When I was in Turkey I worked with a Bosnian guy Rasim for 2years. Bosnians are polite sweet people. Respect, and love to my Bosnian brother/sisters from Afghanistan 🇦🇫...
Chitaranjan Ransingh, I don’t know what u up to ??? what do you mean? Root of good comes from one, when it shared to second that’s when pure beauty produced. (Being polit, good moral, unselfishness that is what makes human beautiful) ...
Which root you talking about, my friend first you have to have some general knowledge in human history, and religions history, first of all christianity is only 2000 years old. I don’t see any root in Christianity. Before Christianity people’s religion was Judaism, Budaism, idols worshiping. So you mean all Christians including you left their root religion that was Judaism, Budaism, idol worshiping..etc. And you saying that all christians, Jews, muslims, should be killed by Buddists or idol-worshipers because they have root to it. We muslims have no root in Islam, but we chose Islam over Christianity, Budaism, Judaism, etc.. because the understanding of Islam, God is simple only one God has no partner or no son or family members. In Islam people are equal white has no superiority over black, and back has no superiority over white. Royal family has no superiority over local people, local people has no superiority over royal family. in Islam racism is not allowed. When Islam came no to slavery. In Islam it’s mandatory to give 2.5 if all savings to charity for needy, and poor people. in Islam we don’t need to go to imam (religious preacher) to connect us with God, any muslim or human by clean heart can have a spiritual connection with God. In Islam not allowed to use women as a sex slave, or prostitution. In Islam it’s mandatory to take care of your old parents with patience and respect. muslims has no seniors nursing home. This is why Bosnians choose Islam over Christianity. If i ask you even you don’t know who is God, who is Jesus? For muslims Jesus is a prophet, and a servant of creator (God) same like all other humans. You have no answer on point to answer about Jesus. Because maybe you never thought about God، or you thought about it but still you didn’t get your complete answers. My friend you will be confused if you really do a research about Christianity understanding of God. I am not disrespecting Christianity I respect all religions, but when it come to discussion I have to explain the truth. Look in USA, Europe, Australia, media people hate Islam, but fastest growing religion in the world right now is Islam. Why ?? Because Islam is weak? Islam is bad? muslims are terrorists? etc..?? Answer is no because Islam is complete religion for lifestyle, for business, for governing،...etc. ً people can be bad/good. In cultures can be bad/good but Islam is in every muslims heart Choose by their own well. No one is forcing westerners to come to Islam this is there own choice, and no one can stop it because it’s matters of heart spiritual connection with the creator (Allah, God).....
Ed 18 I think you didn’t read my previous comment and still you talking about root and slavery. Come on man don’t wast my time and your time go watch champions league.
surojeet chatterjee I didn’t get your comment my friend, but Allah (God) given human freewill that angel does not have freewill they constant in order to do what God orders them, given them duties, or worship. For human Allah(God) gave choices for example: if there is red light and green light we are free to pass red light or green light or pass in between the street don’t care about lights. In these situations Allah (God) inform us human that any choice you choose indeed there will be accountability for each path you (human) took. And Allah (God) order us (human) to cross green light which is safe for yourself and for others. using our logic that God is only one with no