I’m going to make it my goal to be able to play this by the end of next year! I can’t hit some of the high notes yet but I hope one day I can play as gracefully as Katrina
I am female and I am encouraged when I hear female baritone and euphonium players. Especially attractive ones like Katrina. I played baritone in high school and college. I worked hard at it, but sometimes I'd feel a bit embarrassed telling what instrument I played back then now, seeing that it's not an instrument as many girls play (or often one many people have even heard of). I'd be afraid people wouldn't think it's feminine. Isn't that kind of dumb? :)
This is a 4 year old comment, so sorry for digging out graves. But I think you should whatever you want to do and enjoy. And if the people you tell don't think baritone is feminine. So what. :) Do what you want to do! :D
Well played katrina best ever rendition of the shipping forecast signature tune(the swan)I've ever heard, simple tune played extremely well maturity beyond your years.Congratulations n hope you continue to regale us more
I played baritone/euphonium in public and high school and to me its about passion. To get to the high notes its about the lip position. You also have to be a part of the instrument but most of all never give up. I remember when my music teacher in high school asked me to join a stage band. i told him that a baritone isnt part of a stage band but he told me i want you to anyways. give it all you got.
I remember when i had the choice of 3 instruments when i was in public school and i end up getting the baritone. My reaction was was the hell is that then i realized i can make the most of it and i did. thanks to John Palmer i became a good baritone player. I became a part of my instrument
Apart from the great musicianship, so...was that an alto/tenor horn? It seems like it's the size of one, but the mouthpiece looks like it's for a euphonium/baritone.

I can't lie about this song, I found the melody so beautiful that I struggled to play it on my euphonium as my lips would quiver with emotion so I would screw it up... Think I should have tried to detach myself from it more
I think the accompaniment is deliberately kept very soft, in order to highlight the baritone solo in this delicate piece, which was originally written for cello. Notice the conductor's gensture at 0:27 .
Only low brass players know how hard it is to make those high notes sound sweet and gentle. Great job!
Katrina is my cousin!!! :D great job!!

well bro, how's it going? :)
Beautifully played, from the heart, a very moving performance.

@@iCupboard I agree!!
Girls can play any instrument. Instruments are instruments without a feminine or masculine quality.
Best recording of the piece I have ever haf
Absolutely exquisite!!
Beautiful!
Stunningly performed! breath control and dynamics and phrasing. What didn't she do flawlessly? ? This was perfection.

I’m struggling on really high notes and high G where it sounds like a dying rat but she plays it so beautiful, hopefully one day I’ll be like her!

@@kevinm4022 you shouldn't be moving your lips for high notes
@@charliewhelan9488 isn’t it faster air and the airway gets smaller?
@@Mclovinmilfsthatsforsure ever so slightly perhaps. But most of it is in the tongue
and again my life moves wrong and i need to come back here to let this euphonium psychologist calm the storms of my mind ..
playing baritone sorry
@@roberthumphrey7287 thanks
very good, what brand and model uses mouthpiece
So beautiful ! What is the exact make and model of this baritone ?
It's basically a Tenor Flugelhorn
Wunderbarer Ton auf dem Instrument. Danke ein Posaunist
My favorite part is at 2:15, the first two notes.

Anybody can play LOUD..!!! It is the sign of a real artist to be able to play softly while still in control.

What is the name of the instrumemt?
some know where I can get the score??

On the last note particularly... tuning would go funny
and the occasional high note
Glad you liked it! Good luck with your playing.

OKIDOKI
maybe it's just the recording, but the accompaniment is too soft, they're barely audible
Definitely much better on French horn than Tenor horn, way too much vibrato for my liking, although well played by the young lady
This is a baritone not a tenor horn.
French horns are horrible.

Sounds fine to me
ElzearYoung don't be so pedantic, they are kids & to my obviously untrained ear every thing was spot on
