- EPISODE #51 - In this incredibly celebratory video James Eatock takes an in-depth look at the development and impact of Filmation's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon, relating his own personal journey from fan to someone that has worked on the brand! This video also features appearances from over 240+ He-Man and She-Ra fans!

Filmation SERIOUSLY deserves a lot more credit than they get now adays.
I agree. They may not have been the best studio, but they did their very best with what little they had to work with. Plus, they helped up, and coming talent get the chance to learn the ropes, and become part of the animation process. No current animation studio has that anymore.
That's because these days FACTS do nothing...it's all about a perceived opinion...so the uninformed and uneducated "experts" that know all about animation from this decade can say any old crap...and so long as they have an audience they will be believed - My channel is all about putting FACTS out into the world and celebrating those that worked on these shows...not inventing garbage in order to gain traction - FACT: Filmation were a VERY successful studio that kept animation in the United States and inspired an entire generation! :)
100% agree!
It's an honor be part of the Filmation's Legacy... thanks Master Eatock❤🎉🎉
Thank YOU for being a part of it, sir! :)
My family ran a VHS rental in the early 80s. The first box of VHS tapes that showed up at the house, was stacked with Masters of the Universe. This was about a month before I saw the show on TV. I was in heaven.
That is a VERY cool anecdote - LOVE it! :)
Fantastic as always, James. Thank you for letting us be a part of this.
Thank YOU for being a part of it, sir! :)
I'm absolutely honored to be in this video! I had to record with my Orko plushie cause he's my favorite character! Happy 40th MOTU!
That Orko plushie is AWESOME, Joy! :) - I hope I didn't ruin your love for Orko when I made public what the little Trollan looked like without his hat and scarf...
@cerealgeekTV No, you didn't! I have an idea that takes several artist interpretations of Okro's face, and that's what I imagine he looks like! So, you didn't ruin the cute little guy at all!
I cant remember when it premiered locally here in Australia, but it was a pleasant change. After school programming consisted of a lot of re-runs of syndicated shows from the 60s and 70s, nestled in between were solo episodes of Looney Tunes. I think it set the cat amongst the pigeons ratings wise as well for the local networks and their after school/afternoon line up.
Yeah, sounds like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was MUCH needed! :)
Thank you James for this brilliant tribute. I'm so glad you got to become part of the He-Man story yourself.
I feel privileged to be amongst my fellow fans in the end segment.
Thank YOU for being a part of this - I cannot stress how each and every contribution I received made my day! :)
Wishing all those involved with the creation of He-Man and indeed to all fans around the world a happy anniversary. We have the power!
Beautifully said! :)
Great tribute Mister Eatock! I loved watching He-man every weekday on my local TV station in Texas. I'll never forget seeing cosplayers dressed as He-man & She-Ra at my local Toys R Us!⚔ That was an unusual sight back in 1986 before conventions were common.💯
THAT is an awesome memory to have...seeing those people dressed as He-Man and She-Ra must've been fantastic! :)
This video has taught me a few things, first is that Norm Prescott and Lou Scheimer were sound-alikes, something I never knew till, now, nor he's work on He-Man, second is that your parents are both awesome, it's easy to see now where your get your artistic skills from. ;) Third, not being credited on the 2002 series really did suck, but it explains how you were so apologetic when you forgot to credit me on that one issue of cereal:geek magazine, of which I will ALWAYS forgive you for that as it was an honest mistake, but if the roles were reversed, I too would freak out about it. :D
Thanks ever so much for giving me the opportunity and others too be a part of this video, I can safely say that we ALL have the power! Thanks again as always James and do keep up the good work. :)
Thank you, David! :) - Also, that reminds me, I must track down David Minter one day...
@@cerealgeekTV You're welcome and good luck on tracking Mr. Minter down. :)
Awesome! Here’s to another 40+ years of adventures across the Masters Universe. (Good looking family at 44:18 !
Well said! :)
A very happy anniversary to He-Man and the Master of the Universe. It's one of my all-time favorites. Thank you once again, James!
It was my absolute pleasure to make this video a reality! :)
What a wonderful Video!!! Happy 40th anniversary to us all! WE HAVE THE POWER!!!!!
