here's the story behind the song, if interested
I have researched Daddy's writing of Psycho for an upcoming interview, but I felt I should share my findings with you first!!
I was told by my Mom the original story of him writing after the Hitchcock movie!
However, the song was written two years after the date of the Whitman killings! Seems this did upset him and was talking to his guitar player, JACKIE WHITE (who is mentioned in the song) actually they said Ol Jackie was Daddy's sounding board while they discussed the Whitman shootings along with, the killings in Wisconsin by Edward Gein, Richard Speck and Mary Flora Bell , who I believe was a murderer at age 10 and most notably an 1930s serial killer Howard Edward FISH! Hence, Can Mary Fry Some FISH Mama?
Again I apologize for not researching this further!
I also found out Daddy didn't say he didn't want it recorded until after he died!! He said This is gonna be a hell of a story after I die! Seems he was right!
