Thank you for suggesting Barb's case ✊🖤 it is why I so appreciate channels like Gabi's, that bring attention to older or lesser known cases. With today's science I believe a lot of them have a chance to be solved. 🤞
I was a sophomore and Barb was a freshman in Williston at that time, there was NEVER a search for Barb by law enforcement, it always scared me and I have often wondered what happened to her. I graduated with her brother Kent. We miss you Barb, you have never been forgotten.
If law enforcement thought she ran away at the time one thing makes that highly unlikely, every time I hear that the person's cigarettes were left behind I suspect they didn'y leave of their own free will. If you smoke and you are making a bi life changing decision - you're bringing your cigarettes.
Thank you for covering this case !! I've lived in Williston my whole life and knew Barb very well, we went to school together. I pray that this video helps to bring her home. 🙏🙏🙏
This is a very puzzling disappearance case of, Barbara Louise Cotton, to me on several levels. I hope that the family and love ones can find closure to this mysterious case of Barbara's disappearance in the future. Gabby, you did an "awesome," job covering this case as always. Take care 🦋
Gabby, I realize that there are so many True Crime creators on RUclips and podcasts but I just want to take a moment to commend you for bringing so many cases to all of our attention that very, VERY rarely do I ever hear any other creators research and discuss like you do. I understand we live in a beautiful yet incredibly dangerous world but regardless if the cases from years and years ago have been solved or not, you never let the victims be forgotten about. I have been a fan of your videos for quite some time (I was getting a little worried there that you may have stopped with your channel altogether when I hadn't seen any videos for a while but although my heart breaks about the cases you discuss I am so happy you are back)! Just because time goes by doesn't mean we should forget what happened to so many victims (my big brother included after being murder in 2011) and not only that but you truly do an amazing job with your dedication to loads of research and I literally feel the compassion for each victim and all who knew and loved each one of them whenever you share what they endured before they left this world way too soon! (I am aware of my run-on sentences for those that may point them out but I have so much to say and cannot find the right words) other than to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the time and emotion as well as the fond memories you spend hours learning about each victim to share with the rest of us who without your drive to keep the names of those who passed with so much more life to live, we would never (or @ least I would never) have known about so many cases that to a lot of us seem so long ago but to those who loved them it'll always feel like it just happened yesterday. I apologize for being all over the place I just needed to somehow express my gratitude and praise you for all the hardwork and true passion you have that lots of people lack in today's world. Keep doing what makes you happy and helps solve many cold cases. You have a gift and I knew there was a reason GOD had you pop up on my RUclips over 2 years ago now! Keep shining like the beautiful star you are! Much love, Kristen ❤
This case is so sad. I hope Barb's family has answers someday not know is the worst part. I wasn't very close with Suzanne Lyall but we went to school together & worked together for many years. Her disappearance will forever haunt me until the day I die & the "what if" scenarios that play out in my head are something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. 😢💔 On a much lighter note, I wanted to tell you how much I LOVE 🥰 your hair. Props to whomever your stylist is for getting that pageboy cut down because that's not a popular cut now, so it's not something they'd be familiar with doing, but they nailed it! 😗🤌 And you pull it off wonderfully! Not many people could, but it looks lovely ❤😊
I don’t mean any disrespect towards the family, but was the mother looked at? If innocent, she’s the person on earth suffering the most from barb’s disappearance. But it wouldn’t be the first time a parent killed a child, and I find it odd that she’s the lone source of information that should have multiple sources, like who was at the party but most glaringly, that Barb had a boyfriend. A mentally ill drifter is an excellent place to lay blame & it’s really hard to imagine that Diane didn’t even know he existed. Boyfriend gossip is pretty high priority for teen bffs. But, no one wants to think a mother would do that, premeditated or in a fit of rage. I can imagine cops being reluctant to question her because it’s such a big offense if they got it wrong. Still, if all the contradicting stories have a single source it's worth examining. Especially when she admits to having argued with the missing person. I’ve been wondering about Louise all the way up to the end when Gabby brought up the brother. But why that brother? Is there any evidence of a violent history in the family or outside of the assault mentioned? That would also be a reason for a mom to lie & point to a suspect she knew wouldn’t have much defense. Stacey wasn't someone with the resources to defend himself if he'd been "caught". But it's possible he didn't even know anyone was looking for him, whether he knew Barb or not. This guy could have never even been in the same room as barb. An ID from a photo after a single encounter at a party years later isn’t reliable when witnesses have been proven wrong repeatedly in the days after an event. Police didn’t question him. Her mom is the only firm link. He could have been doing odd jobs, helped her out, or hitched a ride from Louise, shared his story & the fact that he was heading for Montana next. Why did she point police to a motel in Montana? Specific down to the room number Why did Louise call her daughter's former friend when looking for Barb? Why Sandy? Usually there's an actual falling out, sometimes friends just grow apart. We're talking about 15 year olds. Did she call Dianne? Louise says she, Stacey & Barb "attended dinner". Was this just having the boyfriend over or were other people there? Idk why but it sounded fairly formal. No one else knew Stacey & Barb were together? Who was supposed to have been at the dinner if it was another friend rather than Louise? Is ANYONE in barb's life known to have taken a dog to the vet in that time frame? Idk how dependant she was on her glasses, but a smoker doesn’t leave behind their cigarettes. The presence of these items to me suggests that either something happened to her at the home or someone stopped by & she just stepped out for a moment & things went wrong. I'm really not making any accusations. This is the first I've heard of the case & I'm sure there's a lot I'm missing & many of my questions might have readily available answers. Gabby's video isn't even half an hour long & I have an hours worth of questions. I think I need to check out the multi part podcast. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a visual component. I'm hearing impaired so I rely on the visual of RUclips & closed captioning. I can get the volume loud enough when alone in the car, I just don't have that option frequently & it sounds long. So, if anyone can answer any of my questions, I'd appreciate it.