partner, human be righteous in this world, Worship and bowing only to Allah(God) not to any dependent beings or things, because Allah is independent of any thing unique and perfect that nothing can be perfect but only God. Human your in the test of better being so don’t go after fame, lust, desires, materialistic selfish life in this world. Human live in this world as a normal righteous person help needy stand with innocents, and strive in path of God that your arrogant blood beings well stop you from righteousness etc....human at the same time don’t forget to focusing on eternal life after your temporary life in this world. Human whenever you in need request from me only me(God). Human your brain is limited to the knowledge, what I provided, and what you learn in this world. no human saw me before don’t try to make my picture or idol. These were the green light massages from God to human not to muslims only, but to all humanity. Now it’s up us human we obey the order? we ignore the order? we don’t care about the order ? or we follow only our ancestors whither if they were wrong or right ?.... muslims don’t follow their ancestors we follow Islam and and prophets, and the one and only almighty God which is worthy of worship. لااله الا الله محمد رسول الله there is no God but Allah(God) and Mohammad is his servant, messenger like Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Adam.. etc....
surojeet chatterjee surojeet chatterjee it’s different from idol worship kaba is direction for muslims unity before kaba al-Aqsa mosque in Palestine was the direction place for muslims unity. And Allah command us muslims to face in one direction while worshiping. No Muslim worship Kaba even when kaba was full of idols at beginning of Islam so prophet Mohammad and his companions were facing toward Al-aqsa mosque. It doesn’t mean that muslims were worshiping mosque. Also back in the days when there was no technology the time for prayer call a person was climbing over Kaba to call for prayer, so how come we worship Kaba and at same time we stand over it with no respect under our feet? When people circle Kaba they recite loudly the oneness, praises to Allah not to Kaba. Black stone no body worship it. Only we muslims think that stone is special in this planet why because prophet Abraham the father of Abrahamic faith which is Zabor (David book), Judaism, Christianity, and last one Islam. So when Abraham was on construction of Kaba the angel brought him a stone from heaven, it has a message for us that stone when brought from heaven it was pure white color, by time it turned to black as prophet said “when the whiteness in this stone despairs that will be the sign for the day of judgement is close”. Omer one of companion of prophet Mohammad kissed the stone and said “this stone can not harm me nor benefit me, I only kissed it because prophet Mohammad kissed it”. About hand of Allah you mentioned nobody knows that God is in which form how big or small or how looks ?? Is it hand means like human hand or something else? All Humans is limited with this knowledge of God does he have shape? What kind of ????. Quran Surah shura “There is nothing that exist which is like him(Allah)”. Surah Ekhlas “No one is ever equivalent to him(Allah)”. Now who could we say that our hands looks like Allah’s hand. Look this is amazing when prophet said that “beyond seven heavens there is Arsh Kursi (throne of God) of god, if we it compare to this world’s for example the African Sahara desert will be the throne of Allah and the finger ring will be this world (planets, sky, galaxies)”. Prophet said nothing from him all from God that brought by angels to prophet. And there were logic, signs, miracles, gifted knowledges, righteousness, selflessness, prophecy about future that made people to believe in an educated shepherd person as a messenger of Allah(God).