Thank you for being a part of it, sir! :)
Auto spot at 47:44, ha ha ha.
But, on a more serious note, in my country, and due to my personal journey, there are few to no fans of Masters of the Universe. Seeing so many people from all over the world, of different nationalities, share my passion is truly invigorating. I believe we are blessed to have had a childhood like ours. He-Man, Lion-O, Optimus, Thundarr, and many others have shaped the adults we've become without ever losing our childlike spirit.
Thank you to James for continuing to delve into our memories and ensuring that we always have... the power!
Thank YOU for being a part of the video, Redha! :)
Awesome video of the 40 year legacy of He-man and the Masters of the Universe. Thank you for your contribution and of course YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words - Here's to another forty years! :)
40 years!! 🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for doing this James! Watching all of it right now!
I cannot stress how much JOY it gave me to put this video together! :)
Amazing James well done!! Loved being a part of this. ❤
Thank YOU for contributing to this, and inviting your friends to join it! :) X
So awesome, great video. Me and Audrey loved being a tiny part of the video. Thanks for doing this!
Thank YOU and Audrey for being a part of it! :)
Mike Reid’s gruff cockney tones introducing British kids to He-Man and the MOTU. In a week where CITV as a brand is being scrapped, that was poignant. Great community spirit on display in the “I have the Power!” compilation. Love is the only answer! Keep up the great work, James, love to all fellow fans from Scotland!
It was crazy when I saw the news about Children's ITV closing down...knowing that this video was going to showcase Children's ITV from the very beginning! :)
Amazing tribute and celebration for the cartoon that made Masters of the Universe a worldwide phenomenon! 🙂
Thank you, sir! :)
Thanks for the essay providing excellent information about MotU and the tribute, James! Happy to be a part of all this!
Video essayist here as well, and for the 40th anniversary, I have an analysis of the Dreamworks She-Ra reboot on my channel, providing a bit of cultural history, and thematic breakdown of ND Stevenson's new vision! More video essays discussing the history of She-Ra and Revelation to come!
Thank YOU for being a part of the video (every single contribution meant the world to me) - When I get a chance I shall check out your videos! :)
🎂Happy 40th Anniversary, He-man And The Masters Of The Universe.⚔️
THANK YOU & GOOD JOURNEY MARK, YOU WILL BE HONORED WITH POWER.
Well said! :)
Such a great honour to appear on it. Thanks for all your work and your love for Filmation and He-Man.
Thank YOU for taking the time to record a video clip - Each and every one of those submissions meant the world to me! :)
How amazing! Grateful to be a part of this! Also, can I just say that Tom Bryski is amazing? Lol
Bryski's video has honestly had more than a few people message me asking me where that bar is that shows He-Man episodes...I almost hate breaking the news to them that it's not real! :)
@@cerealgeekTV Right? Haha
You were meant to do this. Thanks for everything James. Great video.
I LOVED making this video - I really wanted it to be special! :)
JAMES! You are Lou’s ace in the Hole! Thank YOU for everything you’re doing. Bless you! And bless LEE!
Thank you...those are some VERY lovely words! :)
What an amazing and truly heartfelt story. I grew up watching He-Man and She-Ra as a kid and now as a grown man, proudly watch both shows. Thank you for all the effort and the work that went into this project. I used to be a member on that He-Man homepage years ago, it was such a fun place to visit. This series has a quality, sort of magic really, that is impossible to articulate. There is so much heart in that show, and yet it is not corny at all, this cartoon knows what it is and does it so well, and it never tries to be something else, thankfully. We all have TV shows that we loved as a kid, like TMNT and Batman, those were/are great shows that I also love and still watch, but He-Man is something completely different and it is so indescribably difficult to describe it. It's so warm, empathetic and you can tell that good people created this good TV series. I could tell as a child. So much heart, and so much magic, the real kind, that only exists in this universe. And what a universe it is. He-Man is the most emotionally intelligent TV series I have ever seen. And the music! The musical scores aren't just good, they are fantastic. The music plays such an important part of the emotions that come with watching this amazing show. I wanted to end with "I have the Power", but it doesn't sound right, because YOU'VE got the Power! Thank you!
