Think u guys are looking in the wrong places lol.. here is a tip, if you need to pay your girlfriend or her family, she is an employee, not a partner 😊
I think Sam does have a valid point though especially number 2. , if you are wanting to date a Thai AND they have a kid, there is an expectation that she provides for the kid, that kid is usually with the girls parents in some far away field, the girl works in what ever industry they choose, if you are wanting to date the girl, and possible more correctly have their time, it they are with you they are not working. Now do I think people should be paying bar fines and hookers, no not all all, there is no need to do that. but you can't deny that in Thailand their is a huge imbalance in wealth, If I was dating a nurse, I would pay for things as in reality I earn more a month than she does in a year, it is just a fact. The trick is however, and just my opinion here, is not being treated like a walking ATM. Depends what you feel comfortable with, and what you can afford as well, I know a Aussie guy that works here, earns about 300k baht a month and dating a uni student, he chooses to give her money, as she would be working in her free time, your company alone won't pay the rent or pay their bills. Is it a good idea to? that is subjective to the individual, I am sure if your girlfriend, wasn't working or couldn't go away for the weekend ever because they work you would either find another one or pay for it
Dowry is not mandatory, let me say it again, Dowry is not mandatory, it is a Thai tradition, if anyone is feeling pressured to spend a certain amount for dowry, it is a red flag and it is for you to proceed properly, also, plenty of single women in Pattaya, hospitals, restaurants, shopping centers, gyms, etc. And, you don't need to pay your girlfriend, but! IF you get with a woman who takes care of her whole family, and she is the sole provider, use common sense and understand that is not gonna change, and you will be expect it to help out, choose carefully, and again, common sense goes a long way! Great video bro.
Nice video mate. I'm surprised at how clear the water is at the beach. I was in Pratumnak last November and unfortunately the water was a bit murky when I was there.
One thing that is different about Thailand is that often the older people have better grasp of English. Lots of Thais in their 30s and 40s have been teaching themselves English because they've realised how useful it is.
Good luck with your search. Be patient and don't let your need for companionship drive you into a toxic relationship. As we say in France, mieux vaut être seul que mal accompagné (better being alone than in bad company).
Go explore Thailand, Pattaya is a playground not saying you can’t find love there as many people have, but there are plenty of single women in Thailand looking for a good relationship without the financial ties. I’m married to a Thai for 18 years and we met online and still happy so there is hope for you Sam! You should do more content on it ‘finding love in Thailand’ I think it will be a good watch👍
I don't live there, but I met a few gems when I was there. They exist. Many working in skilled based jobs such as cooks, hotel management, etc.. They aren't all working girls there. There are a quarter of a million people living full time in Patts, and that's not all bar ladies.
hey this is a well made video... nice to see an Aussie living their best life. I lived in Korea for about 6 years as an English teacher. a lot of my colleagues seemed to end up with stunning wives or girlfriends and me nothing. I was even better looking than most of them...could never work it out? you know what they say about a faint heart never won a fair lady... maybe that had something to do with it. there is another Aussie in Hwa Hin called Johnny who seems to have ended up with an absolute dream boat. maybe you should ask him for some advice. But he's actually a pretty good looking bloke himself.
Just so you know, the vast majority of Thais learn many years of English throughout K-12 schooling, but very few can speak it well. They do very little conversation practice and just focus on reading and writing. However the way Thai education works, even this doesn't lead to any real understanding of English (in most cases) as they just learn what they have to for the next exam and forget it straight afterwards. There is a massive focus on "getting the right answer" rather than developing an understanding. F.Y.I I'm a teacher who taught in Thailand for 7 years. I.M.O it's SUPER important to learn Thai if you want to live in Thailand a long time, and especially if you want to broaden your dating opportunities outside of the girlie bar scene.
Great response. yes English is taught in schools but it is through rote learning and is all about spelling and grammar and not conversational English. Interestingly, university entrance is through a written rather than an oral exam.
Well said, and I must agree. I will return to Pattaya in March, but finding a gf is not high on my list. Maybe one day when I spend 6 months of the year there.
lol - Pattaya definitely has some interesting types... Certainly it's the culture there which keeps most people more calm in comparison to other cultures around the world but the amount of 'broken' people around is sadly more than most would think... I love my place in Jomtien because it's quiet, has good cheap food options, a nice flat walking/cycling area (outside of construction times), great sunsets and weather....but good friends are rare, especially on my 4-6 week stays there... A good partner (not looking - already have in Aus) would be rare... Interestingly I think you invited my Aussie mate/colleague to a party a couple of months ago at your place! Turns out from the same suburban area as Sam! He was making use of my place there...

Try looking for something a little bit older, like up to 40 with no kids and is educated with a normal 9-5. My experience is that these women exercise and take care of themselves, have accepted that they won’t have kids or just don’t want them, and are not looking for the most handsome, but rather the most loyal and fun. When I met my gf, soon to be wife, she was 37 and now 39, has an accounting degree, works 9-5 with weekends off, kids is optional, still looks very young, is an amazing cook, body count of 2, and is like I believe to be like most Thai women, very sweet, loving, patient and caring. She is, by far, the best woman I’ve ever met. I used Thai friendly, took my time to get to know about her and her family, set boundaries, and went with the flow. Is our relationship perfect? Sorry Sam, but poor video today. I like your stuff but this was a big miss. Talk about fishing in the wrong pond!! Pattaya and girlfriend just don't go in the same sentence. Party place where women want to max out the opportunity with farang holidaymakers - and why blame them? You say they don't speak good enough English - learn Thai! You're in their country, as am I. Have lessons and stand out from the other farang. Make the effort. You're better than this.
@@mattpiper7895 appreciate the ongoing support. Alas, after 5 weeks back in Oz, I have to get the wheels turning again. Best way to do it is to talk about females
@@GoneAdrift you have to feed the algorithm I suppose but it wasn't anything new - I really liked your trip on the motorbike trip. That was interesting and very human. This one you actually asked Mac for his advice on women??? TWF??
It is common for people to say "learn the language" to immigrants or expats but I think they fail to acknowledge how different it is to say that to someone in Colombia, Germany, or Japan vs someone in Thailand/Cambodia. Thais might as well be outright HOSTILE to Thai learners in a way completely unlike anywhere else in the world. I don't speak any German for example, and I've spent less than 200 hours studying the language, but amazingly when i go to do shopping or get coffee I understand what they say to me. That's because it's a supportive environment, they actually DO speak to me. I studied over 2000 hours of Thai, and in my most recent 90 days trip in Thailand no one ever said anything to me in Thai. They're total assholes, the Thais, very arrogant and self-centered. I realize you can't call it racist, because they will even do this to a South Korean for example - forcing the English language on him whether or not he speaks it.
@@parasitius Well I think it boils down to history. Unlike Cambo, Vietnam, Laos, there’s never been a Spanish / French / British / Dutch occupation here, so Thailand has been able to retain it’s roots which is probably why it’s so very special. We take the good with the bad. In the scheme of things it’s only a mere needle skip in the record of time and language changes like the ebb and flow of the tide. I should’ve been a poet

Sounds grim
I'm not surprised.
@@mattpiper7895 Mac’s due far more credit than you give him. He knows his audience and pitches accordingly.
Girlfriend in Pattaya? Not need!
Pattaya is the wrong place to look for a girlfriend 😮