History is written by the victor is the quote yet I find it more accurate to say that History is written by the victor but taught through the eyes of the beholder. In Poland, we are taught of the various things done to us yet we are rarely taught of the things we did. The polish Lithuanian commonwealth wasn't exactly a great deal for the Lithuanians. Volhynian Massacre? We weren't exactly nice to the Ukrainians prior to WW 1&2 either. Nor did we sit silently after the massacre, we pulled one of our own. To truly see the full painting, one must first open their eyes and realise the damn canvas is painted on both sides.
This is the problem of a history teacher, the documents we have to follow tend to be made by politicians and not historians. As such we don't have juridical justification to talk about some things. This has started to change, but very slowly and unevenly throughout the world (especially Europe). In sweden our history documents still have a "sweden = always good, never wrong" hint to it especially in lower class grades.
Conversly, Hungarians are mainly taught as being a major enemy, invader and oppressor in my country. It's funny and bizzarre seeing that they see themselves as somehow being victims.

The Bosnians simply could see that they were not the rulers in their own land, the catholic lands were controlled by the more prestigious catholics of the coast and the orthodox lands by the more prestigious orthodox close to and inside Serbia, so in the end the Ottomans and Islam were a chance for greater self determination to become prestigious. Thats the same thing that happened in Albania which was a land ruled by mostly foreign families since the roman times, so Islam was a way for the Albanian population to gain prestige and thats what pretty much happened in most if not all of the islamic empires expansion throughout history. Its interesting to see how the thing that helped Islam grow more was not the religion itself at many points but the other faiths
Albania is a bit different tho considering the man that brought together the albanians was a christian and also being albanian for many albanians comes before any religion. being proud of your culture is a more honorable thing than being religious even today. I cannot say for sure but considering his family legacy, Son of a famous Astronaut I would guess that by "Rare Earth" he refers to (one of) the Fermi Paradox solution(s) named just that. The Rare Earth hypothesis is that the cosmological development, the geological development of a planet and then the evolutionary circumstances of any life (particularly complex life) on a world needed to create an intelligent and technologically adept species is very rare. It doesn't exclude general life bearing worlds but it alludes to them being so rare at any given point in the age of the universe and very far apart. Mapping out our cultural foibles, achievements and atrocities on this "Rare Earth" fits as it puts us in our possible place in the universe and how unique parts of the world are and how unique our world might well be. @Saakshar Shah Thanks for your comment. In the teachings of Islam, we learn that if we hurt someone with our tongue, we have to face consequences for that as ALLAH will forgive us only after that person accept our apology. If he don't then on the day of judgement, ALLAH will give our good deeds to him and in case if i am already an evil person and i don't earn good deeds in my life. ALLAH will give the other person bad deeds to me. So, i ll carry more bad deeds and serve more punishment in hellfire. Now imagine our religion prohibit us to hurt someone with our tongue yet some people kill. What would be their consequences.? And terrorism reason is politics. The first bomb dropped on Iraq, Syria etc was the moment when US and European Countries breached their own security. US and west killed many families. The remaining members whose entire family is dead cant afford fighting jets to return the favor so they go as themselves. Kindly condemn dropping missile as well and choose govt. who makes better foreign policy. There is a cause and effect relationship. Missiles see no difference between innocents and the culprits and people lose motivation to live when all their family member dies by a missile. If you go to Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and ask their children. What is terrorism? They will say the flying jets over them dropping missiles and killing them is terrorism. The biggest terrorists of 21st century were George Bush and Tony Blair, etc. They killed millions of innocent people who were peacefully living in their home in their country. What they said while attacking Iraq also was false. But nobody will punish US govt. They destroy Iraq, steal their Gold, etc. And you think 🙏

It's the cold, hard truth that many of usin the west balkans have a hard time accepting.

As a Turk i find this video absolutely beneficial with details. Excatly no any nation change religion with open arms and gladly. Always there've strong reasons. Those century(1460s) Ottomans formed the army mutlinational from 22 diffirent nation soldiers and included with mostly muslims but also had Chirstian Turks(Gagauz, uz and Pechenek Turks) and Shaman Turk wariors(Deluler, bashibozuklar) Cause population was not enough as army need. Those days total empire population was 9-10 million people and only total 3-4 milion Turkish Population dominated empire and felt very big risk with this rate. Those century had almost the same count church and mosque in empire. So they found a way to unit the army and population with religion option and launched cizye(non-muslims task), After the conquest of Balkan, they conguered middle east, arabian peninsula and Nord Africa Because they needed a large Muslim population to controll the empire and army. İn this period Balkan soldiers added to this army and they improved top positions in military command management. even as a Serbian Bayo Sokoloviç (sokulu pasha) became the second man in empire after Sultan.. I absolutly agree with the Hungarian friend who commented below, Countries have black and white pages in the past but they try to show only their white pages. Accusing each other without stopping is useless abouth history.. Because of such reosons we have to trust in impartial historicans and scientist rather than emotional .
Thank you for clearing this up. I noticed that this video is heavy on the bias. People walk away thinking they've been informed, but they've just adopted someone else's prejudice.
They practised Bogomilism introduced during the Bulgarian occupation which practices dualism and was against the Christian churches of East and West, and maybe that's why they were easier to accept Muslim religion because it didn't mean that have to choose sides which didn't accept them

yeah right, not too hard to administrate when as soon as one complaints you kill him as the Muhammadan policies proscribed, why you think that Christians that actually have experiential knowledge of islam hate it so much and want it do die.
lol, they could ''administrate'' because they betrayed Christianity during the Ottoman Empire, that was as good as not being a third class citizen or slave... so they simply had the right to administrate while other loyal and faithful (to christianity) balkan people didn't, so ofcourse they would be in a ''better'' position (we all know how that turned out). We can't pretend though that Christianity didn't play its role to that. Bosnia was unfortunately the border of the Catholics and Orthodoxes, the area was the literal symbol of the Great Schism and its blindless as well as violence, treated badly from both the Catholics and the Orthodoxes...no wonder why they started converting but still...from Christianity to Islam, that is a huge taboo when you are surrounded by christian countries.