Wow. That's powerful. I agree with every word.
LOVED reading your comment - And THANK YOU for the incredibly kind and well thought-out words...it means a GREAT deal! :)
I don't even know where to start thanking you James for showing so much love to this amazing franchise & keeping all of us fans engaged with new content. It was great to see so many familiar faces that make you realize how much impact a series can have in bringing people across all borders together. Keep going man!
Thank you for the LOVELY words, oh talented one! :)
❤ 45:14 Mr. D. aka Destructo aka Jannes Huizing tags into this awesome video. Thank you James for the opportunity.
Thank YOU for contributing a video, Jannes! :)
40 years...Man, where did the time go? I was 5 when I first started watching He-man when it aired back in 83'. Thanks for this video. The nostalgia hits hard.
It's hard to believe that over the next few years we're going to see the 40th anniversaries of SO many pieces of iconic pop culture from the 1980s! :)
In my life there have been three constants: my love of drawing, doing voices & Masters of the Universe! As far back as I can remember, I loved MOTU. I have a photo of me on my dad's childhood spring rocking horse, wearing my He-Man sweatshirt & holding aloft my knockoff Power Sword. He-Man was my first figure, Battle Cat my first beast & Road Ripper my first vehicle. I had my figures tear along the linoleum in our dining room/kitchen all day long if allowed while mom dodged the green vehicle at her feet. I had a Christmas receiving Man-At-Arms, Beastman, Faker, Sy-Klone, Thunder Punch (along with a sheet of extra caps), Moss Man & the Weapons Pack. A birthday would add Buzz-Off, Roboto & others to my collection. I collected other figures with my allowance or birthday money. Dragon Walker, Bashasaurus, a kid's sized shield & belt (from my grandma) & kid's sized Sword would join my collection from thrift stores over the years. Hordak was from Shopko & the last figure I bought as a kid was Whiplash from Toys R Us. I drew MOTU characters all the time, Grayskull (or the front half I had from a thrift store find for 25¢ with a cardboard back) housed my heroes (mixed with my collection of ThunderCats, TMNT, Transformers & others) while my later acquired Snake Mountain (complete thanks to one of my mom's friends) housed my villains. I collected Golden Books from Pic N Save, comics & KOs from the Dollar Store, & once I stumbled upon the .Org, restarted my toy collecting once more & added to my knowledge of this world I love so much. A few years ago my wife gave me the best birthday ever with a MOTU theme & gifts. She & our daughters all share a love for it to varying degrees. It's one thing that always makes me happy. My love for MOTU will never die.
LOVED reading this, sir - Thank you for the memories...and for being a part of this video! :)
I remember watching He-Man on sky channel on Fun Factory childrens program in the mid-80s. What a great time that was. - Great job James!
Man, that is rather awesome to hear - By the time my family were able to get cable, in 1993, He-Man and She-Ra were no longer on Fun Factory...or even The Children's Channel - Though there were STILL a lot of great shows available! :)
Happy 40th Anniversary, He-Man! Because in the end, We all have the power.
Amen to that! :)
Shout out to my friends for being a part of this as just a few of the 240 plus of us fans...
51:09 Alix Lynx & Jill Kassidy
42:18 Ivan Dragon
42:04 Kianna Dior
Massive shout out to James, a dear friend and fellow Brit.
This is such a powerful video. Hope everyone who watched gives it a thumbs up ❤
Thanks for the LOVELY words, Tanya - And again, to have Kianna, Jill, Alix, and Ivan be a part of the video is awesome! :) X
James, you did such a wonderful job! I always love your commentary, thoughts, and the behind-the-scenes treats you always present to us!
Filmation's He-Man and She-Ra cartoons are also big influences on me and my creative endeavors, specifically my comic book character Power G, and James, YOU are an invaluable part of He-Man and She-Ra! It is so cool that your parents inspired and encouraged you, and you do the same for me and I'm sure many others as well. If they ever do release another He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie, they would be as diabolical as Skeletor to not include you in a MAJOR way!
