Thanks Malcolm, in my head, it would be flat and hard compact sand, but out of the whole beach, there really was only one line where all the cyclists had ridden. Even then, with obvious tyre marks, a couple set their blanket right in the middle of the line! Anywhere off line was treacherous.
That looked hard! I have occasionally flirted with gravel and mountain bikes but as a roadie at heart, it's not long before I'm back on the tarmac. Good video. I felt the pain 😎
Thanks Lewis, the downhill over bumpy rocks rattling my eyeballs was definitely an experience, I have no idea how anyone went faster and could see where they were going!!!
Out some gravel tyres on and see how much confidence they give you. It’s amazing what they just glide over! It was a lot of fun and definitely exhausting!!
You’ll be fine, I’m assured there it’s more like gravel, with lots of fast flowing tracks. It was a lot of fun. I might see you at the Salisbury Plain ride.
I didn’t use the Hunts on the gravel, I put the Panaracer Gravel Kings on the stock wheels, so so now I only have to swap the wheels over when I want to go gravel riding. It’s one of the reasons I went for this bike, as it’s an “all road” bike, which it most definitely is. The tyre/wheel plan was always there, I just needed to wait until I had the pennies to buy the new wheels.
Thank you, I’m a little bit limited on music, as I have to find copyright free tracks on Soundcloud. I’m not at that point yet where I can pay for a music subscription. But I try to use music that I think fits the video, but it’s not that easy. Even some of the free music is a copyright strike nightmare. It really is a minefield that I didn’t expect.
Ah! Right. If it’s the one I’m thinking of from the track list, I’d uploaded it with a different song that was supposedly copyright free, but I had the warning from RUclips before it was completed, so had to take it down and edit another track in quickly, bare in mind the export and upload can take a couple of hours alone, I can understand why the majority of RUclips upload the next day. I always like to get the video up the same day, but it is proving more difficult.
That did look a lot of fun. Cycling on the sand is hard as the tyres sink into it. No wonder Pete kept falling off. Thanks for posting.

Nice video Darren, thanks for coming along and taking part 👌
Thanks Mark, we absolutely loved it.
Great video and thanks for the laughs!
Thanks Scott, I’m glad that came across, as we did have a real laugh yesterday. So much fun!

It was so much fun though Scott, gotta be worth a go every now and then
I only used to do Mountain biking until fairly recently… that brought all the pain back… Great effort lads!!

Signed up for this event last night for September. First gravel ride. Maybe I should’ve watched the video first 🤔
You’ll love it Rachel, it’s a great event that’s very well organised and the route is a lot of fun.
Great fun..! Well done👍
Thank you, I was especially pleased with how this video turned out as filming one handed on some of those tracks was an achievement in itself
@@DarrenPhillips yes, one handed off road is brave... Nice work.
Mark's full sus looked the right option for all that!
There was also several road sections as well, and that was when Mark struggled. But I was jealous of his suspension on the descents.
Wow that looked so much fun if exhausting. I rubbish off road so my trek stays mostly on tarmac 🤭🤭

Its time you & Pete added a mountain bike to the fleet...
No need, after what we rode over yesterday on gravel bikes, I can’t say we’d need one 😂
@@DarrenPhillips got loads of somerset trials to show you but MTB would be more fun
@@CDEG72 it would have to go some to beat yesterday, as it was the most fun I’ve had on a bike
I’m signed up for Salisbury Plain - now starting to have doubts!!

@@DarrenPhillips great - hope to see you.
@@DarrenPhillips are you on the medium or long Salisbury gravel?
Terrific video! Did the new wheels make a significant difference over the stock wheels on gravel?

Love your vids, but if I make a humble suggestion, use music that is less gay....

@@DarrenPhillips lol, I am aware... but you needed a good ribbing for that particular choice...