Solid video, I would like to add that the Bosnian church was leaning heavily towards paganism. In the middle ages, Bosnia was not of great interest to either the Byzantine (orthodox), nor Western European Germanic (catholic) kingdoms (or maybe they did not have the resources to integrate Bosnia into their kingdoms). It was the Ottomans who were the first to devote significant resources to develop Bosnia (they established Sarajevo for example), they modernised Bosnia and it was in these circumstances that Bosnians converted to Islam - it was for the first time they were trully a part of a modern state and this was for the benefit of the Bosnians. No doubt the Ottomans "incentivised" the population to convert as well, but to say the conversion was a negative thing is not accurate. Ottomans indeed "filled a void". If the orthodox or catholic church really cared about Bosnia, devoted resources for its development and integrated it into the modern christian world of the middle ages, Islam would not stick, the same way it largely did not in Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece, where the orthodox church dominates despite centuries of Ottoman occupation. The only other mass conversion to Islam in the Balkans happened in Albania, probably for very similar reasons.
Both Bosnia and Albania were "backwaters" in the Middle Ages due to the mountainous terrain and the lack of good roads. It's not so much that the Catholic and Orthodox churches didn't care for the people. Rather the infrastructure just wasn't there to support any major development initiatives in these regions such as the development of a strong church organization. But when the Ottomans conquered these regions, they became part of the empire's European frontier zone. The Turks had the necessary incentive to invest a lot of resources into constructing roads capable of transporting troops and establishing fortified cities that could serve as military bases for both further expansion and defense against attacks from the neighboring Christian kingdoms. You said that, "The only other mass conversion to Islam in the Balkans happened in Albania, probably for very similar reasons." FYI, there was a third large scale conversion to Islam in Europe under Ottoman rule which occurred in the Rhodope Mountains which straddle modern Bulgaria and eastern Greece. To this day, there is still a large Muslim population descended from these converts in the northeastern part of Greece.
@George Nathanael well it's the fact that a lot of population of Bosnia converted, it's easy to kick out a few converts such is in Greece, Serbia, and Bulgaria.

Bosnians were not any less pagan than Gnostic Christians from Egypt or Syria. Zarathustra or Hinduism are not pagan religions. Study or look at videos such as those on "Na Rubu Znanosti" to learn about how the Vatican, Christian Orthodox and Islam all conspired to destroy what was local. Bogomils were not just in present day Bosnia, they were in all the Balkans, Ukraine, Italy, Spain. Bosnia was its center. We still have Bogomil expressions in my Croatian family. For example, Djeda Mraz (roughly translated to Father Christmas or Grandpa Frost) comesc from a tradition of a spiritual guide or guru in each village. "Bog su veli" refers to God in the plural. In the Old Testament there are at least 3 different names for god, Elohim and Yehovah being just two. This is seen in Spanish language, as well, with "Dios" referred to in singular, yet its form is in the plural. There is no region that understands the little games of conquest and mind control as the people in the Balkans do. To learn from this you need to read from historians that come from the region, not from London or the Vatican.

Rick K You forgot to mention one very important reason: conversion. Christians in muslim areas convert in numbers be it in Arabia or the UK. Speaking of UK, a recent survey shows 1 out of every 4 muslims in the UK are converts. There are 6 million muslims in UK an 25% are converts. Meanwhile, the church of England have lost over 5 million followings in the last decade.
That certainly played a big role in it, there was also over taxation, corruption and war exhaustion of both Byzantines and Persians. Add to that religious fanaticism and fighting/plundering expertise of Bedouin tribes.