On a final note, I was so happy to be a part of your amazing video along with all the other He-Fans and She-Ravers! We Have The Power!!!!
Thank you for the kind words, Gary...and THANK YOU for being a part of this video! :)
This was awesome! Thank you! 40 years baby yeah! I remember spring of '83, when my friend in 3rd grade had the big 4 figures: He-man/Skeletor/ManatArms/Beastman. I was jealous. But eventually, in the summer, my Mom bought me He-Man/Skeletor. When I heard that channel 5 (NYC) was going to air a new show based on the toys I HAD to watch the premiere! When I got home from school, my sister got dibs on the color TV in my living room. So I had to end up watch Diamond Ray of Disappearance on a 12inch Black & White screen (w/coat hanger antenna) in my Mom's bedroom! Needless to say I LOVED IT! What a coincidence that I JUST FINISHED showing Diamond Ray TODAY to my second grade class! They loved it! :O)
I cannot stress how AWESOME it was reading your comment - It's FANTASTIC that you showed the cartoon to a new audience...and they loved it! :)
Wow your history and vast opportunities associated with MOTU is simply spectacular ❤
You were definitely the right person to compile this video 🎉
So very proud of you and to get to see these kind of videos. Thank you and continue the amazing work
Thank you for the incredibly lovely words - That means a LOT to me! :)
Awesome. Glad you've gotten to actually "step through the looking glass" and become so connected to the He-Man universe. Can you imagine how blown away the little kid you would've been if he'd been told? Enjoyable and informative video too.
Yeah, I have thought about that over the years - Young James' mind would've been blown away had he known how involved he would eventually become with the He-Man and She-Ra franchise! :)
I was 2 and a half and I still remember it, believe it or not
I believe it! :)
I wish I was around back the. To experience it when it was new.
Happy 40 Years!
It was a pretty special time! :)
Absolutely brilliant james your story growing up with heman and your family both artists. awesome history and crediting everyone on filmation robby london etc. i never knew heman was first aired in uk but the last to see all 130 episodes in 1988 in uk.👍👍
I'm glad you enjoyed the video - Trust me when I say that it was a JOY to make it! :)
What a great video! So much to see. I didn't realize you were so into hip hop. 💙 I didn't expect to see you in those full, awesome braids. So many looks for you. We've all changed and gone through so much in 40 years. Isn't it awesome that our love of this one property bonds sometimes complete strangers together? I love knowing you had the parental support to enjoy what you loved. Not everyone gets that at home. Thank you for opening up and sharing your stories with us. It was so cool to see friends in the pictures and in that final compilation. There's quite a few characters out there among us!
🤜🏽💥⚡
Thank you for the VERY lovely words, sir! :)
What an inspiring video. Thank you for all of the work you you do in helping us celebrate our childhood heroes. You are as much a part of He-man and She-ra's story as the talented people who created it.
Thank you so much for the kind words - I genuinely LOVE He-Man and She-Ra..and I respect and admire all of those that worked on it - And our fanbase kicks MUCH ass! :)
Awesome, awesome video. Well done, James. The love for MOTU just radiates off the screen 😇👍
Thank you - THAT was my goal! :)
Great and very enjoyable video James.
Finding out it took ITV three months to screen the next episode of He-Man and The Masters Of The Universe. After showing the first four episodes. Wow that is bad especially when CITV was just into its first few months of broadcasting. Shows then and even now how little they care about children's programming.
Rant over and thanks for reading my message.
Yeah, Children's ITV had a strange take on airing cartoons - If the series was short enough (The Fantastic Four, Spider-Woman, The Incredible Hulk) they would show the entire series across those thirteen or so weeks! :)
And always feel free to rant! :)
Like you I sat down that day n the north East of England and became a lifetime fan of Masters of the Universe
It was the day (at least in the UK) that changed many a life! :)
This was a joy to watch. Absolutely fantastic work, James! Thanks for including so many of us in this 40 year celebration video. Considering how many fans participated in it, I think "WE have the power" is more befitting. Congrats on an excellent video that you clearly put a lot of love into!
Thank you for the very kind words, sir - And, again, thank YOU for being a part of it! :)
Thank you so much for this video. Loved it. It was great seeing the He-man and She-Ra fans.
