Such a great video Rami! I loved this one and knew you'd test this thing to the max! I loved the game lineup, and was blown away by the fact that you maxed out HL2 in 1280x1024 on this card! GTA ran really well too! For an AGP card, this is just such an impressive card, and I am blown away by the image quality. The X800 in this Dell really pushed this thing pretty far--Morrowind definitely ran better than I thought it would, and Oblivion definitely seemed rougher than I would've thought! What a JOKE those recommended requirements were haha! F.E.A.R ran really well too, and the I loved that you showed the Source Ports! Not many people test these, and they ran dang well! Thanks again for all your hard work man! This was a blast!

I forgot to mention a few important things too, like the fact that you can install GOG games and I also missed an opportunity to show other multimedia features. And I was also blown away by the Half-Life 2 performance. That game was just so well optimized for how well it looked, truly an anomaly of a game, and it's one of the reasons I love it haha
Great video my friend, I'm glad you got your two cents about the x800 out there! I actually have an x800 pci-e, I had no idea it was rare, I really thought the agp was harder to find, interesting! Great review! I have a single X800 XL in AGP and a X300 SE, which is PCI-E. I have a substantial collection of GPU's from the 90's and 2000's. Didn't even know there was a GPU month thing going. With chip shortages, it might become a GPU year. Maybe I should join in. I've got about a dozen Radeons in the collection, but they always sat on the shelf. Never been used (by me at least). Never been an ATI guy, but never hesitated to accept a card donation, if one was available.
LOL I have one of those X800 XL cards in my Windows 98(se) project PC. IIRC the X800 XL had more in common with the X850 die because it had more pipelines but was on lower clocks. I'm more surprised that the final Catalyst driver for Windows 9x (6.2) actually has reasonably good support for the X800 series and X850 for that matter. And, yeah, your Pentium 4 Dell isn't doing it any favors. but compared to my past experience with Dells of that same vintage, I'm surprised yours even accepted a GPU upgrade at all. Mine refused to work with anything but its onboard video even though it had an AGP slot.
Back in the day I had an emachines "gaming PC" It was sold like that, it had a rebate in a AMD x700 pro, but instead I got the ATI x800xl. It was an good rig for the money, it had the ATI xpress 200 chipset, with a 16 lane PCI express, SATA ports and a 300 watt power supply (at the time that tech was brand new SATA and PCI express) the Mobo had a 939 AMD socket with a Athlon 64 3200+ I added 512 mb of RAM that added up to a huge 1 gb of DDR 400 dual channel memory, I also had the same sound card as you, the awesome creative audigy zs2 and an ATI tv tuner card with video and audio I/O one r/rw stock DVD drive and a what I think was a 54x CDR drive, and a 16 in 1 memory card reader. Later on I updated the CPU to a Athlon 64 dual core, the very first gen dual cpu I think it was a 3800+, those things were expensive as hell and I wanted to save money to buy a ATI x1800 but I never got to buy one. Quitted PC gaming for a while, there where only bad PC ports of 360 games.I forgot, I had windows XP 32 bit. Real nice video!
That's an awesome system! Those 939 Athlons were awesome CPUs! Definitely a lot better than the Pentium 4 I was using here. And yes the Audigy 2zs is an awesome sound card, I really like the way it sounds. I am still very fond of this era of PCs and games, those were good times. Thanks for watching!
@@jikissgamer yeah that’s the tricky part. I used an Epox EP-3PTA which didn’t list it as compatible but luckily worked just fine. Not easy finding the right boards! Just picked up one at the goodwill outlet for about $2. X800gto 256mb pci x16.. It has a Ac5 silencer on it that is filled with dust, the fan has some noise to it. I am going to clean it up and see if I bring it back to life.

Low end workstations got the x300, while the high end stuff got the FireGL, which in truth was just little more than the desktop x300/x600/x800 with optimized drivers. If I recall correctly, either the FireGL 5000 or 5100 was the "workstation" version of the x800
That's really cool I did not know that. Yeah it definitely looks like something that would have been in a workstation since a lot of gaming cards were more flashy. I would love to try the FireGL sometime too and see how it compares.