Hi Gabby like your nice hair style. This is such a sad and tragic cold case of Barbara Cotton. I hope her family will receive closure and find out what really happened to her. These disappearance cases is very hard to forget. Stay well and safe 🙏👍
I'm here just as much for your style transformations as i am for your incredibly well done case videos. I love your content, you do great work and pay great respect to the victim's. Love you Gabs ❤
You look very pretty, as always. I really like the new hairstyle. After all this time, I hope that if anyone knows anything they will be willing to come forward with information. Such a sad case. No one deserves to be lost to time.
Am I the only one weirded out that a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD was reportedly dating a 21 year old guy, AND her fellow 15 year old best friend was GETTING MARRIED? Also, if neither girl was 16 yet, but one was getting married, were Barb and Diane going to move in with Diane’s new husband? This is so weird and gives me the heebie jeebies.
Are any of them survived by family members or descendents who can still be questioned? Perhaps someone knows something about their Father (or Grandfather) and can be persuaded to share that information.
Does anyone know the timing regarding Barb and the Rawlins Rodeo Murders? I think the victims of most of those crimes could match her. I don't know exactly where Royal Russell Long (assuming he was the killer) was located then, but he was a trucker. I know the boyfriend is a better suspect but as soon as I heard the location, her age and description, and the time period. It made me think...
I have looked at RRL quite a bit actually. I have not been able to tie him to Williston but I haven't been able to tie him to any other place when Barb disappeared either. I brought him up to investigators as well. While Barb didn't match his preferred MO, he was also known to deviate from it. RRL is not as widely known as I feel he should be. I'd love to discuss him further if anyone is interested.
I’ve heard Barb’s tale a few times now (most recently on Unfound, but other places, too.) this is a great, fact based video for it, but there are some things that make other telling of it seem more likely that Barb’s mom was… off. Or at least knew more. I can’t shake the feeling that she and the brother saw or did something to Barb and took the opportunity to throw Stacey in there because he made a good fall guy. Although, he also has red flags. It’s one of the trickiest - and saddest - old cases around :(
Sometimes the truth is too horrible, and I've a feeling it applies to this case. Two suicides, unclear timeline, absolutely no evidence, did I miss the relationship of Barb to the killer seismologist? No closure seems probable with this one. I hope Barb's family was able to move on and find peace.
We have not been able to find a connection between de la Peña and Barb aside from him being in Williston when Barb disappeared. Unfortunately there is never any true closure or peace with the unsolved disappearance of a loved one.
@@LisaJoSchiele Sorry for your loss. Has any lakes in the area been checked for her body? If Frank De La Pena left those other 2 girls out in the open then he would have done the same with Barb which is why I don't think it was him because her body would have been found. He probably hung himself for murdering those 2 girls. I think Stacy did it but strange how no body has turned up.
@@andrewward2010 there aren't a ton of lakes in that immediate area. The river is the most likely culprit if she is in water. I am not privy to what the police did or did not do as far as search efforts. It took them years to look at her case as if she might not have ran away. I agree with you that Barb having never been found does not match well with de la Peña's actions after leaving Williston. We certainly know that he was capable and that he was in Williston. One thing I take into consideration is that with the job he held in Williston he would have gotten familiar with numerous remote areas in close proximity. Maybe he panicked in Wyoming, felt emboldened or maybe he thought they wouldn't be able to figure out that it was him in a different state. The possibilities are seemingly endless. I remain very open to possibilities and flexible in my opinions on these things. Don't see how Louise could have been at the meal if she was working until 11pm. So did they leave the party and go to the meal? Even though the 2 Franks are plausible I think it was Stacy.
