Yes, you can have sections without a horizontal curve, which can be called a "tangent". In these sections, the radius is essentially infinite (though in practice, no road is perfectly straight).

A recent video I posted shows three common perspectives - plan, profile, and cross-section. The profile view allows you to see the vertical alignment. Yes, you can have sections without a horizontal curve, which can be called a "tangent". In these sections, the radius is essentially infinite (though in practice, no road is perfectly straight).

i don't get the point of vertical curve and horizontal curve prospective when we see vertical and when horiz.
A recent video I posted shows three common perspectives - plan, profile, and cross-section. The profile view allows you to see the vertical alignment. In the video, I discuss how the example shows a flat vertical alignment (0% grade), but it could be a positive, negative, or even a vertical curve in combination with the horizontal curve.

To the extent possible, they generally are (the shortest path is always a straight line) - however, many things may need to be avoided, including: homes, water (lakes, rivers, creeks....), forests, mountains, businesses, etc.
