Theres too much irony, all the reddit speak shows tacit allegiance to being "terminally online", effectively just whining in, yes, a postmodern late capitalist malaise (which has been around since the 80s) Translation: I dont like complaining without any direction. Useless mud slinging shows a lack of grounded beleifs and "trolling" for the sake of it is petulant navel gazing imo. At least kurt for example, demonstrated hopelessness from the lens of a sensitive, gentle soul (which inverts the nihilism because he was sincere) he didnt want people to give up, even if the answers were unclear. Good punk rock is sincere, grounded in beleifs. State your grievances and then balance them against something youd sincerely like to see change in the world. Absurdity in a vacuum is corrosive.
Your analysis of punk in the least "punk" explanation for a reason. You're thinking about it way too hard. Punk is a lazy genre, in general, because it just serves as an outlet for anger. Kurt had no change in mind. He was just a trendy, hedonistic hipster who admitted his lyrics meant nothing (speaking of lazy lyrics). Shooter has lined out what he's for and against in his music way more than Kurt did in his. Punk is no longer "punk" if it's a bunch of teenage girls circlejerking about their safe/PC beliefs. Punk was meant counter-culture and this is currently what's counter-culture, which is why so many people are made. People are now mad that a punk artist is "too edgy". That's how punk is supposed to be done.
