Janis was known as “The Pearl.” I am 69 years old and Janis was my favorite singer. Her voice still gives you chills. I was 16 the first time I heard her sing. KILLER!!!
My dad took me and my friend when we were 9 years old to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to see Janis Joplin live for a free concert... still remember how wonderful she was in her blue feather hat
I don't know how she could ever even perform more than one take of these songs on the same day. Joni is a songbird. Janis a screaming eagle. How she did it time and again is completely unreal.
Janis is my favorite singer! Queen Janis! Thank you for reacting to this icon whose life and talent was cut short. She is still teaching us decades later!
My Brother you get it! I'm an old guy, 67, and remember when sister Janis released this cut, blew me away, then and still does. She made me dry my eyes more than once, the voice finds that place for me, and jerks the water works! She sang from a place that only she understood and I'm so glad she shared herself with us! I read other comments and agree that you should react to Summertime. To all be well, safe, and peace to you and yours.
I love your reaction to Janis; she was like no one else before or since, just like you said. I was blessed to see her live and it was a life changing experience. Her voice and what you feel when she’s singing; it’s indescribable. God rest her soul.
IMHO, there ain't no other Janis. Never will be another Janis. She poured all the pain she experienced in her life and poured it into every song. She was courageous enough to bare her soul for all to see and made us feel it. That was her gift to the world.
I have been listening to Janis from the beginning and still tear up when i listen now. There is and never will be another Janis. She was so good , it hurts. Great reaction btw
I love how you say you've never "experienced" another artist like her, and I think that's such a good saying. A lot of artists you listen to, Janis is definitely one that you experience.
Oh my Chod, the one and only Janis Joplin is greatness and soul and so is Joni Mitchell. They have two very different styles of greatness that works only for them. Please try Summertime or Move Over for your next set of chills from Janis. Thanks for this memory.
Janis, Joni and Stevie Nicks. All my favorites but no way in the same box! Janis LIVED the pain in her songs. A meteor on fire that burned out too soon.
I've been waiting for you to react to this one, is my absolute favorite song by her and I get goosebumps each and every single time I hear it and to watch your reaction was just awesome to see it for the first time through your ears. Thank you! Joni Mitchell and Janis are different but equally GREAT
Thank you!!!! I love that you don't interrupt or talk over the singers. Janis IS my favorite. I love soul, blues and jazz. The tenor sax is my favorite instrument then the horns and piano. Check out Angelina Jordan. Just Google her. The best 1st reaction will be "I Put A Spell On You", the black and white version. She's 9 years old. She will blow your mind. That's a promise!
THIS!!! whenever someone reacts to janis, i recommen THIS song. (of course no one listens, but ;O). awesome. Thank you ! yeah....i think if you don't feel this, you should probably check your pulse. incredible. and...i agree. there is no 'new janis. next janis'. there are many great singers, but janis is janis. period. as for her and Joni...also agree....two FANtastiC singers. not comparable on any level . but as good as it gets at what they do. so what do ya do ? some days ya feel like steak, some days ya feel like lobster. enjoy the hell outta both when the mood hits! great reactions man. peace
"Pearl" is Janis's magnum opus to her short career. It's a beautiful compilation of what made her the remarkable artist she was. Give the whole album a listen. If it don't move you...then, well...you don't have a pulse 😀
I agree Summertime does really showcase just how amazing Janis’ voice truly was. Mercedes Benz the a cappella version is a must. Ball and Chain live from Monterey Pop Festival. Just a few that are must reactions.
She's very good. There are still some real character voices out there, and Beth Hart is one of them. In the past, especially the singers born from the 40s, to the 60s, the singers had so much personality, its harder to find now but its still there.
Ok it seems like you like vocalists- especially great female vocalists ie. Janis and Joanie. check out Imelda May. Lots of great tunes - "walking in the sand" accompanied by jeff beck- is very nice. Also a great version of tainted Love, Johnnys Got a Boom Boom. Lots more
EVA CASSIDY is in your future. Any song from Song bird album is amazing. Obviously somewhere over the rainbow will leave you speechless. She is an angle in heaven now. Peace out
Cry Baby is one of all time favorites, and I loved your reaction ❤ Janice Joplin was a great and I don't usually compare anyone to her, many have tried and failed. However I came across a singer from The Voice Australia, Karise Eden (in my opinion) she is as close as they come to Janice.
I still get cold chills every time I hear her sing this.....I don’t think you can compare either one in the same slot because their style was so different. If was making the call though, Janis would win hands down every single time..
