I was 4 years old in 1996. I have read some people call the birthday cake castle ugly but at that time it was one of the greatest things I have seen. My mom said I couldn't stop looking at it anytime we walked by the castle.
I love the Birthday Castle, such a neat concept for the 25th anniversary. I do miss the era when Disney Parks anniversaries were made out to be big deals, not as low-key as they are now.
When you think about the castle cake..🤔It's really easy to look back on it with a snicker 🤭 but for those of us who grew up going to the parks in the 90's, it's a fun little piece of history to have been a part of.
BEST PARADES EVER!!!!! Hunchback of Notre Dame - ABSOLUTELY THE BEST LIVE SHOW EVER AT WDW!!! STILL brings tears to my eyes at the "Outcast" solo!! I miss BEFORE the wholesale remodeling construction of Main Street and Hub AND blanket commercialization. Back when I NEEDED to go ..... OFTEN!!! No desire whatsoever nowadays. ABSOLUTELY NONE! WAKE UP DISNEY!! Get back to traditions and Walt's dream!!!!!
What a wonderful time capsule you've restored for us! So many parades and memorable songs along with so many classic characters that we all grew up with, with all that in mind we we'll always be able to look back on these memories and forever still be able to remember the magic!
I went to the 25th anniversary with my parents and my two children. We had the best time, it was magical. So many hated the castle cake but my kids loved it. It was all about the kids and bringing magic and delight to the little ones. Modern Disney focuses on the adults, not so much the kids like they did years ago. Thanks for showing that video!
My family and I visited Magic Kingdom a few days after Christmas that year. First time experiencing New Tomorrowland, went on Alien Encounter a few times, and rode Space Mountain about 6-7 times in a row while Spectromagic was going on. My Dad and I would get off the ride, run to the exit, and run right back on with no line. Fond memories!
So funny to not see many of the movie characters we are familiar with today. I'm always a fan of LESS IP, but... hard not to discount the impact those characters have had on us fans. And calling this retro??? Dang! I was 22 in 1996.
Same for me, and that was my motive for attending during the 50th anniversary celebration, albeit at the tail end, meaning my recent trip was earlier this year. Speaking of which... ruclips.net/user/shortshX87XhzvkcE?feature=share3
Loved watching this as it was my first full year as a cast member - a time capsule! Definitely not on the finale float of the Toy Story Parade in this version, however :)
SpectroMagic, my all-time favorite parade...the time period at WDW during the 25th anniversary celebration was probably my favorite time in the history of the parks. Just so much fun. Hey WDW - after you bring back Spectro Magic, why don't you also bring back the Jolly Holiday dinner show at the Contemporary?!
41:45 Sadly, Disney no longer hires talented actor/singers like this guy in the old Hunchback show. It's all big screens and videos now. The heart is gone from the parks. Bummer.
I love being born 96 would love to go there. It's nice see every quarter anniversary I will forever be tied to that 50th I'll be 25. 75 then I'll 50. And lucky 100 lol be 75😂
Was there the year before for my honeymoon. It really was a magical place back then for everyone. Sadly, we went back in 2014 and the magical feel was very nearly gone, already the writing was on the wall. Now you couldn't pay me to go there under this new woke crap Disney. It's truly sad and not at all special for anyone which of course was the goal. Sad.

The Cinderella Castle looks delicious!
I have so many fond memories of that Birthday Castle, thanks for upload!!!

Spectro Magic was the best. So beautiful

My family had a big vacation that summer, terrific seeing all this!
This is my Disney experience in a video. ❤️

Even in 1996...everything still felt chill and laid back

Castle Cake my beloved!
Castle Cake ❤❤❤
36:30 That's Eddie Wilder as Sarge in the parade that day. Never forget that voice!
I was there that year. I hated that birthday cake castle 😂
Ahhh When Ariel was still white miss those days , Great video post thank you .
Imagine that. A parade that featured one of Disney's most iconic songs Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. And now totally removed from everything. 😢
Welcome to Woke World.

I distinctly remember the cake castle if only a castle was really made of cake.

We went twice that year