Because they were the ones who decided religious matters in their empire, so they developed a good relationship with the Orthodox religion. In contrast the Bosnians (and also Egyptians for example), who were heretics, got tired of the religious persecution and thus were more susceptible to islamization and arabization. Their faith was forced on them, so they were never too much into it. The Greeks and Serbs were Orthodox by their own will, so they didn't want to abandon their faith even if that meant discrimination

Well the North Atlantic has been pushing that it is better to be in good terms with the Porte than the rest of the continent for some time and that’s pretty relevant to this day
Not really. A better example of pre-Protestantism would be the Moravian Church established by the Bohemian (Czech) reformer Jan Hus in the 15th century, decades before Martin Luther. But my understanding is that Bosnia was in pre-Ottoman times a borderland between Catholicism to the west and Orthodoxy to the east. Due to the mountainous terrain and the lack of good roads at the time that facilitate travel and communications, neither church was able to establish a strong foothold in Bosnia. So Christianity there developed along an independent track. It's perhaps more comparable to Celtic Christianity in the early Middle Ages, before normative Catholicism was able to become firmly established in Ireland and Scotland. The Medieval Bosnian church is not really "pre-Protestant" because it did not emerge out of a protest against an established Christian church, as did Lutheranism in Germany or the Moravian Church in Bohemia.
@MAGMK&W 20:114 Are there any reliable historical sources supporting your view that the Medieval Bosnian church preached that "there is only one God, and that Jesus was a messenger of God?" I'm no expert in Balkan history, but I do know that there is a lot of debate surrounding what the Bosnian church actually believed. Very little evidence about their beliefs and practices has survived to the present day, which is why modern opinions about the church vary so much. Some scholars think that the church was influenced by dualism/Bogomilism and others think it was an "orthodox" Trinitarian church that shared similar beliefs about God and Jesus with the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians, even though it was distinct from both. These seem to be the two main opinions in current Western scholarship.

@@spiceguy2408 Well I think it depends where you look. But I'll say that there are some Slovenes who look down upon other south Slavs that came to Slovenia (Most of them came to Slovenia during the 60s, 70s, and 80s I think) . I'd personally say that the people who dislike south Slavs are the kind of people who have problems in their heads or maybe they just had a bad encounter with someone from the "south" or simply can't show some kindness or they were just raised to "not like" people from the south. We even have an insult "name" or "word" for someone who moved to Slovenia from the south - "Čefur". In my opinion, some of the reasons they are disliked are that some Slovenes complain that they took their jobs, that they commit crimes, are uncultured, will erase Slovene culture, etc. Maybe even because they were afraid that there'll be more Bosnians, Serbs, Macedonians, and other nations in Slovenia than Slovenes in their own country. That said, there are plenty of Slovenes that have no trouble helping a fellow Slav in need and have no problem hanging out with them. Also, I must say I haven't met many Slovenes that would hate or insult other South Slavs (I'm 20). I also know a few Bosnians myself and even consider one my best friend.

At 5:28, saying that "non-muslims wouldn't be able to trade on the Ottoman trade networks". That's actually incorrect. The richest people on Ottoman lands had always been Jews, Armenians and Greeks. Some of them held important positions in the Imperial Council of Ottomans and got lands and mansions as gifts from Sultan. Some of them were merchants or craftsman and they built their own wealth. Eventually they controlled almost the entire economy in Constantinople, Anatolia and other regions while most of the muslim men either died at wars or had to leave their businesses and families to join the army. That was one of the reasons of economic collapse. Those non-muslims who didn't leave the country still own the most valuable mansions, buildings, etc. all around Istanbul.
Yes, but they traded on their own networks. Christians could trade with Christians, for example, and there were massive parts of the empire that remained Christian. It didn't mean that they weren't held back for being non-Muslim in other ways at other times in other instances, just that it didn't always work out that way for every person.
Bosnians had their own religion which was called Bosnian church which followed the original Bible before romans changed it It was super similar to Qur'an so they took Islam willingly

As a Bosnian, the story of the islamic converts gives wrong impressions. Bosnians converted because they were amazed by the tolerence and the religion itself. Bosnian church was pretty similar to islam, they even prayed 5 times a day. Bosniaks gave a lot fighting on the border against the austrians and stayed muslim up to this day. Also most Bosnians were agricultural anyways, if they really wanted economic benefits they would have accepted orthodox or catholic beliefs way before or betrayed ottomans when they had hard times. After all non catholics/orthodox were treated worse in christian countries than non muslims in ottoman empire. After barely surviving a crusade they didn’t ‘trade’ their beliefs. 5:50.
@@RareEarthSeries your video is about how Bosnia became muslim. You do give a very good introduction and aftermatch.