All too sadly Janis was an early member of the 27 Club. Thank goodness she left us with some unbelievable recordings! For Janis you want to react to Summertime and for Joni you want to look for Carey. Two great vocalists, though completely different from one another!
What do we all have to do, Chod, to get you to react to Beth Hart, I’d Rather Go Blind? I’ve seen it requested on here a dozen times.....If you don’t want to do it, just say so and we’ll stop requesting it.
Agree that I'd Rather Go Blind is the best cover of that song since Etta James herself. But I think Beth Hart really channels Janis in Am I The One live at Paradiso. Never seen a performance come closer to Janis than that one!
Janis was known as “The Pearl.” I am 69 years old and Janis was my favorite singer. Her voice still gives you chills. I was 16 the first time I heard her sing. KILLER!!!
There is nobody like Janis! She is the Queen
Agree on Summertime....She makes it hers.
My dad took me and my friend when we were 9 years old to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to see Janis Joplin live for a free concert... still remember how wonderful she was in her blue feather hat
A bright star that flamed out to soon
I don't know how she could ever even perform more than one take of these songs on the same day. Joni is a songbird. Janis a screaming eagle. How she did it time and again is completely unreal.
🤣👍👏❤❤

And watching her in person was phenomenal. I miss her so.
Nobody in the entire world sounds like her and nobody ever will......greatness at its best!!!!!!!
I enjoy your reactions to Janis. I agree. That woman just had pure emotion in every note she sang. Just so good.
There isn’t now or will there ever be another Janis...you are absolutely 100% correct on that!
Team Janis
Janis Joplin Work Me Lord Live in Stockholm 1969. Check it out, you won't regret it.
"Piece of my Heart"is a must!!
Summertime by her from the Cheap Thrills album.......no one has EVER sung like it!
I Agree!
My brother you are so right, she was the one and only. Be well, safe and peace to you and yours.
@@maf5454 Peace
Janis Joplin in her short life was a great blues singer. She sang from her gut and soul. RIP
Can't swipe that smile off his face. Sheer bliss
I love your reaction to Janis; she was like no one else before or since, just like you said. I was blessed to see her live and it was a life changing experience. Her voice and what you feel when she’s singing; it’s indescribable. God rest her soul.
"Piece of My Heart" should be next.
If your gonna do Janis you gotta do Piece Of My Heart ! absolutely a must
I love how you say you've never "experienced" another artist like her, and I think that's such a good saying. A lot of artists you listen to, Janis is definitely one that you experience.
She always makes me cry❤️
It's all music...no matter the "genre"...I love sso many different artists that are alike only in their genius artistry.
Oh my Chod, the one and only Janis Joplin is greatness and soul and so is Joni Mitchell. They have two very different styles of greatness that works only for them. Please try Summertime or Move Over for your next set of chills from Janis. Thanks for this memory.
I had only know two songs from her, before watching reactions. Glad you dive deeper into her music.
This is one of my favorite Janis songs!
People took Janis for granted for many years but it seems like she is being discovered again
Janis, Joni and Stevie Nicks. All my favorites but no way in the same box! Janis LIVED the pain in her songs. A meteor on fire that burned out too soon.
I’m feeling it also Janis is all alone the greatest
Summertime
(And we all cry for our little girl lost.
We'll never have another Pearl)
I bought this vynal the day it hit the shelves and still have it. One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!
Another great job Chod! Knocked it out of the park! Bless Janis, there will never be another.
I've been waiting for you to react to this one, is my absolute favorite song by her and I get goosebumps each and every single time I hear it and to watch your reaction was just awesome to see it for the first time through your ears. Thank you! Joni Mitchell and Janis are different but equally GREAT
You're so right about these two songbirds -- Janis and Joni! Both unique and one of a kind.
She was one of a kind
Thank you for your reactions to The Legend Janice
“Ball and Chain” at the Monterey Pop Festival. Absolutely amazing!
One of my favs of Janis the queen of soul is this one
Move Over, on this album, is good.
She finished up this album , and overdosed just a few days later . WE MISS YOU , JANIS !
And all this and dead at 27. Let that sink in.
Her cover of Little Girl Blues is a must listen.
Pure magic pure soul
Thank you Wilburn, for your honest reaction.
THIS!!! whenever someone reacts to janis, i recommen THIS song. (of course no one listens, but ;O). awesome. Thank you ! yeah....i think if you don't feel this, you should probably check your pulse. incredible. and...i agree. there is no 'new janis. next janis'. there are many great singers, but janis is janis. period. as for her and Joni...also agree....two FANtastiC singers. not comparable on any level . but as good as it gets at what they do. so what do ya do ? some days ya feel like steak, some days ya feel like lobster. enjoy the hell outta both when the mood hits! great reactions man. peace
One of my very favorite Joplin songs. Love her vocals in this song!
again: your reactions are awesome, you don't stop the music to talk shit, you respect the music, thanks!
