Systems Logic, Social Psychology, Culture Hacking, Nazis, Fascism, Politicizing art, Media representation of Immigration, Deportation, The Power of Belief, Identity Representation, Labor... That he packs so much information into so little time is one of the things I love about his personality. Oh, and I loved the personal details about his mom and the laundromat! Amazing.

I've been waiting for this one. Austin outside of Waypoint feels less stressed, overworked, and more freewheeling.

Really glad to have the talk, discussion, and the thoughtful Q+A archived for the public. Gives me a lot to think about... thanks for this!

Austin’s hero, Walter Benjamin was a coward who feigned illness to prevent conscription in a war murdering his own people. He had the health to start and create a family with a child but not the fortitude to take care of one and abandoned his wife and child to wax philosophical with dreamers during war time rather than take care of them. If he did not appreciate the art and aura of mechanical work such as photography, he sure as shit wouldn’t appreciate video games. He was a Marxist killjoy that appreciated the aura of art but when presented with a way to share it with the masses, reduced it to meaninglessness. He killed himself with morphine tablets under the threat of deportation and always quit when times were presented with any sort of challenge.

Or, to put it another way, Walter Benjamin was a Jewish guy who had issues with gambling, and he died in the Holocaust. There, fixed it for you.