Man, I had an X1300 256MB card when I was like 12 or so. It barely ran anything, but I still beat Doom 3 on it at about 20fps low settings (yeah, even in 2012, I still couldn't run Doom 3 lol). I kept it for the longest time, but it's long gone now. It's really interesting to see the difference between that card and this when it comes to playing Doom 3, simply because this absolutely tramples it when it comes to performance. I guess that makes sense since this was a high-end card and that 1300 was a very low-end card, but still.
Yeah it is really interesting to see how much of a difference in performance it was back then between the two cards. Technology was improving so much faster then than now, such a different time. Back in those days I actually had a Radeon 9200se and that thing was total junk haha. But I did beat Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 on it.
Nice video. Are you using Pentium 4 HT? If it's the case I wonder if you left it on or turned it off because it might affect (to the better or to the worse, depending on game) the performance. Also you might had a forced framerate cap on GTA:SA. Usually when you look into a closed-space area (like the garage) the framerate should go higher but in your video its still locked at 25 regardless of area. I know it from my experience with my old PC (P4 2.6GHz Northwood core w.o HT, and Geforce FX5600), the game ran about the same but with a bit higher performance when it had to render closed spaces.
GTA:SA runs like that cause the phyiscs are tied to the engine, if you turn off the frame limiter it will run alot faster, but you start getting physics bugs.
I seriously miss GPU style from the late 90s and early 2000's. The artwork and boxes. So much personality. Loved the GPU tech demos like Gargoyle 9800 and Ruby
Hello Can you test GTA San Andreas without framelimiter? I'm intresting how much fps you get with X800 XL and Pentium 4 2,8GHZ 1GB Ram. Because I have Radeon X800 XL too but in PCI Express 256MB and Pentium 4 560 (3,6GHZ) I have noticed that GTA San ANdreas wasn't optimized well for the PC becasue if I set all amxed out with 3xAA than the games lags on some places where many shadows and grasses even with this system with X(00 XL the fps drops down 20-25 fps. if i set the FX Quality to low nothing laggs anymore. Shadow and grasses costs so much power... The fps don't get highetr than 50 fps even if i play with lower resolution and low details its strange like limitation....
Definitely, I made a huge mistake and left the limiter and Vsync on in this video. I will go back and try it again without the limiter and see how it runs.
@@jikissgamer thank you, i want to compare if you have same problems as me because the laggs in some places especially in Los Santos in Big Smokes area and near CJ's area but also in plaxes where many forests and shadows.
Keep up! Love your content!
Thank you so much!
Do you have a Ati Radeon x850xt AGP You’d be willing to sell?
I'm jealous you have SH3 for the PC!
You can get it for free from the internet archive! The beauty of abandonware haha 👌
@@jikissgamer F'ing epic! Already downloading it. This was my first SH game, so it'll always have a special palce in my heart.
@@Conroe it's such a great game! Probably my favorite horror game of all time! Enjoy!
I miss Ruby...
I seriously miss GPU style from the late 90s and early 2000's. The artwork and boxes. So much personality. Loved the GPU tech demos like Gargoyle 9800 and Ruby
It was such a great time for PC games. The hardware was so exciting and improving so fast.
Hello Can you test GTA San Andreas without framelimiter? I'm intresting how much fps you get with X800 XL and Pentium 4 2,8GHZ 1GB Ram.
Because I have Radeon X800 XL too but in PCI Express 256MB and Pentium 4 560 (3,6GHZ)
I have noticed that GTA San ANdreas wasn't optimized well for the PC becasue if I set all amxed out with 3xAA than the games lags on some places where many shadows and grasses even with this system with X(00 XL the fps drops down 20-25 fps.
if i set the FX Quality to low nothing laggs anymore.