She was phenomenal
Goosebumps from the first note
"Pearl" is Janis's magnum opus to her short career. It's a beautiful compilation of what made her the remarkable artist she was. Give the whole album a listen. If it don't move you...then, well...you don't have a pulse 😀
React to “Little girl blue” and “Kosmic Blues” Agree on “Maybe”
She was Amazing!!
janis "maybe" live
Powder Keg that girl was amazing..............
Have you heard Annie Lennox yet? She's still another style. She's got the voice. And Joanie Mitchell, have you discovered her lower register yet?
I had a brief conversation with Janis. Great engaging and friendly personality..
Whatcha y'all talk about if u don't mind me asking. I've always adored this lady queen of soul
I agree Summertime does really showcase just how amazing Janis’ voice truly was. Mercedes Benz the a cappella version is a must. Ball and Chain live from Monterey Pop Festival. Just a few that are must reactions.
Janis was the best! She still is!
Sean,you’re terrific,keep it up
Her classic is Take Another Little Bit of My Heart - from Cheap Thrills
THANK YOU FOR THIS
Amazing talent
A voice like a chainsaw straight through your heart!
Summertime - awesome
Have you reacted to her live performance of Ball and Chain at Monterey Pop festival? A must see
My favorite
When people who couldn't sing ... didn't
You called it!
No comparison! Janis rules hands down. Her rendition of Summertime is the greatest ever.
Summertime!!
Now you're talking. Love the whole Pearl album. Check out Mercedes Benz, it's a hoot!!
Beth Hart singing Caught out in the Rain at Royal Albert Hall 2018. You won't regret it.
She's very good. There are still some real character voices out there, and Beth Hart is one of them. In the past, especially the singers born from the 40s, to the 60s, the singers had so much personality, its harder to find now but its still there.
You shoud check out "Maybe" album or live version :)
Lots more
If you can, a short but great songlet from her is Mercedes-benz. I think it was one of her last before she was gone.
EVA CASSIDY is in your future. Any song from Song bird album is amazing. Obviously somewhere over the rainbow will leave you speechless. She is an angle in heaven now. Peace out
I forgot Wade in the water off songbird album has ORGAN screaming.
I agree. Great album. Granted it has been a long time since I listened to it.
Try "Turtle Blues" by her for some raunchy fun.
Mu fave song of hers...
All too sadly Janis was an early member of the 27 Club. Thank goodness she left us with some unbelievable recordings! For Janis you want to react to Summertime and for Joni you want to look for Carey. Two great vocalists, though completely different from one another!
Nice site. for a back ground put a BEE Flying around your yellow records. Be like a bee hive
Try "Call on Me" or "Blindman" or "Show Me the Way" from her early Big Brother days. Happy New Year Brother.
Do LITTLE GIRL BLUE, TRY, KOZMIC BLUES and BALL AND CHAIN PLEASE for this 70 year old JOPLIN fan.
Love your channel so much! Have you done the Radiohead Creep cover by Post Modern Jukebox? 🔥
Can I request Turtle Blues. JJ and a piano simple and almost a biopic of her life.
I like that you don’t pause songs
She's good if you like this sort of thing.
Please react to.. Maybe...it was written by, or for the BeeGees. But her rendition, just, Wow!
Give " A Woman Left Lonely" a listen.
She moves me
The four "thumbs down" must have voted from the grave!!!!!!!
There isn't a female singer out today that comes close to Janis Joplin, they are all Pretenders!!!!
In the opening moments, I honestly thought you were going to have to break your own rules and pause because it was too much. She's a treasure.
What do we all have to do, Chod, to get you to react to Beth Hart, I’d Rather Go Blind? I’ve seen it requested on here a dozen times.....If you don’t want to do it, just say so and we’ll stop requesting it.
I always loved Janis, but Beth Hart takes it to a much higher level.
Make sure you select Beth Hart Joe Bonamassa live in Amsterdam for the I’d rather go blind selection. You won’t be disappointed.
Agree that I'd Rather Go Blind is the best cover of that song since Etta James herself. But I think Beth Hart really channels Janis in Am I The One live at Paradiso. Never seen a performance come closer to Janis than that one!
THIS IS A COVER OF A GARNETT MIMMS RECORDING 1964 OR 65 GREAT JOB 👍 🤔