Yeah, I really wanted to celebrate the fans, the community...because together we have kept He-Man and She-Ra alive for decades! :)
I had no idea Norm Prescott also did voice work for Filmation, and even more bizarre is that Norm's voice sounds EXACTLY like Lou's voice in some respects. While 'The Smurfs' were the first toy like I collected, it was 'He-Man' that jump started my toy collecting habits.
Yeah, Lou's voice is SO close to Norm's...I think that's probably why they had Lou voice Stratos in season two...there wasn't much of a change! :)
Fantastic episode loved this! Oh and didn’t realise The Time Corridor aired on my actual Birthday here in the UK 🇬🇧 !!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Frank! :)
Yeah, He-Man is pretty cool I guess. Seriously, I have many great memories of being a fan of the MOTU brand. Thanks, James, for putting your heart into the brand we all love. We have the power!
Thank YOU for the lovely words - I was VERY happy with how this video came together! :)
James I know I have already told you this but from I will always love and respect your deep passion for this franchise. You are the epitome of Manifestation and accomplishing all your wildest childhood dreams. You don’t get anywhere near the credit you deserve in my eyes, but I am so proud of all you have achieved up today and will continue to achieve here on. You give hope to the rest of us that anything is possible if you believe deep down. ❤
Thank you for the VERY kind words and ALL the support you've shown me over the years, Corrine! :) X
That was a wonderful video, James. Very informative and personal. It was also truly fantastic to see so many faces of online friends I have made over the years. Quite a beautiful experience. Thank you for letting me be part of it!
Thank you for being a part of it...and the very lovely words! :)
Love it. He-man forever!
Amen to that! :)
Beautiful video bud, proud to be a part of it, but my favorite scene was the legacy part with your part and your parents. 😊❤
Awww...thank you, sir! :)
I still remember watching Heman in my own regional language! So nostalgic!
It's a show that we're all still talking about to this day...it definitely did something right! :)
@@cerealgeekTV yeah 😍 we all love Heman and skeletor alike!
This is the perfect tribute to the Filmation series. Great job James. And great to learn some things I'd never known before - particularly about the other series bibles written for the show, I hope they resurface some day. I'd absolutely no idea about Norm Prescott voicing Stratos.
And I remember that shop in Soho - I loved it, it was a fantastic treasure trove of pop culture artefacts! It even inspired some of the lyrics in one of my band's songs "Soho Rain", I felt it was a kind of shrine to the pop culture and art movements that came out of Soho. So very interesting to see it played a key role in your MOTU journey!
I do have fond memories of the weekends I would visit yours and Zadoc's old site, rediscovering a new MOTU or POP episode each week. So amazing to see you still doing such great MOTU work 25 years on, and the strength of the fan community that has built up since those early days! The Filmation MOTU show has a very special legacy indeed; great to see it being celebrated the way it deserves 40 years from the show's debut!
It IS amazing when you think about the fact that there are still quite a few of us that have been a part of the He-Man and She-Ra on-line community since the nineties - Thank you for being a part of this video...AND I love seeing that the UK Masters of the Universe comic website is up and running again! :)
Masters of the Universe came on Television in Australia in 1983. I had got some of the figures / toys and read some of the DC Superman crossovers before then. 1985 was the highlight for me, with the release of Secret of the Sword on VHS, "Leia is Luke's sister and now this?"
I first discovered that Masters of the Universe/Superman crossover quite by accident whilst visiting a comic shop in 1992...as you can imagine it took me by surprise! :)
Awesome Show who ever remember Filmation and He-man and the masters of the universe . Great video Honor those great Moment and talented People
An absolutely amazing video mate. Thanks so much for sharing with us all🙂👍🗡
It's a pleasure - I love making these video essays and sharing as much material and anecdotes as I can! :)
Glad I got to take part in this.
Great video, dude.👍
Thank YOU for being a part of it, sir! :)
Oh, man, this is one heck of a celebratory video! It's funny that you said, "I wasn't the only one on the planet who still remembered He-Man" when talking about your internet beginnings because that's exactly what I thought when I stumbled upon your Bustatoon website, LOL.