Its strange because I had a friend who had owned a Geforce 6600GT and he could play GTA SAN ANdreas maxed out absolutely smooth no laggs its strange... and on my both PC's P4 3,6 GHZ and Dual Core Pentium D 830 it stil have frame drops...
But i had noticed similar proble on my old Retro PC Pentium 3 667MHZ if I refresh the HDD and install WIndows new than games like Deues EX runs much bader... now i have frame drops and the framrate don't goes so high even if I reduce the resolution and effects....
But most game runs like it should be. In Hitman Codename 47 I get now graphic glitches with textures.... before it wasn't any texture glitches. Strange... it should be something with WInodws? Or direct X Problems? ruclips.net/video/jAGYffh2MKU/видео.html
@@jikissgamer I want to know if you get frame drops too if you play maxed out with 3xAA with FX quality Very High because it drops so much... its strange and my friend had a Geforc e6600Gt and he hasn't issues no lags with max quality strange. This remember me like the old game Deus EX i have refresh Windows XP and then Deus EX have frame drops before itw as always smooth.
@@retro4fun358 Thanks for reminding me! I've been meaning to try it again but haven't got around to hooking up the PC yet. Will do it sometime this week hopefully!
@@jikissgamer i have asked a lot of people but nobody knows why this framedrops are coming.. maybe you can help me. It could be that its a windows issue because of updates or Direct X problems.... i don't know other game sruns good but a couple of games not...
It was a rather nice video, perhaps an Athlon xp would've given a better performance
Dude I was running San Andreas PC on my 9800Pro and I had silky smooth framerate and Same with Half-Life 2. Something is not right with the game or the card. They should run perfectly.
I think it might be that I had the frame limiter enabled. Either that or the CPU im using is holding it back. I really should have used an Athlon 64
ehm, looks like you have VSYNC ON...
Indeed. I had it on because I dislike screen tearing, but I definitely should have had it off for this demonstration.
@@jikissgamer yep, it makes kind of pointless the benchmarks, but still nice to see some action on X800, have nice memories of my Pro VIVO @ 16p playing FarCry and HalfLife 2
@@framebuffer.10 yeah I decided I'm gonna delete or at least unlist this video because it's so bad haha. I just wasted everyone's time who watched it and I feel bad.
@@jikissgamer no need to feel bad, you simply did a mistake that can happen; maybe you can make a sticky comment informing that the results are influenced by vsync.
What "concerns" me is that I see pretty often mistakes or wrong statements in videos (in channels much bigger and famous than yours), then I read the comments and everyone is cheering how the video was good and this confuses me a lot, I really don't want to be that guy that always points out the issues but at the same time I believe that constructive critics are key to improve and grow. Unconditional support is nice but also dangerous because you don't understand if you are doing well or not; it's like asking your mom if you look good...
Also not all the creators are honest and nice as you, many are very annoyed by anything different than compliments
@@framebuffer.10Thanks! I completely agree. And I really appreciate the criticism. More creators should be able to accept criticism too and to understand that it isn't coming from bad intentions. It's very helpful to know what we did wrong so that we can make sure not to do it again in the future.
you have to Play Boiling Point road to hell it runs like crap even with Radeon X 800XL card can't handle this game by 1280x1024 3xAA and Maximum Details its lagging so much...
On my other PC System Core 2Duo E5400 3GB DDR2 Ram and Geforce 9800 GT it runs well. This game came out in spring 2005 and strees the Pentium 4 and the X 800 High End cards so much....
Half of the games you are showing have nothing to do with GPU performance.
You show off x800 pro in your thumbnail but you test on x800 xl. The x800 XL is a more powerful card than the pro so your kinda false advertising. I saw x800 pro in the image but I get benchmarks for an XL. Wish you had actually benchmarked the pro.
You're right. My mistake.
i just bought one of these. its going in my macintosh g4 quicksilver. agp. its a pro that im going to change to a xt
Very nice! It's such a good card. Those old school macs were really cool, I want to find one someday.
they are all over. easy to find. im working on modding the crap out of this one@@jikissgamer
