I am author of the books: The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall, The Real Wakandas of Africa and The Real Vibranium of Africa (by Maurice Miles Martinez). In the Great Wall of Africa, I discuss the Benin Bronzes and current issues around returning them from Museums. Most people are unaware that African people built a wall before transatlantic slavery in the Benin empire that is one of the most massive structures in the world. At 10,000 miles long, the Great Wall of Africa contains more material than all of the buildings in New York City’s Manhattan. If cut into 1 meter high blocks, it would wrap around the equator more than 65 times! It is arguably the planet’s greatest man-made structure. Yet, it has been ignored by historians. In my book The Great Wall of Africa: The Empire of Benin’s 10,000 Mile Long Wall, I explore the dimensions of the wall, the history of the Benin Empire’s Kings (Obas) and the stolen Benin Bronzes. These treasures that sit in the world’s museums amount to more than $14 Billion. Most people who read this book are left wondering why they never heard about the Great Wall of Africa in their history classes. The world needs more videos on this topic that explain that the stolen Benin bronzes need to be fully returned (not just a few of them).

Antique shop up the street from me in Massachusetts has about 5 authentic Benin Bronze statues, each between $300-$500. He got them from a Professors collection when he passed away. I would love to purchase them and donate them to a museum in Benin but I’m just not wealthy like that. Considered buying them and sitting on them until I can afford to though.

The Yoruba as so called today are vastly and variedly travelled in the ancients. Many of those who were in Spain travelled down with the Moors indeed as Moors. During the sacking of Granada, the Spanish inquisition, and the findings of the Americas subsequently Those who knew themselves as Yoruba travelled down to West Africa where they knew where their people were. It's quite an amazing history to me.

Which Mecca did Odua came from? Is it the Mecca inside Nigeria or another Mecca in Arabia. Is that the fake narrative Europeans have planted in our people's head. They can't even tell the difference between the Oduduwa in Yoruba creation story who was a divinity, and the other Oduduwa who was human and adopted the name of the divinity, Oduduwa. It's painful listening to this. The origin of Oduduwa is right inside Nigeria. That's what they have used modern day religions to hide from you. Ile-Ife is a better place to go get info on Yoruba origin. Oyo Empire is still quite recent, just couple of hundreds of years.

Oduduwa didn't come from Mecca, he came from the East according to most credible historians. He didn't fall from the sky either. The Benin Empire which is about 1000 years before the existence of Oduduwa says he's an exiled Benin prince. This is the most credible version because Benin came back for Oduduwa to rule when there was a power vacuum, but he sent his youngest son Oranmiyan in his place. Oranmiyan couldn't rule the people due to unfamiliarity with the culture, so he left to form the Oyo Empire leaving a child behind, Oba Eweka I, whose descendants have been the Oba of Benin till date.

Wrong. Oduduwa was not a prince from Benin. That's something cooked up by the late Oba Eredua to kinds of give the Benin people some millage over their Yoruba neighbor.
Oduduwa neither came from Mecca like those confused chiefs are saying, the idea that he came from Mecca seems to have started after many people in the Yoruba gradually converted to Islam after the fall of Oyo empire. Oduduwa, was said to have come from somewhere in the East of Africa, and that location could be Nubians territory around the horn of Africa, in the North - East part of the continent. And when he arrived at a place which is now present Ife, people were already there.

The Aworis are speakers of a distinct dialect close to that of Yoruba language with a rich Bini mixture. Traditionally, Aworis were found in Ile-ife; they were known to be the Binis, who followed their self-exiled prince, the first son of the Ogiso (now called Oba) of Benin Kingdom, whose stepmother was after his head.
“The exiled Benin Prince Izoduwa, known to Yoruba as Ooduwa (Oduduwa), was made ruler of the Ife people due to his powers and followers from the great Benin Kingdom.
“Izoduwa (Ooduwa) was made the first king of Ile-Ife in 1230 AD. His followers from his father’s Kingdom in Benin are today’s Awori people, who settled in Eko now called Lagos.

@@waleabdulhamid4522 Most west African societies at that time engaged in capturing and selling each other. The Oyo used to sell other Africans, then once they got weak other Africans used to sell the Oyo. The whole set up and set of moral values within west Africa at that time was not just wrong, it was plain evil because they jumped into bed with evil.

Yeah, I know right, like when the Saxons sold the Celts. Or like when the Romans sold the Saxons. Or like when the Greeks sold anyone white from anywhere north of Greece into slavery. Or like when the Turks sold Slavs. In fact the word “slave” comes from Slavic people because so many of them were sold as slaves by white people who looked just like them. Go figure. 🤷🏾‍♂️
