Hi Susan..so valuable informations.! Yes..i also have heard of such incidents happening there because of the tourists rush after the pandemic. A majority of these people are less informed and in a rush to enjoy their moments paying no heed to the local people's sentiments. Thanks sharing and take care of yourself. 😊

A bit exaggerating to generalise alcohol in clubs are cheap ones, depends on the place and the class though, and not true that you can go blind from too much "Arak", Real Arak won't cause that but the knock-off ones, so you have to know where to get Real Arak made purely from Palm.
It's nationally known there are so many knock-off Arak around Indonesia especially on Java and brought to Bali as well so it's not Balinese fault.
And with tap water drinking you had to go back in The Netherlands because you fell ill that's also too much, I lived in The Netherlands and surrounding of course also fluent in many languages including Dutch as I am a complete multiracial multilingual born Indonesian living around the world all alone since childhood, I must say your 3 years on Bali you haven't discovered enough.
The truth is The Netherlands etc are the real third world including with hospital.

I'm Indonesian but I've never been to Bali. Usually our high schools organize tours to Bali, but when it was our turn the tour wasn't to Bali. I see Bali only from stories from those who have been to Bali. Bali is increasingly strange and expensive for me as an Indonesian. Do I still qualify as a local tourist in Bali? I don't know, but everything you say is true, local and national media say the same... Thank you Susan, you are our very good sister, we love you :)

I agree with you that prices in Bali is considerably higher than in Java, but it is what it is.
I won't buy something that is over my budget. No doubt.
Bali [and I'm sure other places in this whole planet] always welcome to everyone, but disrespectful and impolite persons [regardless the nationalities].
So I hope you would have a chance to visit Bali some day!

I used to have a dream traveling to Bali Island but it seems so hard to get there. Once upon a time my Balinese ex girlfriend said that some day your foot would step on Bali Island soil, and once time you got there you will go back again to Bali. Because she believed that Bali has such as magnetic to pull someone back there. And finally after a long time now in 2024 I accepted by non profit foundation as their team in Bali. Can't believe my dream comes true.

Well done Susan. I'm an Indonesian and have spent more than half of my life staying in Bali and I still can't get enough of it.
I think it's just COMMON SENSE when we travel to other countries we should always be RESPECTFUL and POLITE. Sometimes it helps us a lot when we can SPEAK THE LOCAL LANGUAGE a bit. Trust me on this.
I admit that you will find some as*h*les in Bali [like in many other countries I believe], such as driving motorbike too fast etc etc, but as a visitor we should not imitate that. Just be a normal person 😁
You may still use some casual and comfortable clothes as long as you are not completely naked on public you will be just fine.
If you're staying in a neighborhood / residential, please be mindful of the noise at night and if possible try to keep some small lights at front of your house on during the night.
Also [this is very important] although Bali is considerably safe, don't forget to always keep your doors and windows closed and locked especially at night. Put your valuables in a safety box or hide it somewhere. Better be safe than sorry!
In short just use our common sense whereever we go, don't act like an a*sh*le and we will be just fine.
    Enjoy it!

Susan, I hope you can always look after Janine. because I see that you and Janine are like brother and sister, they look very close.... I really want to be able to protect and look after Janine at all times from negative things that want to bother her, but it's impossible for me to do it with my own hands because separated by a long distance, Susan. So I ask and beg for your hand, which will replace my hand, to always be able to protect and look after Janine Susan... Susan, continue to be a friendly person who speaks polite words and is soft-hearted as usual. My warm greetings are Ilvan from Belitung Island.🙏🤝🏝️

About “don’t go to Nusa Penida only for one day (return)” I really agree with u! U don’t really enjoy the nature there with one day return, also the trip is really “heavy”

Honestly good, great advice. I’ve never been there. I any soon. A little too, can you just share a list so a person doesn’t have to listen to the whole video to get the info? I don’t have wifi, and have limited data. It wasn’t worth watching the whole video when it’s all about respect. Thanks.