I absolutely love the part where you give thanks to your parents. It's just heartwarming.
And as for the final part of the video with all of us, I know it's supposed to be all fun and games, but seeing all those folks from around the world, even some I follow, coming together to make a lighthearted contribution, just as you put it, "no agendas, no ego, no cynicism," it was kinda touching to me, to be honest. Maybe I'm getting older and getting soft, but I genuinely enjoyed it.
But you know what's missing from the video, really? Yep, buddy, YOU saying, "I have the power." If I had a say in the editing, I would've threatened not to upload the video until I got a clip of you saying that too. This time it's okay, but remember, for the 50th anniversary video of He-Man, you better be in there too!
Bless you for the very kind words, sir! :)
I really loved all your MOTU coverage the past few months James, this is very much what you eat, breath and sleep and you keep making this vintage show feel more and more fresh with each successive decade.
I actually put together an A.I assisted He-Man audio short, titled "An Important Dare", I hope you get to see it.
Thank you for the kind words - Yeah, I too have been playing around with ElevenLabs...and have come up with some extraordinary results...BUT...I'm still a little uneasy about the whole thing...I kind of need to mull it over a little more...:)
@@cerealgeekTV Very understandable, I'm having a blast with it personally, and it saves me a lot of time, but you're a pro and definitely don't need it to get by and continue your hot streak of success
Thank you for this video! I wish you had more pictures of the He-Man live action show that was thrown in front of the Hollywood Chinese Theater, the few that you show in this documentary are fascinating!
Sadly, there aren't all that many - I think I have two of three behind the scenes...as they're preparing for the event...followed by about five or so of the event itself - Scarily, out there somewhere, is probably video footage...THAT would be amazing to see! :)
This was truly an amazing walk through of your life with motu. This video had so much awesome information I hadn't heard before. You have such a cool career and are so lucky to be so close to the franchise. This franchise has always been such a huge part of my life. It was my first memory, getting He-man and Skelator for x-mas, and I shared my love of motu with my entire family. It's tide to so many memories of my parents who passed and my siblings who played with the toys with me. I love motu. It made me who I am today, and it's cool to see it did the same for so many people all over the world.
I'm VERY glad to hear that you enjoyed the video...and thank you for the lovely words! :)
Great job James great seeing all of these. Sorry I couldn’t take part as I was under the weather. It was great seeing the familiar faces. It was also great hearing the sorceress intro from the greatest adventures of them all.
I'll hit you up ten years from now when I make a 50th anniversary video! :)
Yeah thanks james 👍 tons of memories i could write a book to .my first mini comics were in french so couldnt read them now.

WONDERFUL memories - And it's great that we still have them! :)
When you tune-in to @cerealgeekTV 's latest video, and see all your friends! Great job, James! 🤗
YAY - Thank you - I'm VERY happy that this video is getting the love that I had hoped it would! :)
This is my favorite video you've made thus far! Which is saying something, as all your videos are wonderful. You can tell so much heart and soul and hard work goes into all your videos.
Thank you for the VERY kind words, Rebekah! :)
that was beautiful, thank you. On gloomy days I always look forward leafing thru your guide to find an episode I haven't yet seen and catching it on youtube. Never fails to cheer me up :)
You have no idea just how much that means to me - I'm happy that my work can be the source of great happiness! :)
Love it. I was goint to try to submit a clip for this, but I chickened out in the last minute 😅
That's a shame - I'm sure I'll do something similar for He-Man's 50th though... - EEK! :)
Wow! You continue to find and share more information that I never knew about my favorite franchise.
The beauty of He-Man and She-Ra, even to this day, is that I'm still uncovering things about the original show - Just last night I found ANOTHER design (an incredible one) for the Spirit of Evil from "Wizard of Stone Mountain"! :) - Expect a video on that at some point...
As usual James Great Video. Been following you for 20 years now im 46.
I remember the contender entertainment DVDs u did commentary tracks for. I think they stopped at 7 volumes. Thank you so much for all your hard work put into the german release. I bought 2! Lets Hope For an English Release.
