hoping that the 5th puppy was there - She's happy and obviously relieved & esctatic to see her pups but look how she keeps looking & sniffing... From the sound of it there was a 5th but it died So she's looking for the other. See how she is sniffing to see if there's any sign or scent of another one. Laura Rodriguez this is much different than what I did when my dog had puppies. I way the appropriate time of about a week to 10 days after birth of the puppies before I made any moves. Basically I walked over picked up the puppies from their mom through all the puppies in a trash bag and began stomping on the bag. I then threw the bag in the dumpster. They never really reunited

No, none missing. She just is smelling the smell of the puppies from the closed crate and it's confusing her. There was actually an article about her online, confirmed that 4 pups was the whole litter.

She was so heartbroken over there in the corner. Then she's hopeful hearing her baby cry. She couldn't wait one more second for the pups to be presented to her so she went in to see for herself. She was thrilled and thankful for her 4 babies back, but she was clearly asking for her other pup. She realized she was missing the one, recognized that this lady brought the rest but not that ONE. She misses and wants her last baby. What an amazing and smart little mommy. I'm glad she will have the comfort of the other 4 while she mourns her loss.

Apparently the mama dog was rescued from an abusive home. Some of the people at this shelter went to the owners house and talked the owner into giving up the mama's puppies. This was their reunion. I can't belive how cruel people can be to such loving and loyal animals.
I hope the owners are in prison right now.

That's true but also don't consume dairy then cause mother cows and their calves will always be separated. Most of the time immediately right after birth. If the calves are male then they will get killed for the meat and to make cheese. There are lots of heartbreaking videos were mother cows are running after their babies or trying to fight off people who are taking them away. Mother instincts and mother love exists in all species - not just in some.

This is so sweet, but it also breaks my heart. Dogs clearly love their babies. It makes me so sad that they don't get to live with their babies. Their babies are always adopted out after a few weeks. It must be heartbreaking for them when their babies are taken away.

Laura Rodriguez this is much different than what I did when my dog had puppies. I way the appropriate time of about a week to 10 days after birth of the puppies before I made any moves. Basically I walked over picked up the puppies from their mom through all the puppies in a trash bag and began stomping on the bag. I then threw the bag in the dumpster. They never really reunited

No, none missing. She just is smelling the smell of the puppies from the closed crate and it's confusing her. There was actually an article about her online, confirmed that 4 pups was the whole litter.