Only if you know how to look for it :-)
I cannot say for sure but considering his family legacy, Son of a famous Astronaut I would guess that by "Rare Earth" he refers to (one of) the Fermi Paradox solution(s) named just that.
Again, I have never seen them state this is the reason for the name of the series.

I'm sooo so happy this series is being made. For one reason or another, I've always been fascinated by European Muslims, from Bosniaks to Chechens, etc. I find Islam pretty fascinating as a whole, but something about white Muslim populations in a sea of Christianity always piques my interest.
Its because it should not exist but it does... things like that are always unique white european muslims are awesome especially their way of practicing islam is western, pro-european, and very secular...
Бојан Босански Змај What about Christian Arabs then? Do they also should not exist but they do? You know that there are also Christian Arabs, right, although Islam generally assumed to come from the Arab world? There are also White Buddhists too etc. Just because a particular religion is associated with a particular group of people, does not mean that it is impossible for other groups of people to embrace it if they are fascinated and convinced with its beautiful message and teachings.
@@sophie3howl why should christian arabs be more uniqe? arabs worshipped more gods than anybody before islam, and btw, christianity started with jesus (i think judea, not london or something, right??)
George Nathanael No, I’m not surprised at all. I know they exist. I met some of them. Didn’t you read what I wrote carefully? I said it first that no particular religion belongs to any particular group of people. So you can literally find any combination of religion (or non religion) with any kinds of people.
Best Best Didn’t you read what I wrote? “Islam is generally assumed to come from the Arab world”. Jesus Christ, these people.
“We were the most humiliated people on earth and God gave us honour through Islam. If we ever seek honour through anything else, God will humiliate us again.”

That's a false and fake translation, Umar ibn Al-Khattab said ""We are people whom God honored by Islam, for whatever we desire for glory in others, God humiliated us, God will debase us.", this is the closest translation I could get, Umar ibn Al-Khattab never said "We were the most humiliated people on earth" which is a complete and utter lie.

It truly breaks my heart when I think about how many vibrant, beautiful cultures were crushed under all forms of imperialism and domination. How simply existing at a border between great influences can devastate a culture's chances at forming and preserving an independent identity, or even an independent interpretation of the same doctrines.
We "should" not be afraid of others simply because we don't understand them. Being open or more curious about others and learning about them is not wrong. Celebrating our differences instead of trying to assimilate them is much more fun. Imagine how much more interesting this world might be - how fascinating, how RICH our world would be if we only learned to get along.

As a Turk i find this video absolutely
beneficial with details.
Because of such reosons we have to trust in impartial historicans and scientist rather than emotional .

yeah right, not too hard to administrate when as soon as one complaints you kill him as the Muhammadan policies proscribed, why you think that Christians that actually have experiential knowledge of islam hate it so much and want it do die.
@@davorfisic9626 You said if anyone complaints they will kill them as per Muhammadan policies. Can you provide the source of your allegations?
lol, they could ''administrate'' because they betrayed Christianity during the Ottoman Empire, that was as good as not being a third class citizen or slave... so they simply had the right to administrate while other loyal and faithful (to christianity) balkan people didn't, so ofcourse they would be in a ''better'' position (we all know how that turned out).

The writing on this episode was top-notch.
Really, you have a tremendous talent.

Because they were the ones who decided religious matters in their empire, so they developed a good relationship with the Orthodox religion. In contrast the Bosnians (and also Egyptians for example), who were heretics, got tired of the religious persecution and thus were more susceptible to islamization and arabization. So basically Bosnia is one of those "pre-protestant" countries?
Quite like, if the Ottomans didn't came earlier, Bosnia would be a hotbed of protestantism.
You're right. If you would like to know more, read about Bogomils, Cathar and the connection between Bosnia and the Albigensian Crusade in Languedoc / Occitaine.