Thank you for supporting my craziness for two decades! :) - We did make it to volume nine, but it was two years after the release of volume seven...and interest in those retro DVDs had waned... - As for a Blu-ray...if anything pops up I'll let y'all know across social media, and maybe even this channel! :)
What an awesome video, thank you for sharing, James!
My absolute pleasure! :)
very fun!!! what a great way to celebrate our childhood!
Thank YOU, sir...for being a part of it! :)
Very good! James, thanks a lot for this movie!
It was my pleasure! :)
I am speechless Mr E......one of the best videos i have ever watched....very informative and very entertaining....so much i would like to say but that would end up being an essay. Thank you once again.....
Thank you for the lovely words - Yeah, I put a LOT of work into this one! :)
Thanks for sharing your journey!
Thank you for taking the time to watch it! :)
Time flies when you're having fun, 40 years of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. You should do a documentary dvd/blu ray for the 50th anniversary and they should do Power-Con in Los Angeles just one more time!! Btw I have the power!!
I DO very much love the scenario you paint, Vidal! :)
@@cerealgeekTV I always have great ideas!! 🤔
Thing we all know is James. We know you have the power!
Bless you, Chris! :) X
@@cerealgeekTV you truly are one of the lights in this fandom, James.
“No agendas”. Well said 👍
I just find it really bizarre that people continuously want to leave their "mark" on it...
Fun stuff, love this video!
Thank you for the kind words - I was rather proud of how this one came together! :)
Just absolutely fantastic!
Thank you - The video came together rather wonderfully! :)
Great video. I wish whoever was in charge of the brand would let you be the showrunner of a cartoon instead of some of the other people they've hired that seem to hate the brand.
I appreciate the VERY kind words, but honestly, I want NOTHING to do with the current Masters of the Universe brand - It's like a poison chalice! :)
Unreal. I can relate to so much of this, the show has meant so much to me since that debut episode. Crazy really. I'll never forget the Sorceress introduction talking about the characters. Gives me goosebumps to this day. What an unbelievable show this was.
There's a reason that DECADES later fans, casual fans, pop culture people ALWAYS come back to the Filmation series - It had SO much damn heart and was (for many) a labor of love! :)
lol i remember busta toons. thats how i watched some of the episodes back in the day before they got released on dvd. also bought quite a few he-man cels in the early 2000's. people are crazy how much they want for them now.
The world, especially the Internet, seems like a VERY different place to what it was back then, doesn't it?! :)
Amazing dude..just amazing
Thank you for the kind words, sir! :)
I'm really glad that someone who loves MOTU as much as I do, helps with maintaining the lore. I REALLY hope that someone in the US releases these plaion sets. Question for you - would you need to remaster these sets again, or would a US company be able to use the sets you already made?
A US company could indeed just re-use the content created for the German release...:)
@@cerealgeekTV awesome! I already suggested this to shout factory!
Awesome video and great I have the powers from everyone!
Yeah, I really wanted to celebrate the He-Man and She-Ra community! :)

I LOVE it when people talk about experiencing the old Episode Review Website back in the day - The Internet was a far more innocent and simpler place back then - SO much fun! :)
@@cerealgeekTV Yes I enjoyed printing out scenes for nostalgia then DVDs had it all now relive it all
That makes me smile! :)
Brilliant James. Loads of cool info there. 👊
My pleasure - It was a video I'd be planning for many, MANY months! :)
ROWBY cameo! 😂😂😂😂
...is the best kind of cameo! :)
Classic 80's He-Man.
An iconic character! :)
Sir James, a thought: I've said before that NBCU/Dreamworks should treat Filmation He-Man & She-ra with the same high regard Disney gives it's roster of princes & princesses. About a year out from the 40th anniversary of the 1st ever MOTU theatrical movie ( He-Man & She-ra: The Secret of The Sword, of course lol ), I think they should do a MAJOR ( & well advertised ) EXTENDED anniversary edition (DVD, Blu-ray,). I've long thought that the showcasing of the movie in format as the first five episodes of the She-ra show was a misstep that diminished the legacy of the movie AS a movie: I think that RATHER than what they did, they INSTEAD should have re-aired the movie ( after it finished it's theatrical run, deleted scenes [ which should never have been edited out anyway ] inculded ) AS a television re-airing of "The He-Man & She-ra: The Secret of The Sword movie" in mini-series format, as their way of introducing the show. But, getting back to what an extended version might have& include, obviously it would have all the footage from the episodic version. I also think that the extended sequence featuring that never before seen and nowhere else seen side stair well in Grayskull from the "For the honor of love" music video ( seen when the Sorceress walks from her bedroom in the music video, but not seen in the same scene in the movie/show ) should be edited in. Something about that stairwell spoke of a larger, more mysterious Grayskull in a significant way. But I also thought about how the movie would have been presented if the filmakers hadn't been going on the assumption that everyone seeing the movie already knew He-Man. Maybe their would have been a featurette in the movie of a partial episode of one of He-Man's many triumphs over Skeletor. Perhaps there would have been a seen where Adam muses to Cringer about how he would introduce himself to the world if he were ever allowed to reveal that he was He-Man, and then they'd have had him imagining the minute long intro to the He-Man show that we're all so familiar with: "I'd start by telling them 'I am Adam, prince of Eternia...': lol. I think the og movie is a gem, the pinnacle of He-Man & She-ra stories in many ways, & I think, if it's handlers handled it well, it could be a perennial classic on a larger scale, like many of the Disney classics.
That's all (sadly) wishful thinking - These days it's all about corporations taking an existing BILLION DOLLAR brand and reinventing it in their own vision...
@@cerealgeekTV Sad but true, friend, sad but true. Well... one can hope that the "reinventions" at least don't turn the wheels into square blocks lol. The motu revolution really paid a lot of homage and seemed to go in the right direction, incorporating as much as they could of the OG. Imperfect, but still impressive. The He-Man+Teela transformation is bootyfully beautiful lol, but I don't want to spoil too much. I'll be eager to hear your take on the show when you see it. They look primed to properly reunite the twins ( Adam and Adora of course ) in animation for the first time in over 35 years, and that alone is reason enough in my book to pull HARD for them to get a second ( third, 4th and more ) season. The better this latest Kevin Smith, Rob David, Ted B etc version does ( especially in doing much better than the less loyal to the original cartoons Netflix "She-ra" and CGI "He-Man" ), the more likely that the message Mattel and Dreamworks alike will take away is "fans want content that tries to stick to the main plot details of the original He-Man and She-ra era, and that is what they'll support" and put effort into creating more content that does so.
Yeah, I just met Paul Kupperberg at Connecticut Terrificon! Nice little chat. Apparently, they just showed him the toys, let them goof around with them and didn't have much to tell him besides good guy or bad guy.
....and seriously, the book on Enfield? That's where I grew up....in the Connecticut version!
Firstly, that's bloody AWESOME that you met and conversed with Paul Kupperberg and were able to chat some Masters of the Universe with him! :) - And secondly, with regards to Enfield, even more bizarre, three streets parallel to where Filmation were based is a road called...Enfield Avenue! :)
Been loving all your content James! Your knowledge truly astounds.
Thank you for the VERY kind words - I'm always hoping that this channel finds the right audience! :)
Excellent work!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! :)
Oh so this means Norm Prescott, not Lou Scheimer, did the narrations for the intros of The Groovie Ghoulies and Friends, and Tarzan and the Super Seven, Jason of Star Command, and other shows like that back in the day!
YUP - Norm and Lou have VERY similar voices...so I think we can all be forgiven for thinking it was Lou doing the narration for all these years (though 100% that's Lou performing the narration on BraveStarr)! :)
@@cerealgeekTV Yeah, definitely Lou for Bravestarr, as I'm sure Norm had left Filmation by then? I'd noticed the difference from the earlier narrations though at the time I didn't know by name, just that it was a different person.
Yeah, technically Norm had left Filmation by 1983...but I guess he stuck around to perform some voice work! :)
I like when people say it presented unrealistic expectations of the human body! That always makes me laugh!
Did we get that much with He-Man? :) - I feel like that was more of a criticism towards Barbie...