How are Bosnians or other Balkan people seen in Slovenia

Well to be fair it is much better for Slovenia to have immigrants from the same region as them rather then Africa and the Middle East. However I do think too much will be bad for Slovenia at the end of the day, but it's nice to hear that

Your knowledge on the balkans and former yugoslav republics and its history is incredible thank you for making such an informative video... also during the ottoman conquest there were many other slavic people helping in the defense there is a poem from 1450 by croatian poet marko marulic called "molitva suprotiv turkom" roughly translated "strugle against the turk" in which he named the following ethnic nations that helped in the defense "Boj su bili š njimi Harvati, Bošnjaci,Garci ter Latini, Sarbli ter Poljaci." Greetings from Bosnia!

@@tommyboy6871 whats bs?
@@Untrus bs is that he told you the truth, bs is his avoiding of the facts, bs is his interpretation of Bosnian history.
to start with, you can conclude from his story that there was such thing as Bosnian/bosniack identity in medieval age. bs is that kings and nobility didn't have Serbian identity,...
your praise of his work only shows that you don't know shit about Bosnian/Serbian history. I would understand your statement had it come from a non Yugoslav, or a croat or a muslim, but what you said as someone who lives in lands of ban kulin and Bosnian kings - that's nonsense.
do you know who were dragons and what they fought for?
@@tommyboy6871 i think ur full of bullshit i just named you a reference in my comment from 1400's where Bosniaks were mentioned as a specific nation with serbs and croats among others fighting against turks so wtf are you talking about
At 5:28, saying that "non-muslims wouldn't be able to trade on the Ottoman trade networks".
@@RareEarthSeries Thanks for the details
Bosnians were following a christianism where jesus isnt god nor son of god so it was islam
So what version of Bible that they followed before Islam came to them?
Bosnians had their own religion which was called Bosnian church which followed the original Bible before romans changed it
It was super similar to Qur'an so they took Islam willingly
Faez Mohtar bible of barnabas ..
@@muamerlogo20 they didnt take islam "willingly"

Bosnia looks really beautiful
Our history is honestly so complex that I didn't understand some parts of it. A problem would also be the biased version of history each side puts out. Also, these shots you took of Bosnia are beautiful. Can't wait for the second part.
athiesm well promoted a quick question if you say the bosnians were converted by force why there is still islam in bosnia lol
I think he explained it quite clearly. You had a choice, but if you chose not to, you had less power, access to business channels, and influence. It was same in Yugoslavia, you could practice your religion, or if you wanted to advance, you could down-play and hide your religious identity and rise from apparatchnik to politician.

I think ottomans were the only one who didn’t persecuted Bosnians
and this is one of the reasons why we bosnians accepted islam 600 years ago.
Bosnia was a principality in 822 and it grew out into a banate around 1000 and declared itself a kingdom 1377. Even the biggest early mediealevists from serbia aknowledge Bosnia to be a principality in the 9th century.
Read " on the beginnings of Bosnia " from prof. Dr. Tibor zivkovic. Most recognized serbian medievalist
If sellings religions is a hydra, one of his head's are Rare Earth.
how does that disagree with the video, would you say
@@RareEarthSeries your video is about how Bosnia became muslim. You do give a very good introduction and aftermatch. However the real topic is only a small part of the video and contains 1 explanation, the “passive opression”. This is not fair, given the fact that there are more (important) explanations of how Bosnians became muslim.
The point is that it now looks as if they converted for materialistic reasons, so as if they weren’t real muslims ... which is rude to say for people who actually practiced the religion and gave their lives in great numbers to help conquer Hungary and Croatia a few years later so that the religion spreads.
@@bosniak2042 If belief in the religion alone was the main drive they probably wouldn't have waited until they were conquered by a Muslim power and it became a positive social, political, and economic outlet to convert, I'd argue
